DRIVE-BY TRUCKERS IN CONCERT:

Southern rockers Drive-By Truckers have a penchant for tradition, recording their studio albums in analog and insisting on releasing their records on vinyl. The band's traditional approach extends to their beloved live concerts, where craft and musicianship take center stage and marathon sets are the norm. The Truckers may orbit just under the mainstream's radar, but their devoted followers wouldn't have it any other way — as one of the best-kept secrets in music, the band has fans eagerly awaiting their intimate 2014 tour dates in support of English Oceans, their tenth studio album.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1996, the Drive-By Truckers' path to success was slow but steady, aided by a grassroots online presence and their constant touring. Following the release of their first two albums Gangstabilly (1998) and Pizza Deliverance (1999), the band embarked on their first US tour, further added to their reputation as consummate performers with electrifying live sets. 2005's The Dirty South marked the band's first appearance on the Billboard 200, which the band has steadily climbed with each subsequent release. Following the release of their tenth studio album English Oceans in 2014, the band will hit the road for another rollicking tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Once again DBT do not disappoint. This is a band that puts out excellent albums, and a rare occurrence where they are even better live."

"I have seen DBT 30+ times and they always make me look around for the next show! I love their energy and how they play off each other! I have never been to a bad show and this one was no different."

"As always, DBT kept me smiling and singing. Hood and Cooley took turns telling us our favorite yarns, up close and personal."

  • Poor sound

by TVG on 8/3/22Greenfield Lake Amphitheater - WilmingtonRating: 4 out of 5

Great show except that the sound system was awful. Could not hear one on the guitars and the keyboards. Vocals were muddy as well. Great bad, great atmosphere, poor sound.

  • Great show in a classic Venue

by Mike13a on 5/3/22The Stone Pony - Asbury ParkRating: 5 out of 5

First off, its the Stone Pony so any show here is pretty good. Second, The Truckers came out to jam for the show. Women without Whiskey Marry me, Let there be Rock, Hell no I aint happy just rocked the house. Then they pulled out Adam Raised a Cain by Springsteen!!! I swore Bruce was going to walk on stage when I heard the opening guitar riff of that song. Great show that ended with "People who died" another cover that you know you've heard but have no idea of who the original singer was. (The Jim Carroll band, [who, see what I mean?] ). Anyway was a great way to spend a Spring evening in Asbury Park NJ

  • One of the best concerts ever

by jemjones on 5/2/22The Stone Pony - Asbury ParkRating: 5 out of 5

The Stony Pony was the perfect venue for the Drive-By Truckers. The band rocks!!! The joy on Matt Patton's face as he plays the bass is a sight to behold. Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley played together so intensely it's like they became one organic beast (or sou, if you prefer). I loved their songs even more live than on the many recordings I've heard over the years. This won't be my last Drive-By Truckers concert. Bring them back to the Pony soon.

  • Good show....BUT

by Kevin on 4/28/22The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

DBT always put on a great show...but in this case as well as the last time I saw them 3 years ago, the sound was managed VERY poorly. It appears that DBT relies on the venue's sound system and, more importantly, the venue's sound engineer run the board. The mix at this show was terrible, and it's an injustice to the band. Levels were managed purely to avoid distortion, various instrument levels (particularly keyboards) were very poorly balanced and sometimes those instruments were barely audible. Vocal levels were also poorly managed. The sound system itself at Danforth Music Hall is poorly designed and managed as well. Moving only 20 or 30 feet within the room resulted in a drastically different sound quality. Any half decent sound engineer should be checking levels and EQ at many places around the hall, not just at the board. The guy who was on the board, frankly, did a TERRIBLE job and it was very frustrating because DBTs music is complex and nuanced. The house sound system let them down at this show as it has at others. The show in Ottawa this night before was MUCH better. It would sure be nice if they could manage the board themselves at venues like this.

  • Drive-By Truckers - Excellent Show

by M. S. on 4/15/22Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra BeachRating: 5 out of 5

Great show in a very nice venue. These guys are very talented and entertaining. Nice personalities and great music.

  • Amazing Venue

by MLK 73 on 2/17/22The Fillmore - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

Bands were amazing live and the Fillmore is a perfect place to see them! Great sound and staff was top notch!

