DRIVE-BY TRUCKERS IN CONCERT:

Southern rockers Drive-By Truckers have a penchant for tradition, recording their studio albums in analog and insisting on releasing their records on vinyl. The band's traditional approach extends to their beloved live concerts, where craft and musicianship take center stage and marathon sets are the norm. The Truckers may orbit just under the mainstream's radar, but their devoted followers wouldn't have it any other way — as one of the best-kept secrets in music, the band has fans eagerly awaiting their intimate 2014 tour dates in support of English Oceans, their tenth studio album.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1996, the Drive-By Truckers' path to success was slow but steady, aided by a grassroots online presence and their constant touring. Following the release of their first two albums Gangstabilly (1998) and Pizza Deliverance (1999), the band embarked on their first US tour, further added to their reputation as consummate performers with electrifying live sets. 2005's The Dirty South marked the band's first appearance on the Billboard 200, which the band has steadily climbed with each subsequent release. Following the release of their tenth studio album English Oceans in 2014, the band will hit the road for another rollicking tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Once again DBT do not disappoint. This is a band that puts out excellent albums, and a rare occurrence where they are even better live."

"I have seen DBT 30+ times and they always make me look around for the next show! I love their energy and how they play off each other! I have never been to a bad show and this one was no different."

"As always, DBT kept me smiling and singing. Hood and Cooley took turns telling us our favorite yarns, up close and personal."

  • Great Live Performance

by Cmorgan904 on 6/9/14Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra BeachRating: 4 out of 5

Honestly never really listened to Drive By Truckers before the show. I had heard of them but not listened to the music. My girlfriend and I wanted to go see a show at the PV Concert Hall and decided to pick a upcoming show by a band we had never heard before and attend. Turned out to be a great choice. One of the best show so far this year, amazing live band. I am now a fan of their music.

  • Truckers were great.

by Anonymous on 6/9/14Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra BeachRating: 4 out of 5

I thought the truckers put on a great show. They played a lot of songs so we got plenty for our money. I thought that their opening act the water liars were just great as well. Both bands both put a lot into their performances and we will definitely go back and see them again.

  • DBT was awesome

Great show!!! DBT and Water Liars both rocked it. Really enjoyed it and will definitely go see both again.

Know DBT would not disappoint. Great show. Miss Shauna Tucker on base. She's cool. DBT is my favorite band for the last few years. The Culture Room is a fun venue. Had a great time and DBT once again rocked my butt off. Thanks Ticketmaster for the opportunity to catch them again.

Amazing is the only word that fits. One of the Top 5 live performances I've ever seen. The Drive-By Truckers put on a clinic and Rock was their medication

  • Drive By Truckers rock!

by Heathens on 4/1/14The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

I love the Pageant! Its a great place to see a concert. It's intimate and not a bad seat in the venue. The Drive By Truckers are a favorite of mine and they did not disappoint! Can't wait to see them again! I have seen them twice at the Pageant. Blitzen Trapper was great too!

  • by Anonymous on 4/1/14The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Both Blitzen Trapper & DBT were amazing! Always great to see live!

  • Guitars 10, lyrics 0

by Dybee on 3/31/14Pageant - St. LouisRating: 4 out of 5

I loved their enthusiasm and the full bore, balls to the wall three guitar attack, but these guys write wonderful lyrics and weave brilliant tales of life in America and these were lost in the sound mix. Others have rated their concerts low for their live sound mixes, but I think that is unfair because if you read the booklets that come with their CD's they always say something to the effect of "turn it up to ten and then twist off the knob". The guys left it all out on the stage after a good two hour set. I'm glad I finally got around to seeing one of my favorite bands and I'd recommend going to see them sometime if you love rock 'n roll. If they were your typical rock 'n roll outfit for whom the chorus was all I'd give them a five star rating, but I think some fans could be disappointed, so it's a four star review from me.

  • Good old solid rock show!

Great show, great band. These guys dont get enough credit for how good they are.

  • See this Drive-By Truckers tour

    by Cappy47 on 3/24/14Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The band sounded great, and Terminal 5 in NYC is a very cool venue. The boys are having a blast on stage again. They played almost every song off the new album, and (contrary to the typical eye roll at that suggestion) almost every one of them was rocking. Blitzen Trapper killed it as well. Unbelievable lineup.

  • DBT been playing them ever since Thursday

    by SamanthaNorth on 3/23/14Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

What a band is all I can say. First time I had seen DBT. I actually came for Blitzen Trapper and they were really good too. The combination of the great venue, the people who were there, fans of DBT and the onslaught of DTB's guitars made this one of the best concert experiences in quite some time.

  • Drive-By Truckers rock!

by Smcluer on 3/18/14The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

Best show show I have seen. The place was packed with people partying with the Drive- By Truckers.

  • Great Show!!

The Old 97s and DBT were amazing! It was an enjoyable show in a great venue.

  • That Southern Thing!

by RACrider on 11/12/13Newport Music Hall - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Dynamic as expected, rocking as expected. DBT was exactly as advertised. Pulling from a southern rock tradition that like the Allmans ventures away from Boogie British Blues based rock and just having a good time, they separate themselves from Southern Rock cliches by being more political and relying more heavily on the traditions of Southern Soul. This puts them in league with the Allman Bros. Band ( who drew on BeBop as an ancillary) and The Marshall Tucker Band ( which drew heavily on country swing, jazz and country.) They were tight and had a couple of extremely minor fluffs but it was hard to tell thanks to the venue. The Newport is a fun place to go but it has it's drawbacks which are basically architectural and these flaws can lead to a muddy sounding mix especially on the louder cuts.

  • Great band, venue... meh

by GuitarJockey on 11/11/13Newport Music Hall - ColumbusRating: 4 out of 5

Typical DBT show. They were fantastic. The sound on the other hand was lousy. dB's over fidelity. Vocals were buried and guitars levels were all over the place. Drums sounded great, but the bass was all mush. Checked out the FOH mixer occasionally, dude was sitting on his butt the whole night. Lazy sound guys make me crazy.

  • DBT rocked it.

by DBTdude on 11/11/13Newport Music Hall - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

DBT were great, but I would recommend seeing them somewhere other than Newport Music Hall. The sound levels seemed off: too much bass, hard to hear vocals, but not unbearable. The musicians' performance made up for this, though.
