Very good show. I wish they would consider doing a WHO rock opera like "Tommy"

El Monstero – a Tribute To Pink Floyd in Concert
Many tribute bands are dedicated to the music and visuals of Pink Floyd, but few are as ambitious as El Monstero – a Tribute to Pink Floyd. Based in St. Louis, the troupe pairs an arena-caliber light and video show with meticulous attention to detail: They once borrowed the actual inflatable pig owned by Pink Floyd, and have also been known to hire a helicopter to fly over the crowd to provide the proper sound effects for the music. Their onstage presence certainly earns them the tag "The Definitive U.S. Pink Floyd Tribute Experience," as the band's arresting musicianship captures the evocative emotional arcs of the David Gilmour and Roger Waters era of Pink Floyd.
Near the end of the year, the group books an annual run of shows at popular indoor St. Louis venue the Pageant, a 2,300-capacity space that's adjacent to the Delmar Loop. They also regularly do out-of-town gigs in Springfield and Kansas City, and they've collaborated live with the St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra on bigger concerts that add majestic flourishes to Pink Floyd's music. In recent years, El Monstero has also branched out for summer shows at the St. Louis–area outdoor venue the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre.
El Monstero – a Tribute To Pink Floyd Background
It's tough to beat the pedigree of the musicians in El Monstero. The group was founded by members of the St. Louis rock band Stir, who decided to do a covers show around Thanksgiving 1999 that drew 900 people. From there, El Monstero continued to play gigs around the holidays, even as their personnel evolved: Stir bassist Kevin Gagnepain stayed aboard and was joined by members of nationally signed bands the Urge (drummer John Pessoni, keyboardist Bill Reiter) and Kingofthehill (vocalist/guitarist Jimmy Griffin) — all of whom had continued to hone their craft in other St. Louis bands — as well as a group of talented local instrumentalists, including vocalist/guitarist Mark Thomas Quinn, and backing singers. Together, El Monstero is a testament to the power of Pink Floyd, and to the power of community.

Not as good as last year...
by jdirte212 on 12/27/10The Pageant - St LouisRating: 3 out of 5I love pink floyd got there a little late and missed out on a couple great songs. This is my fifth year in a row going and although I did enjoy it but it wasn't like before. They cut off half the pit and stuffed all under 21 in an area that was to small. The paegent also takes things to seriously taking away good fake IDs. I don't like how they end the show either, maybe it was because I wasn't drunk anymore and just stoned but not stoned enough because the ushers were being really gay about things like that. The area we were stuffed into basically forced us to the outside where we could be hassled. I lost focus and wanted to get out after animals started. Just everything together made the experience the worst show I have ever been to as far as El Monstero is concerned. But like I said I still enjoyed it, they needed to play the 3rd section of Dogs I noticed they didn't play that and they left out Sheep which has become my favorite song on that album and its kinda dissappointing.
Best Christmas Present Ever To My Father
by fulldeezy on 12/27/10The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5We came, were Fearless and we rocked. For the 1st time ever having seating on the stage, it went off without a hitch. Bought these for my father as a Christmas present and I have to say it was a gift we will remember 20 Christmas' from now. Stage show was excellent and the Pageant always has sound done perfectly. Great time and I cannot wait til next Christmas as this will probably become an event we share together every Christmas.
Amazing.
by Langley65 on 12/27/10The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5The single best local show I have ever seen. I was there last year and both times I was completely blown away.
Cant wait till next year
by motolou on 12/27/10The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5Was fantastic .WE went 3 out of 6 nites and everyone was better than the one before it.
El Monstero ROCKED!!!
by str8ejcad on 12/27/10The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5This was an unforgettable show. It was not only a fantastic musical presentation but a great overall experience with the entire production. I will definitely go to this show again if and when it returns. I had people with me that were not "groupies" of Pink Floyd by any stretch of the imagination (although they were familiar with most of the songs). After the show they were excited and said "that was an awesome show! It totally changed my perspective of their (Pink Floyd's) music". My expectations of the show were greatly exceeded, even though my friend who has played in numerous bands highly recommended this performance.
One of the best shows of the year!
by JimCindyMark on 12/27/10The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5Wow! El Monstero is absolutely great Christmas tradition for us. We have been going for about 8 years now and it is on our can't miss events. What is great about the band is that it is all "St Louis" guys and gals. They do a fantastic job of covering Pink Floyd. If you close your eyes, there are times when they sound just like Floyd. It should also be mentioned that the new stage is great AND the Pageant is smoke-free!
Moonrise is great hotel!
by JimCindyMark on 12/27/10The Pageant - St LouisRating: 4 out of 5The Moonrise Hotel is a very nice (if pricey) hotel with a pretty good restaurant. It is very convenient to the Pageant.
el monstero was awesome

