DRIVE-BY TRUCKERS IN CONCERT:

Southern rockers Drive-By Truckers have a penchant for tradition, recording their studio albums in analog and insisting on releasing their records on vinyl. The band's traditional approach extends to their beloved live concerts, where craft and musicianship take center stage and marathon sets are the norm. The Truckers may orbit just under the mainstream's radar, but their devoted followers wouldn't have it any other way — as one of the best-kept secrets in music, the band has fans eagerly awaiting their intimate 2014 tour dates in support of English Oceans, their tenth studio album.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1996, the Drive-By Truckers' path to success was slow but steady, aided by a grassroots online presence and their constant touring. Following the release of their first two albums Gangstabilly (1998) and Pizza Deliverance (1999), the band embarked on their first US tour, further added to their reputation as consummate performers with electrifying live sets. 2005's The Dirty South marked the band's first appearance on the Billboard 200, which the band has steadily climbed with each subsequent release. Following the release of their tenth studio album English Oceans in 2014, the band will hit the road for another rollicking tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Once again DBT do not disappoint. This is a band that puts out excellent albums, and a rare occurrence where they are even better live."

"I have seen DBT 30+ times and they always make me look around for the next show! I love their energy and how they play off each other! I have never been to a bad show and this one was no different."

"As always, DBT kept me smiling and singing. Hood and Cooley took turns telling us our favorite yarns, up close and personal."

  • Great live show

by Trucker Fan on 9/26/23Madison Theater - CovingtonRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve been trying to see DBT live for years. They did not disappoint. See them live. The albums are fantastic but the live show was awesome. American Aquarium was a pleasant surprise and I’ll listen to more of their music.

  • Bands sounded great.. but couldn’t see them.

by JS on 9/26/23Madison Theater - CovingtonRating: 4 out of 5

DBT and American Aquarium were awesome! Frustrating experience with the venue (and other guests) though. I was sitting in the balcony, but between acts, people went and stood along the railing. This made it impossible for anyone else in the balcony to see the stage. We went from 200 people being able to see to about 15.

  • A great live band

by Jake on 9/26/23Madison Theater - CovingtonRating: 5 out of 5

These guys are highly underrated and always deliver a stellar performance.

  • Blown away

by Matt Mc on 9/24/23Packard Music Hall - WarrenRating: 5 out of 5

Man, what a great experience from start to finish at the Drive By Truckers show in Warren,Oh .They played for a solid 2.5hrs and their musicianship and back and forth between 3 quality guitarists was beyond impressive. Already looking forward to the next time they're in the area!

  • Mediocre

by JGee on 9/24/23Packard Music Hall - WarrenRating: 2 out of 5

Boring venue. Boring show. American Aquarium was fun. Drive by Truckers unfortunately sounded dead. Waste of time.

  • Great Show!

by TrayJ on 9/24/23Packard Music Hall - WarrenRating: 5 out of 5

Great show in an intimate setting. Free parking and the band played on and on. Both bands were fantastic!

  • Great Show!

by JimBob on 9/20/23The Salt Shed - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Kudos to the Salt Shed for making a quick pivot to make this an indoor show based on the threat of weather. Show itself was amazing, room looks awesome, look forward to more shows here!

  • Excellent Venue and Line-up

    by k.c.greg on 9/20/23The Salt Shed - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

The Salt Shed is an amazing venue to see a show. The Drive-By Truckers were fantastic - and hard rocking. Seeing American Aquarium live made us what to see them live again a.s.a.p. The Jayhawks shined. This was an excellent line-up and experience.

  • Always Go to See the DBT's

by Laura Chicago on 5/8/23Bowery Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Bowery Ballroom - clean venue. Cool location, nice workers. Drive By Truckers with Lydia Loveless as supporting artist is a night to remember. Truckers have an extensive catalog, yet they do a good job at selecting set lists. Old + new songs, rock n roll + slow & thoughtful. Cannot wait to see them again!

  • Opening act so bad was hard to even stay for the DBTs

by Rumplestiltskin on 5/8/23Bowery Ballroom - New YorkRating: 1 out of 5

Opening act was just awful. With no showmanship and her self written songs were all about entitlement. Too bad - she has a decent voice. Drive by Truckers their usual mediocre selves. I alway hope somehow they’ll get better.

  • Drive-by Truckers Deliver the Goods

by Sunday Ramble on 5/8/23Bowery Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Lydia Loveless was amazing on her return to Bowery Ballroom and the Drive-By Truckers stretched out with a 2-1/2 hours long set, no breaks no encores. Great Drive-By Truckers show

  • Better the Second Time Around

by Marty on 5/8/23Bowery Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This was my second time seeing the Truckers. The first time, I wasnt familiar with all of their material. On this visit, I appreciated it so much more. I knew the songs they played and they sounded GREAT. Lydia Loveless was great too

  • Drive-by Truckers Bowery Ballroom

by Mrmoto on 5/7/23Bowery Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

DBT is one of the best bands around these days. From start to finish they play nothing but high octane rock and roll. Their new material from their latest album is fantastic, especially The Driver. Hopefully they will return to NYC soon.

  • Truckers & Loveless Can’t be beat.

by Eddie D on 5/7/23Bowery Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Great show by a great band. And Lydia Loveless should never be missed. Wish her set was longer .

  • Great show

by Hudley on 5/7/23Bowery Ballroom - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Only two beefs: 1 Cooley’s vocals were buried in the mix. No one had any idea what he was singing. 2 I understand playing the new stuff, I really do, but the Friday show at Bowery Ballroom was so stingy with the DBT classics that it felt cruel, a kind of snubbing.

  • Rock Show

by VCakes on 5/2/239:30 CLUB - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

The Truckers were typically transcendent and Lydia Loveless lived up to everything I’d previously heard about her; she and her band were stellar. Another fantastic night at 930, one of many over the decades!

  • A great experience from the opening act until the very end o

by Laura on 4/26/23The Senate - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

The Senate is great venue to see the Truckers. The Tru ckers played their hearts out. They seemed very hsppy to be at the venue and smiled and interCted with the crowd from start to finish. They played some of the best renditions of several of the songs I have ever heard them do. It was a great time. It reminded me of a homecoming show.

  • DBT

by Dr Heinken on 4/26/23The Senate - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

Wonderful music and service, but for those of us older folks standing for hours on a concrete floor is tuff, a few seats along the side or more in the back would be welcome

  • DBT, Let there be ROCK!

by East9th on 3/28/23The Joy Theater - New OrleansRating: 5 out of 5

DBT and Margo Cilker both put on great shows. The venue was nice, acoustics were good, service and accessibility were on point.

  • Great Band, Terrible Sound !!!

by Lonnie on 3/21/23Old Forester's Paristown Hall - LouisvilleRating: 2 out of 5

I have seen this band 5 times, they are one of my fav`s. They put on a pretty good show, but the sound was so lackluster that the crowd couldn`t get into it. Bands feed off of the energy from the crowd, and if you can`t hear the band, there will be no energy from that crowd. It was muffled and there was no presence in the lead vocals for both Patterson or Steve. With the venue having so many flat, bare concrete and glass surfaces, there needs to be some type of sound baffling material , or it`s always going to have mediocre sound. I was hoping for a great time and a really good review, because I love this band, but the venue and the sound let me down.
