EELS Concert Schedule and Tour

With their highly anticipated 11th studio album hitting shelves in 2014, Eels continue to carry the torch for funny yet emotional alternative rock. Packed with clever wordplay and eloquent observations about the comedy of life, songs like "Novocaine for the Soul" and "Your Lucky Day in Hell" garnered the band a serious cult following in the '90s, and nearly 20 years later they've lost none of their incisive wit. True to form, Eels' 2013 shows featured several encore fake outs that saw them repeatedly return to the stage after the crew had begun to breakdown, with all signs pointing to more shenanigans on their 2014 world tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed by singer-songwriter Mark Oliver Everett, a.k.a. "E," in 1995, Eels' 1996 debut album Beautiful Freak was a surprise hit, making its way on to the Billboard 200 with catchy alt-rock singles like "Novocaine for the Soul" and "Susan's House." The band's overnight success landed them on tour with the likes of Pulp and Fiona Apple, paving the way for a string of acclaimed albums in the '00s. Following the 2013 release of their tenth studio album Wonderful, Glorious,  the band surprised fans with the announcement of another new album in 2014, coinciding with a summer world tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Eels rocked Webster Hall. Great guitars and drums. amazing sound and lights. And E is always a blast! Fun show all around. These guys never disappoint."

"Great show, the band is really tight. E is dedicated to putting on a great show. They did a big encore at the end that was amazing."

"The Eels never disappoint. They always add a unique spin on their music and presentation"

    Wow.......

by golfman211 on 6/14/14Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

The Eel are flat out amazing! The venue was gorgous the sound clear and crisp, oh and Steve Perry showed up to sing a few oldies but opened with an Eel classic"MFer". The Eels stilled owned the night, crisp play and those amazing lyrics kept the crowd swaying/singing along. I can't wait until they return but they might find a less droning opening act.

I love the Eels; It is always an adventure.

by LABrownie on 6/14/14Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

I try to see the Eels every time they are in Los Angeles. I love that you never quite know what the show will be like. This most recent show at the Orpheum-an incredibly beautiful venue, was on the more somber side. There was the full band that has been with E for some time now; they are great and can play a ridiculous variety of instruments. They wore suits, there was a light fixture above the stage reminiscent of old style filament bulbs with similar bulbs on the back wall, most of the songs were from the most recent album. I admit to being totally biased. If this was your one and only Eels show then you may be thinking twice about going to another one. Being an Eels fan is a journey, a bit of an adventure. Personally, I love being along for the ride.

    Eels were amazing!

by mgnite on 6/14/14Palace of Fine Arts - San Francisco

Absolutely enjoyed the show. Had never even heard of them before Steve Perry's MN surprise performance. Bought the ticket hoping Steve would show up. He didn't, but turned out we were introduced to some fabulous music.

    Fantastic!

by DavidBell on 6/13/14Orpheum Theater - Downtown LA

This could have been the best Eels concert yet, and I've been to 5 other performances over the years! These guys just seem to be getting better and better. The songs come quick and are so tight and beautiful. E was in top form with his quick wit and driving musical genius. A ton of songs were played (of course we wanted more) but the cherry on top was bringing out Journey lead singer Steve Perry for the final 3 songs! The audience went wild. E even came down and started hugging everyone! So fun!

    The Eels- he's so funny

by FGC1 on 6/13/14Palace of Fine Arts - San Francisco

Amazing venue, excellent show, very ballad like which was perfect for the mood I was in. Not at all like the show I saw last year at Webster Hall, NYC. That also was noteworthy as we hung around for a good 15 minutes after they finished and the place was almost empty when they came out and did a rockin version of Dogfaced Boy! I can't get enough...

Eels @ Palace Of Fine Arts

by montyedits on 6/13/14Palace of Fine Arts - San Francisco

Fantastic show. My first time seeing Eels and whilst I am not sure what I was expecting the live show to be like, it exceeded any expectations. Really enjoyable and highly recommended.

    Another wonderful show by Eels

by LorilynnP on 6/7/14Apollo Theater - New York

Another wonderful show by Eels. You could tell they were having as much fun up there as was the audience (even with the "bummer" songs). As for E, what can I say? He is a musical genius. It was great getting to see his funny side, and the interaction with the audience was amazing. I was only one seat away from getting a hug from him! It was an awesome night listening to Eels perform in an historic hall with my husband by my side..."now you're really living."

by KWR1 on 6/4/14Apollo Theater - New York

I've been a fan for years, so this was a huge event for my wife and I. Eeels played great songs from the new album along with some of the greatest music ever from their previous works. 24 songs toal, each played masterfully.

