About

Eddie Izzard is a British comedian and actor born in Aden, Yemen. The genderfluid performer got her start in sketch comedy and street performance before launching her stand-up comedy career. Known for her rambling, stream-of-consciousness monologue style and self-referencing pantomime, Izzard won two Primetime Emmys for her 2000 special Dress to Kill. The comedian’s film and TV credits include Ocean’s Twelve (2004), Ocean’s Thirteen (2007), The Riches (2007), Valkyrie (2008), Cars 2 (2011), and The LEGO Batman Movie (2017). Izzard also earned a Tony nomination for the Broadway revival of A Day in the Death of Joe Egg. In 2024, she premiered her one-person adaptation of Hamlet, which will transfer to Chicago and London following its triple-extended run in New York City.

    Hooked on Eddie

by Cassiethemom on 1/9/10United Center - Chicago

I was so happy Eddie made it through the snow because he was so worth the ticket price. He does not do requests "I am not a jukebox" which is a good thing because almost every moment of the show was new material to me. I've seen all his DVDs and although this probably wasn't as polished as his DVDs, it was really really great! Eddie is not known for knowing exactly what he is saying next and that is such a gift. He is incredibly intelligent and his comic timing is incredible. If you have never seen him, he uses history and religion as the basis of most of his comedy, rather than "observation" as the basis. He uses the Fbomb as an adjective, but he is not foul or offensive. (as long as you don't mind the language). I happen to LOVE it as I think swearing is funny and he does it so well. His body language & expressions on his face are essential to his comedy and he is incredibly skilled at using them. It was electric to be in the live audience and the energy was great.

Eddie is as hilarious as ever

by WulfDaMedic on 1/9/10United Center - Chicago

Eddie Izzard's Stripped II show in Chicago last night was well worth the trip. He takes the audience on a trip through the history of mankind in a way that only he can. His comedic look at life challenges conventional wisdom, yet leaves you in stitches. Awsome show Eddie.

    Rehash

by EddieIzzardHugeFan on 1/9/10United Center - Chicago

I was disappointed as this is a rehash of last year's concert. If you saw his show last year, don't bother going to this one. Also, the venue was really awful. Stadiums/Arenas do not work for this type of show. The sounds bounced back, making it very hard to hear. I absolutely adore Eddie's work and own all of his DVDs, but this is one disappointed fan.

    Eddie Izzard Rocks Chicago

by Enchanteuse on 1/9/10United Center - Chicago

Eddie Izzard packed the United Center on a cold and snowy Chicago night and totally filled the huge arena with his wit, grace and humor. I loved him before; I adore him now. I wanted to skitch a ride on the back of the tour bus to the next stop in order to see how his stories and characters progress.

    Eddie Izzard

by seanchiro on 1/9/10United Center - Chicago

Probably not one of his better shows. Hate the people yelling out "Cake or Death" when there is a planned "encore" to tie up all of the random blitherings. Could have been more connected as shows have been in the past. Still love how Eddie can laugh at himself when there is not as large of a response to his humor from the audience. He should have this show perfected by the end of the tour.

    Izzard is mind boggling

    by Annunciata22 on 1/9/10United Center - Chicago

'Tho I think Eddie was "coming down with something" during his first stadium venture in the States his debut actually benefited from those sniffles (was it the Theraflu perchance?!). It made that wondrous mind of his scatter further and wilder than normal -- but there truly ain't anything normal about our lovely l'il Izzard. What a mind. What a world it inhabits. What historical events - true and embellished - it enables us visit. What animal friends it surrounds Eddie and us with, every one of 'em a treat. And not an ounce of smut ..... what a joy. Does that mind ever rest? How does the man shut off its imagination at night? Dr. Parnassus can keep Depp, Law and Farrell .... give me Izzard every time ...... and the aching sides. For ever grateful to RTE's Late Late Show and Gay Byrne for introducing him mmmmty.. years ago to an astonished Ireland and to me .... don't EVER grow old, Eddie - or cynical! Loved ya (still do).

What an absolute pleasure to sit down at a venue, and just laugh until your sides hurt. Eddie Izzard is a composite performer who continues to bring out new material that has your attention from the very beginning, and keeps you enthralled to the very end. Loved it, loved it, loved it.

    Cerebral Izzard WOWs Chicago

by denkaj on 1/9/10United Center - Chicago

Eddie Izzard never disappoints...Lot's of new material with a heavy dose of Izzard's deft observations made for an excellent evening. Truly a visual performer, Eddie took us from the day the Earth was created through modern day with plenty of detours (Eddie Izzard style) to keep it all interesting and relevant. In a word, "It Killed"

    If U Get Him U R Brilliant

by hangglidded on 12/17/09Brighton Centre -- UK - Brighton

Saw Eddie at Brighton Centre in November. Traveled from AZ to London to Brighton. Worth the trip. If live in the USA make the trip to C Eddie. Some bits are old (do wish for more new) but we are not there for just the bits; it's the delivery of the bits. No one does it better. I have a ticket for Madison Sq Garden which I won't be able to use. Hoping to sell it back.
