About

Eddie Izzard is a British comedian and actor born in Aden, Yemen. The genderfluid performer got her start in sketch comedy and street performance before launching her stand-up comedy career. Known for her rambling, stream-of-consciousness monologue style and self-referencing pantomime, Izzard won two Primetime Emmys for her 2000 special Dress to Kill. The comedian’s film and TV credits include Ocean’s Twelve (2004), Ocean’s Thirteen (2007), The Riches (2007), Valkyrie (2008), Cars 2 (2011), and The LEGO Batman Movie (2017). Izzard also earned a Tony nomination for the Broadway revival of A Day in the Death of Joe Egg. In 2024, she premiered her one-person adaptation of Hamlet, which will transfer to Chicago and London following its triple-extended run in New York City.

  • First comedy show great choice

by Dj on 10/16/24The Santander Performing Arts Center - ReadingRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first comedy show ever and I've been a fan for almost as long as eddies career, it was awesome, the venue was great but Eddie was phenomenal, what I expected and more, would definitely go see again and again

  • Incredible

To say that seeing Eddie Izzard was a bucket list item would be an understatement. I've been a fan for twenty years, since seeing her for the first time as a shy, closeted queer teen. I described the show to my friend as "...you go to a concert and have the thought "I hope they play cake or death"and she did cake or death! And encore was a riff on the Vader skit. It felt very authentic to what I've grown up listening to and watching but was in context of today...The part of me that never felt right or understood got some healing."

  • Loved every moment

He's just brilliant! I was dazzled! Watching his brain work - you could almost see it turning - as he found new paths and took the audience with him was almost riveting. Potentially the most brilliant and engaging solo comedian / performer I've seen. He does comedy like Turner paints... a joy to behold. I was sad when it was over.... D

  • What an Amazing Show! Absolutely hilarious.

What an Amazing Show! Absolutely hilarious. I have never heard of a stand up having an intermission and then coming out for another complete set. He gave the slightest tribute to some masterful old material, but the act was so fresh and fun.

Falling asleep at a comedy show is about as bad a review as I can give. Not my humor. But I admire Eddie Izzard.

  • Awful left at intermission

  • Fabulous!

I've been an Eddie Izzard fan for decades. This show was really, REALLY great! It's mostly new material, but it's sprinkled with "vintage Eddie", which, of course, makes the crowd go wild. Even the set and music was great. I highly recommend seeing this show, whether you're a newbie or seasoned fan.

  • Best ever!

Loved seeing her live. Some familiar themes but with all new material. She's amazing!

Suzy (Eddie) did all her material and then some. Venue was cozy, felt like a small crowd but nearly sold out. Had a great time. She's the best!

  • Izzard as everyone in Hamlet

by Lale on 4/15/24Orpheum Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Izzard is a brilliant actor and artist. His/her distillation of Hamlet and tendering of all the roles against an austere box set is breathtaking and close to incredible while staying true to the original. Izzard’s intelligence, physical grace and gift for comedy are largely responsible for this stellar performance .

  • Shakespeare, pared down and perfect.

by marthawl on 4/15/24Orpheum Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

That was incredible, and SO much fun. Hamlet is a favorite play of mine and Eddie Izzard is a total rockstar. I have always loved her but never been to a live performance. the venue was GREAT- there were ONLY good seats, and everyone was so good about not fooling with their lit phones etc during the performance. we were all just rapt, present and in the moment. Gotta love New Yorkers and I was delighted it was downtown. Live theater at it's best. Also the minimal set/costume were perfect. I only wish I could see it again.

  • Eddie is Amazing

by Scott on 4/13/24Orpheum Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

We thought we liked Tennant's Hamlet and Branagh's Hamlet, but Eddie's performance blows them both away. We thoroughly loved her show, and her charisma obviously shines through before, during, and after the show. So glad we could see her!

  • Brilliance

Suzy’s performance was brilliant and breathtaking!

  • What a performance,

by BJ on 4/12/24Orpheum Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Hamlet by William Shakespeare, probably you have seen lots of different, One man/women (human) plays all the characters, even fights , unbelievable. It's a must see.

  • Incredible!

If you get the chance go and see Eddie Izzard in her version of Hamlet. Remarkable, entertaining, funny and very, very clever. A simple yet effective staging allows Eddie to shine. Do not miss this!

  • Masterful

I am a huge Izzard fan…I saw his stand up at The Beacon, “David Copperfield,” so this was a must see. I can only reiterate: MASTERFUL. A+

  • Eddie Izzard in Hamlet

by Charlie W on 4/10/24Orpheum Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Provocative and persuasive adaptation of Hamlet. Love Izzard’s skill and energy. Is Hamlet mad? Is he merely feigning? Izzard got me engaged.
