Everybody was Outstanding, and those DJ's that keep the party going between acts, are Michael Jackson "BAD"
I thought overall was great. But I hard a time hearing Mint Conditions performance. The sound system was much better for the other two performances. It was great overall!
I could not help myself I was tweeting throughtout the show...my eyes were glued to the crackberry screen and the stage simultaneously from my bird's eye position...life was interrupted from all angles.... the drunk woman erupting ever so often in front us as if she were on stage...folks trapsing in and out...Anyways, Can I say this man brought his game to the plate...dressed in his white slacks, white shoes, white sunglasses and blue double breasted blazer....damn this man brought sex appeal to the stage...you could sense the heat swell rising with all the people fanning up a storm and the women screaming like its Madi Gras....oh boy! I love the fact Mr.Benet has command of the stage, his piano man, drummer and bassists thats all he needed and the stage was his to play....and did he. At first I was miffed when he left the stage...my friend and I were like "is his set over? oh no? then encore performance of "Georgie Porgie" and crowd went wild somewhat....All in all I enjoyed myself and would not mind seeing Eric Benet in concert again... Then there is Ledisi in her red pumps and she worked the stage as it was her own becuase she knows how to get a crowd going and she shut the place down..holy smoking grills!!!! this is my third time seeing this her live and if you have not seen her you are missing a sensational and dynamic performance. Honestly, I would have preferred her as the second act and not the opening act...just my thoughts. Mint condition sorry to say left a lot to be desired from on my part...the music itself was a bit too loud and I really could not hear some of their songs and I lost interest part-way until two of my favorite songs from them were sung and yes I got into the groove...special effects and all were good along with the rock star grooving at the end.. This line up was extraordinary and special....get your groove on...uh oh!!!
Eric Benet's voice is beautiful. Great performance, could have added more songs though, I felt a little cheated. It did not feel like a full performance. I guess he was on a time limit. I could have done without all the flash photography. I guess they are allowing cameras now.
Ledisi's show has gotten bigger. She's added a couple of horns to the band, and she uses the hell out of the stage. You get a lot of legs with that enormous voice, and she managed to cover a lot of material in a short time... Somebody said she stole the show... I'd just say that I got my money's worth if nobody else hit the stage... Mint Condition kept the energy level elevated... They are a true band... You can feel them play off of each other, and somehow I didn't feel like they missed anything I really needed to hear... Stokely snuck in a lil' tribute to Luther when he emulated the end of "A House is Not a Home"... That man can sing... and all of those 40-somethin' year-old men were jumping around the stage like teenagers... Good stuff... Eric Benet hit every note and had the ladies melting with "Chocolate Legs" and "Femininity" but his performance fell a little flat... A bass player with a vocal mic he didn't use until his introduction at the end of the set... a drummer... and the MD on keys and laptop... All of the background vocals on a prerecorded track... He should go back to supper clubs and small venues...
I was disappointed with Eric Benet. Both Ledisi and Mint Condition performed for about an hour, but Eric performed for about 40 minutes. Also, both Eric and Mint performed to tracks. I guess there wasn't enough money in the budget for actual background singers. I did not feel that I got my money's worth.
Not only is Eric Benet one of the sexiest men alive.. but his show was simply intoxicating and sensual. He is the total package - nice to look at - and the brotha can really sing. He is extremely talented and serenaded the ladies with our favorite songs from his past and present records. I can't wait until he comes back again because I will definitely be there on the front row!
What can be said? If you were not there then you missed out. As often as these entertainers come to the Bay you would not even know it. You would have thought this was their first time around. It was new and refreshing. Ledisi was the opener and did a fantastic job. I would like to see her again on her own. She put it down! Mint Condition was good especially if you are a follower of theirs. They did some ol' school classics. Eric Benet, Eric Benet, Eric Benet, that's all I can say. They all deserved every penny of the high priced tickets. The only con was their sets were limited to about 45 min and it could have gone longer and it should have. They all have hits that would have had to place rockin'.
The Fox Theatre was beautiful. Everybody was excellent.
The show was good, but the music was so loud that it drowned out the singers. It seemed as if Ledisi was screaming over the loud speakers and loud music. She sounded great but again speakers drowned her out. Mint Condition was ok. But, Eric Benet was the HIT of the entire show!! I would see him again and again and again.
Loved the entire show. Was very disappointed that the headliner ERIC didn't do as many songs as he normally does....but that's all the more reason to see him when he comes back to the bay. I loves some Eric :-)
Mint condition was just okay.. the band was too loud and overshadowed the singing.. they sang mostly new songs , wish they would have sang more older stuff. Eric Benet was fantastic.. he sounded great and looked great as well.. he is a great showman !!!
I loved the show overall. I have never seen any of the acts in concert before, so just being there was a real treat. Ledisi started the show off wonderfully (I thought she was going to hurt herself a couple of times--but she was rocking those red pumps). Then Mint Condition came on and the acoustics were so off that I couldn't really understand what they were saying other than the songs that I already knew (which weren't many), but still put on a good show. SOUL POWER! Then Eric Benet graces the stage and sings all the right songs, but he did it all in 30 minutes. As a headliner he should've been on a A LOT longer than that he has SOOO many songs that he could've sung. But overall good show!
The sound was horrible in the orchestra pit. It was too loud. You could barely hear the singers. Ledisi and her back up singers had wonderful voices, but you could barely hear them other the musicians she had on stage. The same for Mint Condition. WHERE WAS THE SOUND ENGINEER! Maybe the sound was better outside of the pit, but it was awful where we sat. Eric Benet, who had only three muscians on stage came through clear and beautiful. Less is more!
Mint Condition disappointed us, didn't sing the hits we were expecting, Eric Benet used some recording effects, but Lesdisi tore the house down...don't miss her ever!
It was great the only thing I would have changed was Mint Condition ....they should have sung a few more songs.
I was looking forward to seeing Eric Benet perform last light but was slightly disappointed. He was singing over his pre-recordings although he had a minimal band. I expected more from him especially since he was the headliner. Mint Condition was O.K. Ledisi was the best, she should have been the headliner.