El Monstero
by Boneshaker1963 on 12/26/10The Pageant - St LouisRating: 3 out of 5There is no comparison to last years show. The sound this year was not good. The band wasn't tight either. Overall all production of the show was average at best. The playlist was very broken up. I hope they go back to the stage layout and more musicians like last year.
El Monstero was great.
by Vanceleigh on 12/26/10The Pageant - St LouisRating: 4 out of 5We sat on stage for the show, it was the largest change in the show I've seen. Overall it was a great show. I would liked to have seen the Wizard of Oz playing along with videos of the wall. Overall a great show as usual.
El Monstero 2nd time
by Garcia95 on 12/26/10The Pageant - St LouisRating: 4 out of 5was very good but a bit too much with show stick with the music.
elmonstero dissappointing
by stephaniegriffin on 12/26/10The Pageant - St LouisRating: 4 out of 5I love the show, I have been going many years, however this year I didn't care for the new stage, it was to high for many of the viewers on the floor and first level bar rail to see. We had back stage seats, I felt I was watching the back side of a show. The performers would come over and pose for us it was not the jamming I'm used to seeing, I doubt the performers liked it either. I missed the visuals on the big screen, the televisions were ineffective. I felt the pole dancers were awkward. It was very difficult to get a drink, the single wait person just could not cover the large area. I would normally give this show a 10, this year a 5. I was amazed by the performances but disappointed by the new production. Please consider returning to previous years production style.
Hometown folks do Pink Floyd right!
by stratcat51 on 12/26/10The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5This was my second El Monstero (first one in 2007) and this time I had stage seating. I went on the night of the 22nd and took note (before the show began) of how much work and time went in to this production. All I saw were smiles from the background people (video, lights, sound, guitar and bass techs) and you knew this was a labor of love. Sitting on stage ws truly awesome, though I did have a hard time hearing Kevin Gagnepain's excellent bass work. I'm sure the bass was kicking out front! The ladies once again showed their fantastic pipes and the guitar work of Jimmy and Bryan was mesmerizing. John Pessoni is one of my son's favorite drummers and I can hear/see why.
Stage Seating was Awesome for El Monstero
by ElMonsteroFan on 12/26/10The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5As usual, El Monstero did not disappoint. We were exceptionally lucky to get seating on the stage in the front row. We missed a little of the visual of the performance in the front of the stage, but it was more than made up for by being able to see the band very close up as they came on and off the stage. Some of them played a little to us too and we were able to high five and shake with them as they went off stage. The second two rows looked a little less comfortable. We had plenty of leg room and didn't have to miss a second of the concert to go to the bar since we had our own waitress service.
El monstero was incredible!!!
by UncleDean on 12/25/10The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5This show was amazing. The show was not over until after eleven thirty! They gave the audience a show for their money. My family for now on is going to make a tradition to go every year!
Best year, yet
by KBrass69 on 12/25/10The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5Get the onstage seating... it is well worth it. The music, the lighting, the dancers... quite a spectacle!
on stage seatig sucked
by Anonymous on 12/25/10The Pageant - St LouisRating: 1 out of 5I thought this was the worst year ever and I have been about 5 times the sould do away with the on stage seeating and bring back moreof th show andheatrcs! If it doesntgback o te od w more costumes lazers an just more of a stage show. Hope i gets better next year, They have been getting worse on their stage prformance not better but i still love them.
El Monstero "Beyond The Wall 2010" amazing
by shewolff1 on 12/25/10The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5Went last year for the first time and will never miss this again!!! Took my husband this year and he said the same thing. The atmosphere, people, music all unforgettable! We can't believe the performance and the length of the show!! Worth the cold weather, the wait, best time we have had in a long time!! We grew up with the original Pink Floyd and these guys sound as good if not better! What really amazed us is alot of people our age and older! We all still can party, just a little longer recoup time.
