El Monstero – a Tribute To Pink Floyd in Concert
Many tribute bands are dedicated to the music and visuals of Pink Floyd, but few are as ambitious as El Monstero – a Tribute to Pink Floyd. Based in St. Louis, the troupe pairs an arena-caliber light and video show with meticulous attention to detail: They once borrowed the actual inflatable pig owned by Pink Floyd, and have also been known to hire a helicopter to fly over the crowd to provide the proper sound effects for the music. Their onstage presence certainly earns them the tag "The Definitive U.S. Pink Floyd Tribute Experience," as the band's arresting musicianship captures the evocative emotional arcs of the David Gilmour and Roger Waters era of Pink Floyd.
Near the end of the year, the group books an annual run of shows at popular indoor St. Louis venue the Pageant, a 2,300-capacity space that's adjacent to the Delmar Loop. They also regularly do out-of-town gigs in Springfield and Kansas City, and they've collaborated live with the St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra on bigger concerts that add majestic flourishes to Pink Floyd's music. In recent years, El Monstero has also branched out for summer shows at the St. Louis–area outdoor venue the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre.
El Monstero – a Tribute To Pink Floyd Background
It's tough to beat the pedigree of the musicians in El Monstero. The group was founded by members of the St. Louis rock band Stir, who decided to do a covers show around Thanksgiving 1999 that drew 900 people. From there, El Monstero continued to play gigs around the holidays, even as their personnel evolved: Stir bassist Kevin Gagnepain stayed aboard and was joined by members of nationally signed bands the Urge (drummer John Pessoni, keyboardist Bill Reiter) and Kingofthehill (vocalist/guitarist Jimmy Griffin) — all of whom had continued to hone their craft in other St. Louis bands — as well as a group of talented local instrumentalists, including vocalist/guitarist Mark Thomas Quinn, and backing singers. Together, El Monstero is a testament to the power of Pink Floyd, and to the power of community.

Awesome show
by Friskyone on 12/21/11The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5We saw monster in the park this summer so we had to come see the Christmas show..always hears great things about elmonstero but having seen the original Floyd in a few different arrangments I was worried a cover band would ruin what I knew prior that being said I was dead wrong these guys do a great job covering the classic band..worth every penny...blew. Us away and the et list was amazing...
Best Pink Floyd cover band ever
by rolladaytripper on 12/20/11The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5Way better than we expected. Great effects and stage crew. Very entertaining, worth the ticket cost for sure.

Best set up yet in 7 years. Never go back to onstage seating! Great set list and costumes.
El Monstero Sat.
by BigT14 on 12/19/11The Pageant - St LouisRating: 4 out of 5the concert was great. the constant line jumping while waiting to get in sucked and made for a long night. when you get there 5 1/2 hours before the show to wait in line for a chance at Halo then watch as 35 people show up at 4:45 and jump the line because one friend stood in line for 7 people it tends to piss u off. the pageant could at least try and prevent this. there is no reason this show couldn't be reserve seating. the only reason I recommend this show is because the band does an amazing performance. the venue leaves a lot to be desired.
El Monstero. The best band in St. Louis
by Anonymous on 12/19/11The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5The show was awesome. Once again these fine gentleman and lovely ladies put on one hell of a performance. The whole spectical was magnificent. I loved every minute of the show and am looking forward to going back again next year.
El Monstero is freakin AWESOME
by Anonymous on 12/19/11The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5This was our 4th year going to El Monstero and we have enjoyed every show. we now live two hours away and we still make a point to come to the show. The only complaint I have is that it is not easy to get reserve seats. I have only managed to get reserved seats one year. I am on line at the exact moment tickets go on sale and will try for hours and still will not be able to get reserve seats. Either way show still absolutely AWESOME!! We actually brought a couple that loves pink floyd but had never been to the concert...needless to say they will be back next year !!
El Monstero 2011
by Kemberley on 12/19/11The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5Freaking unbelievable!!!!! Back to the theatrics of the original yet every year something totally new and unreal. The guys are always tight musically and the girls always take my breath away with the vocals on Great Gig in the Sky. I always leave with the most respect for their hardwork at delivering the best show you could ever imagine. Can't wait for next year already!!!!!
Amazing show!
by Anonymous on 12/19/11The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5I bought tickets to the show as a birthday gift for my boyfriend, and was completely unfamiliar with the music of Pink Floyd. However, El Monstero sounded great, and the show was so dynamic and interesting that I still had a fantastic time.

It's El Monstero, what more needs to be said? Amazing!
El monstero outdid themselves once again.
by Bigjoejr99 on 12/19/11The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5The show was amazing. I have went six years in a row now. I also saw them this summer in "the monster in the park". They don't just cover Pink Floyd. They put on an unforgettable show begging you for more. When you leave you can't wait until next year. Bottom line...El monstero plays Pink Floyd, Pink Floyd plays El monstero.
My second show, first Peagant show
by STLpinkfloydfan on 12/19/11The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5Definitely awesome! We saw the JB show and this was better! This was our first pageant show and it was unforgetabble. When I thought "how are they gonna top this song?" the next was even better!
El Monstero as usual was fantastic!!!
by DogDish on 12/19/11The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5The show on 12.16.11 was, as expected, very, very good. One thing though, there T-shirts this time around were kind of...blahhhh.
14th El Monstero show
by Greasegun on 12/18/11The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5Just keeps getting better every year! Amazing show!
Awesome as always!
by Matt7778 on 12/18/11The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5The shows just keep getting better an better! Never cease to amaze! Probably one of the best concerts anyone could experience.
Excellent

El Monstero
by CLHill on 12/18/11The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5El Monstero is always great. I've been going for 6 years in a row, and I can't say this was the very best of their shows, but it is always enjoyable. The band was as good as ever, the women were amazing as always. Some of the newcomers were amateurish but that's my only criticism.
El Monstero delivers.......Pageant not so much
by abadraptor on 12/18/11The Pageant - St LouisRating: 3 out of 5Music was great! Stage show fantastic!! My problem was getting in line outside for 2.5 hours before doors opened at 7pm and still only getting standing-room, even though I paid for general admission seating. I'm not really sure how the Pageant or Ticket Master gets away with it. So my wife and I stood a total of nearly 7hrs. Really as much as I look forward to El Monstero each year this was not worth it to us. I hope the band plays again during the summer at JB park, that will satisfy our Pink Floyd fix.
El Monstero was awesome as usual.
by Anonymous on 1/11/11The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5I loved how they changed up the show with the horse shoe stage and brought in the drum core for the song "Run". The music is so robust in the venue. I love the experience there.
El Monstero Rocks!
by RockGoddess63 on 1/10/11The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5Totally awesome. Even better than last year. Can't wait till next year.