Chelsea was lovely dispite the EELS fans

by JPVBNJ on 6/4/14Apollo Theater - New York

This was my first show at the Apollo. I really loved the venue. The staff was very welcoming and the place is gorgeous. It felt amazing to be in such a historical place. I came for Chelsea Wolfe and considered staying around for EELS even though I was not too impressed when I checked their music out prior to the show. I ultimately decided not to stay because I was disgusted with their fan base. I have never seen worse show etiquette. They kept talking throughout Chelsea's entire set. Some of the conversations were so loud I could hear the entire conversation and could have joined in. This was a mostly acoustic set, which makes talking all the more rude. I know often the opener gets the short end of the stick, but Chelsea Wolfe is not some little band just starting. This was a theatre show. Showing up midway through and set and getting out of your seat several times to get drinks is messed up. The most aggravating element of the poor behavior was the age of the EELS fan base. Its pretty sad when people well in to their forties can't behave at a show and get called out by the band for talking. Chelsea, Ben and Andrea deserved better. I know for a fact they played a shorter set than was intended, so thanks EELS fans. Its disappointing when you pay $ 65 for a show just for of rude bunch of middle-aged people who should know better talk through the entire set and upset the band. Chelsea, Ben and Andrea played a fantastic set for a crowd of undeserving children.

Another great show from the master!

by psbthethe on 6/4/14Apollo Theater - New York

What a treat! Before the show my friend and I were going to get some soul food. We walked past the back of the Apollo theater and there was mark (e)! We said hello and he couldn't have been any nicer. He even allowed a couple of old fans to get a photo with him! Fresh feeling was my 2nd marriage wedding song (perfect lyrics for that occasion!). The set list was on the calmer side which was wonderful. He has such beautiful melodies. His humor continues to be perfect! The boys in the band are classic musicians with exceptional talent and fun! Grace Kelly blues, line in the dirt, fresh feeling, mistakes of my youth, where I'm going, were all great to hear! This live version of I like birds was probably my favorite. I will continue to go see the eels any chance I can! He is a true artist. Thanks for keeping your ticket prices affordable for the common man! It means a lot!

    WHAT A TWIST!

by Tarynasaurus on 6/2/14Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

I'll start off by saying that the opening act (a creepy, moody, band) was a total downer and not at all what I was expecting to hear at an EELS concert. But, The EELS' performance was fantastic, Mark Oliver Everett's vocals are wonderful live, and singing along to old favorites was a blast. Not to mention they did three encores and the last one featured STEVE PERRY!!! Now THAT was a surprise! I don't even care how awful the opener was, that was a fun concert!

I was introduced to The Eels about 18 months ago by a dear friend who is a diehard fan. I really do enjoy listening to their music. I love Mark Everett, love his voice and his lyrics... what a true artist he is. The concert was awesome! It was a treat to see Steve Perry! He was a nice addition to the show... some added excitement :-)

Eels was an evening to remember.

by Anonymous on 5/28/14Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

Every part of the Eels concert was awesom. The sound was great in the small theater. The vocals and music were well mixed where one didn't overpower the other. It was a perfect mix of talented singer and musicians. Having Steve Perry show up was an amazing end to an amazing concert.

    I Watched History

by Ormus777 on 5/28/14Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

The Eels are an amazing band that I've loved and grew up with. It was amazing to see them and to hear different renditions of my favorite songs. E's lyrics are unique in the music world and give a lot of heart to his songs. Amazing. Would have been one of the best concerts I've seen, but then it turned into something even more special. To be fair, I went to go see The Eels. I'm not a huge fan of more popular music, so I was sort of on the fence about what happened next, but then I realized I was watching a moment that would be seen as potentially historical, and being a music fan, I felt very lucky and very special to be a part of it. When Steve Perry (former Journey lead singer) hit the stage and did a few songs at the end, it was bewildering, amazing, and wonderful.

I got engaged at The Eels concert!!

by Stellen on 5/28/14Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

The Eels concert at the Fitzgerald theater will forever be a memorable night. The music was beautiful, as always, and E offered more of his playful humor! The lighting and stage were set to perfection which only enhanced the performance by creating an intimate musical space. During the first encore my boyfriend proposed while the band played "I Like The Way This Is Going" and I was moved to tears. It was the most joyful moment of my life and I will never forget that beautiful night. Thank you Eels!!
