About

Elton John in Concert

Sir Elton Hercules John, English singer, songwriter and pianist, has been a fixture of the soft rock and pop music scene since the early 1960s and toured the globe extensively in his decades-long career. John's 2016-2018 Wonderful Crazy Night Tour has taken him throughout North America, the Middle East and Europe, as did his 2012-2013 Rocket Man 40th Anniversary Tour and 2011-2012 Greatest Hits Tour. John's musical style is marked by his flashy piano work and distinctive lead vocals. He is best known for his easy-listening rock and pop tunes, though, he is equally accomplished at creating works for films and the stage. His live shows combine his expert musicianship with flamboyant costumes and infectious energy, creating an atmosphere that enthralls audiences worldwide. Elton John's musical prowess has earned him numerous accolades. He managed to have a charting Top 40 hit every year from 1970 to 1996 and has crafted timeless melodies like "Rocket Man," "Tiny Dancer," "Crocodile Rock," and "Bennie & The Jets." He's been nominated for nearly 30 Grammy Awards, and won eight, including Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and a Hall of Fame award.

Elton John Background

Born Reginald Kenneth Dwight in 1947, in Pinner, England, John was introduced to music at an early age. He started playing piano at age four, and won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music at age 11. After leaving the Academy in 1961, he made the decision to pursue a career in music and joined his first band, Bluesology. John met his longtime writing partner, lyricist Bernie Taupin, in the mid-1960s, and since then has collaborated with him on more than 30 albums. Classic albums like his self-titled Elton John and Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player are considered masterpieces to many a rock fan, and works like Goodbye Yellow Brick Road catapulted John to his legendary status. Though John is an icon in the field of music, his worldly influence stretches beyond songwriting and performing. In 1992, he established the Elton John AIDS Foundation, with the express purpose of supporting HIV prevention, education and care for those living with the disease.

Elton John is an amazing entertainer!

by AZFan on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

You could see how much Elton enjoyed performing and appreciated his fans. The experience at Chase field was great and sound was really good. I would definitely recommend attending an event here. Going to miss the legend

    Last show

by Travelor on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Went to Elton John’s last show. It was absolutely fantastic. This is the third concert I’ve seen of Elton John and it was as good as the first. He is such a great entertainer and love to watch him sing, oh so good. The only thing I’d say is the venue wasn’t the best. I think the stadium is just too big to get the best sounding.

    Horrible Acoustics

    by Howieaz2003 on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

When Elton would sing a quiet ballad, it was a pleasure to him sing. However, when he sang more upbeat songs like Rocket Man, his band would drown him out. I’m not sure if an enclosed baseball stadium is the proper venue for him. In the end, I was thankful I got to see and hear Sir Elton.

It was by far one of the best concerts of my life.

    by Candyz21 on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Unfortunately, can you imagine running to the bathroom and no toilet paper?? How on earth does a venue like Chase Field run out of toilet paper?? Why do I connect it to Sir Elton John? Because this is where his entourage decided to hold the concert. Gross and disgusting. I will definitely think twice before attending any in person concerts. Prefer to listen to my LPs. You Sir get ⭐️⭐️⭐️

    Awesome!

by Malunggay on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

EJ was awesome!!! But your seating arrangement is so bad. Traffic has not been planned and arranged smoothly. This traffic issue should be handled properly and needs to be corrected.

How do I leave 0 stars??

by Cb on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Elton was great for the 1/2 I saw!!! We showed unintentionally late aka 10 minutes before showtime (8pm). Floor seat entrance was only at one gate on opposite side of stadium from any parking… Security was a disorganized mess and had no structure. Masses of crowded people and two scanners for 1000s on the floor. We got to our seats at 845!!! Chairs were narrower than my shoulders (worse than airplane seats) so I had to stand at a 45* angle and still constantly bumped the poor people next to me and vice versa. Long story short - should have showed at 6pm to make our show on time.

    Rocket Man!

by Kandy on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

I really enjoyed seeing Elton John again after not seeing him for about 20 years. I had a great seat and I had an exciting time when we were able to rush the stage. Being so close to Elton was the best! It was an emotional “Farewell”

    Elton John Phoenix

by FunMom on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Overall the concert was great. Elton John was so good. The sound was the issue that kept it from being fantastic. Chase field maybe open the roof a little, the echo and reverb off the metal was the problem.

by Purple on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

The concert was absolutely amazing. The Soundsystem was excellent and the visuals were so enjoyable! It was incredible how fantastic Elton John played the piano and sang for his age. So glad I was able to experience this amazing concert!

Chase field is a disaster-never again

by Gila on 11/15/22Chase Field - Phoenix

I have never been in a concert where getting there was worst than getting to Universal Studios or Disney until now. We leave at Chandler. We left at 6:30pm to get ahead to buy memorabilia. What should have been a 40min drive became more thanksgiving 2h drive. We got to sit at 8:40pm, 40min late. There was not a single policeman in the area nor anyone to direct the traffic on the last mile to the stadium, which was in sold out (50,000 people). One would think that since we went to the 2nd night there would be improvements, but no. We heard later from friends who were there in the previous night the same story. What was supposed to be a glorious Elton last event became probably also our last event. It was not worth it! Gave 2 stars for the half show we managed to see.