  • Dbt in Charleston

by Taft on 11/14/21The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

Great show as always - came on 9:15 pm played 2 hrs straight - venue was great too bar in both place had easy access and having open area in front was nice

  • I enjoyed the show immensely!

by patty_artist on 11/14/21The Charleston Music Hall - CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

The band played some of their favorites, and some new. The venue was a good size. Not too big. There were no bad seats!

  • Fantastic

by Turkey Tim on 10/24/21Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

One of the best concerts I had ever seen would definitely see them again playing for non stop 3 hours

  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    by W. O. on 10/24/21Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 4 out of 5

My wife and I drove down from Springfield Ohio for the show. We stayed in an airbnb close by so we could walk to the theater and enjoy the bistro right next door. This was our first Drive-By-Truckers show and had never heard of Buffalo Nickel. We thoroughly enjoyed both acts and would not hesitate to see either or both again. As usual, the Bijou does not disappoint.

  • Not bad, but not particularly exciting.

by CR Lutes on 10/20/21House of Blues Cleveland - ClevelandRating: 3 out of 5

The venue was cool, just wasn't to enthralled with the show. The main mic was overpowered by the guitars, making all the songs sort of blend together after a period of time. Not sure who would be responsible for this and I am by no means a sound engineer, but it definitely made the event less special.

  • Truckers great!

by Abe on 10/20/21House of Blues Cleveland - ClevelandRating: 4 out of 5

Opening act terrible and not reflective of Truckers music. Why can’t the main act start earlier, especially when it’s an older crowd. Start at 8:30 with no opening act.

  • Its f'n great to be alive.

by Puncheons 84 on 10/17/21Newport Music Hall - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Band was tight and the sound was crisp. New PA in the Newport is so much better than that sludge factory PA they had from the late 80's or early 90's. Patterson Hood was lively and its always nice to see bass player Patton live inside his smile

  • Fantastic show!!

by Buddhacat on 10/15/21Barrymore Theatre - MadisonRating: 5 out of 5

They played non- stop 2 hours. Hard working and playing band.

  • Awesome rocked the whole set and had a moment with Jason Is

by Yaya on 10/7/21Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 4 out of 5

Wonderful show at the welcoming Mother Church The Ryman

  • DBT hitting on all cylinders!

by Getlit on 10/7/21Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve been a Trucker’s fan for years and have seen them multiple times in several different venues. This was by far the best DBT show I’ve ever seen. Pure RocknRoll from the first guitar strum to the last fading keyboard note on Angels and Fuselage. Hood and Cooley seemed to have energy to spare and the band was tight, but not so tight that it zapped the raw energy! The two song cameo of Jason Isbell did not hurt anything either. I bought my tickets last year just before the pandemic shut everything down, so I was more than ready for the show, as apparently, so was the band! Great time. I highly recommend anyone to catch DBT on this tour!

  • Great band. Terrible mix

by Jackleg on 10/7/21Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 2 out of 5

Awful sound mixing at Ryman. Couldn’t hear any voice over jangling fuzzy guitar mix that ruined the great songs by the Truckers. Most bands get it right at Ryman. Swing and a miss for the Truckers.

  • Took three hours to get in

    by Nashville Native1 on 10/7/21Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 1 out of 5

The new covid check point to get into the show took 3 hours to get in. I finally got in at the tail end of the show. The Seat were half empty cause many people were giving up on the wait to get in. The show lacked energy because there was half the audience in there.

  • Still Truckin'

by Hoss on 10/7/21Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen the Truckers every time they've been in Nashville since 2002. From the lineup with Jason Isbell and Shonna Tucker, to the show with David Hood playing bass, to this show - they never cease to amaze. We were hoping that Jason Isbell would join his old crew on stage for a couple of songs, and weren't disappointed. In my mind, the Isbell/Hood/Cooley years were the highlight for DBT. Loved the show, loved the venue, can't wait until they come back again. D-B-T!

  • Drive By Truckers Deliver

    by s360bassist on 10/5/21The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

After playing an abbreviated set the nigjt before, DBT were dialed in and ready to play loud rock n roll. Announcing they were going to be playing much longer, they gave us over 2 hours of their Muscle Shoals sound. Once again, Drive By Truckers didn't disappoint. It's not in their blood.
