About

Eddie Izzard is a British comedian and actor born in Aden, Yemen. The genderfluid performer got her start in sketch comedy and street performance before launching her stand-up comedy career. Known for her rambling, stream-of-consciousness monologue style and self-referencing pantomime, Izzard won two Primetime Emmys for her 2000 special Dress to Kill. The comedian’s film and TV credits include Ocean’s Twelve (2004), Ocean’s Thirteen (2007), The Riches (2007), Valkyrie (2008), Cars 2 (2011), and The LEGO Batman Movie (2017). Izzard also earned a Tony nomination for the Broadway revival of A Day in the Death of Joe Egg. In 2024, she premiered her one-person adaptation of Hamlet, which will transfer to Chicago and London following its triple-extended run in New York City.

  • Eddie Izzard was Genius!

by kwmiracle on 1/10/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Eddie Izzard is a comic genius and his show was AMAZING! I have been a big fan for years and this was one the best Izzard shows I have seen! We had a fantastic time and his material was new and hilarious. Some Americans may not get his particular brand of humor, but if you have an open mind and enjoy good comedy then you will love Eddie Izzard.

  • Eddie Izzard is Amazing!

by Mairianna on 1/10/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Eddie started his US Stripped Too Big Intimacy Tour in Chicago to a full house in the United Center. Comics in large arenas are unusual but Eddie makes it work. Huge screens broadcast him larger than life around the venue so you can see the detail in his movement and facial expressions. It works! But it's Eddie's creative and playful mind that makes the performance worth the time and ticket price. If you don't laugh at his tangents you have probably had a lobotomy. His animal characters are hilarious! You'll laugh at the squirrel who survived Noah's Arc and the incarnation of Jazz Chicken. His analysis of parts of the history of the world remind me of Mel Brookes - Mel as a teenage boy. My cheeks hurt from laughing! Go NOW! You need to be able to say "I've seen Eddie Izzard, live."

Funny, engaging, smart, and delightfully British, Eddie Izzard is a must-see show. We flew to Chicago for this first stop on his 2010 American tour.

  • A Comic Legend

You can't go wrong with Eddie Izzard and his Chicago performance continued to prove that fact. His unique storytelling and "seamless" transitions make him one of the best comedians I have ever seen.

This man is brilliant and hilarious. His intelligent comedy is refreshing and provokes thought into more complex and widely accepted principles, ideas and beliefs. He is natural and seemingly unscripted in his scenes. You're a very talented man Mr. Izzard!

Eddie was brilliant, as he always is. No more needs to be said.

The show was good, the venue is a hard sit for tall people. Would love to have seen in a more intimate venue. How ever it was a good show overall and I find him to be entertaining, Was hoping to laugh till I wet my self but didn't cime close .......

All new material and he handled the large venue very well.

  • HUGELY disappointing

by cinemaphile on 1/9/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 2 out of 5

I love Eddie. I've seen him twice before live, and own all his previous acts on dvd and have watched them repeatedly. So that made this show even more disappointing when I found myself not only not laughing, but bored and checking my watch. I have seen worse comedians, of course, but in terms of expectations versus the actual quality, this is the most disappointing performance I have EVER seen. There were about three funny bits, but even those were dragged out far too long.

Although not his best work, Stripped Too was a lot of fun and very funny.

  • Eddie is a ROCKSTAR!!

  • Eddie was Spot On as Always!

by Emmadoose on 1/9/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

This is our third Eddie event, and as always, his energy and boyish enthusiasm only make his comedy even funnier! His ability to make the ridiculous seem normal and the normal seem ridiculous is the mark of an intelligent and inquisitive mind. You just gotta love him!

  • Eddie Izzard Big Intamacy Tour Was Awesome!

I laughed so hard for so long, I could hardly breath! The talent, intelligence and humor Eddie Izzard posesses is indescribable.

  • Delivered!

by Packyshow on 1/9/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

The show was as I expected. Eddie Izzard's walk through history is hilarious and dynamic, speckled with his trademark silliness. See him anytime you get the chance!

He was as funny as ever! It was a great show! I thoroughly enjoyed the show. I would highly recommend this show to any Eddie Izzard fan, both old and new.

  • Fantastic!

    by mariethe3rd on 1/9/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Stripped too is a great show with lots of small references to past performances for long time fans. Eddie is a fantastic performer and we hope he will return for his next tour with more dates in the central U.S.!

  • Eddie is the man!

by UPDudes on 1/9/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Eddie delivers again. This was our second time seeing him in Chicago. While Eddie was great, it was not as nice being in the United Center vs. a traditional theater. The echo was a bit annoying and it was kind of impersonal feeling. And even without makeup, Eddie managed to keep us laughing for 2 hours non-stop. Definitely worth the 8 hour trip!

It was awesome! So glad to see him in person! Would recommend to anyone!

  • totally fun

Great show! The United Center is not the best venue because you end up watching the video screens more than the man himself - which is an awful lot like just watching a DVD, Very smart and original show though and well worth while seeing him live.
