For the Kids
by Charm on 12/4/21The National Theatre - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5I went to this performance on Wednesday evening, my first theater performance back since the pandemic. It was great to be back in the theater. For the show itself, it was ok. The kids in the audience loved it. As an adult who's watched the Grinch all her life, its hard to not have high expectations. The Whos had the best performances and costumes. The Grinch itself, they could do much better with his costume, especially the face. I couldn't help thinking that it didnt really look like the Grinch. I think the impersonators you see on the street look better as the Grinch and have a better interpretation. Also, the dog doesnt look like the Mac from the cartoon. I thought the dog in this play looked more like a skunk. I think that overall, for the adult Grinch lovers, they need to tweak those costumes and the dialogue, even songs for the Grinch and Max a bit more and take it to the next level it should be at. The sets were pretty cool. Overall, its "C" grade for me. But, for the parents, the kids will enjoy it.
