About

Eddie Izzard is a British comedian and actor born in Aden, Yemen. The genderfluid performer got her start in sketch comedy and street performance before launching her stand-up comedy career. Known for her rambling, stream-of-consciousness monologue style and self-referencing pantomime, Izzard won two Primetime Emmys for her 2000 special Dress to Kill. The comedian’s film and TV credits include Ocean’s Twelve (2004), Ocean’s Thirteen (2007), The Riches (2007), Valkyrie (2008), Cars 2 (2011), and The LEGO Batman Movie (2017). Izzard also earned a Tony nomination for the Broadway revival of A Day in the Death of Joe Egg. In 2024, she premiered her one-person adaptation of Hamlet, which will transfer to Chicago and London following its triple-extended run in New York City.

  • Brilliant!!!

by MTAO on 1/11/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Couldn't stop laughing! Brilliant performer.... great story teller...all around amazing performance! The large screens really helped to see his facial expressions - which can be key to the joke. So glad to see that his audiences have grown that he has to perform in a venue like the United Center. No makeup (except for eye liner) and no heels - that's ok - he's EDDIE IZZARD!!!!

The man was hilarious from beginning to end. I have seen him before, but he was in fine tune at this concert.

  • It was worth braving the frigid Chicago night!

My Sons's and I hope he comes back to this area again soon. I have seen hundreds of comedians, but Eddie Izzard made this a true EVENT. His comedy is brilliant and thought provoking. His set was amazing and gave you the chance to see his every facial expression. I have never been at a comedy event that was so long they had a 15 minute intermission. Parts of the evening even left me feeling motivated to spread good will. That is the beauty of observational comedy. Even the price of the premium tickets were less expensive than I have paid for comedians who are not nearly as well known.

  • Eddie warms up the windy city!

by izzardfanatic on 1/11/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Eddie Izzard is a comedian who channels stream of consciousness thinking. Sure he recycles some of his material, but who better to lead us through a journey of everything that has ever happened, minus a few gaps, then Eddie? What better way to foster an interest in the Greeks, the Romans and, dare I say, evolution versus God and Baby J?

  • Eddie was better than ever!!!

Eddie Izzard was as usual a brilliant entertainer! it was truly an amazing show, however my only disappointment was that he was not in his usual attire and makeup.

As always Eddie proves himself to be a world class comedian. Never a dull moment with his fast paced and original humor.

  • Eddie Delivers Again

by WhyWhyZ on 1/10/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen Eddie Izzard live three times now, and each time seems to get better. I know of no one whose comedy is as intelligent, insightful and as loony as Eddie's.

  • Excellend Show at United Center Chicago

Up there with Dressed to Kill! Laughed continuously for a good 2.5 hour show!!

  • The Big Intimacy

by Rattles on 1/10/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Eddie was in usual form. The twitter board he had running prior to the show was fun to read. I was disappointed that he was in "blokey" dress the entire show. No heels, liptick or nail polish. What gives?

  • by Audriana on 1/10/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Eddie's performance was, as usual, dead-on funny. He made observations on life, creation and religion without being distasteful. While atheists and non-believers likely rejoiced at his commentary, the religious should still have been able to see the humor.

  • Eddie was enlightening!!

by Anonymous on 1/10/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

His show was thought provoking to say the least. He brought history & religion to life.Humour on an intellectual level of enlightenment.Suitable for any adult audience with questions on life.I would highly recommend this show to any one that wants more than slapstick comedy.I wish Eddie had taught me history at school.

  • Eddie Izzard...fantastic!

So funny...I think I peed a little! I would pay anything to see him again.

Excellent Show. Eddie has incredible energy, and imagination.

  • An unmatched comedic experience

by VertigoMama on 1/10/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

The only comedian you'll see that will make you laugh and feel smarter afterward. Not only is he witty, but his physical comedy is unmatched. He really feeds off the audience. Of course the material is the same city to city, but you never feel like he's just going by script; he's very aware of the audience and its reaction. Plus Eddie is sexy!

  • Eddie Izzard - only so so

by boomkey on 1/10/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 2 out of 5

Disappointing - not as funny as shows seen on television, no "fun" outfit. New material not as funny as old material: Do you have a flag? Cake or death! Would not go again - I can watch comedy channel at home and, apparently, see his best routines.

  • Eddie Izzard was hilarious!

by Crazyophelia on 1/10/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Izzard's comedy is so unique - incredibly smart and relevant, plus he has this ability to build on previous jokes throughout his entire routine. If you ever get the chance to see him live, I highly recommend that you go. The only reason I give this particular event 4 stars instead of 5 is because the seats we were given were extremely crappy, but it's all we could afford, so it'd be nice if he lowered his ticket prices a bit. That issue aside, great performance!
