Amateurish but fun for young kids. The cast could be better.

About
Come on! ¡Vámonos! Nickelodeon's Dora the Explorer returns to the stage in DORA THE EXPLORER LIVE! Everyone's favorite Latina heroine stars in her own live adventure in "Search for the City of Lost Toys." Dora, along with Boots, Swiper and all her friends, needs the help of the audience to solve puzzles and overcome obstacles to find her lost teddy bear. Come sing along and learn a little Spanish too! It's an exciting musical for the whole family!
Rating: 2 out of 5by Anonymous on 6/18/12Sherman Theater - Stroudsburg Rating: 2 out of 5 That show was a hot mess!
by singinfool on 6/17/12Sherman Theater - StroudsburgThe Sherman theatre did a pretty shabby job of Dora Live! The cast missed multiple cues, often looking at each other like deer in headlights. I am not exaggerating...the map would miss two out of the three "destinations" and the pirate pigs (aka, elderly women!) entered only to realize they weren't supposed to be onstage. Certain characters--the backpack for instance--barely showed expression and Dora, who had a beautiful voice and wonderful expression, was often seen adjusting her wig. I felt like the cast needed another week or two of rehearsals. Even the conductor was caught mouthing the wrong words to the audience! The costumes ranged from fair to pathetic. Finally, the sound/microphones were a big disaster, cutting in and out on the actors at any given moment. On a positive note, the young men portraying Diego and Swiper the Fox were OUTSTANDING. They were in a league of their own...beyond talented. Their voices were powerful and amazing. Congrats to them, I would go back to see these two gentlemen perform any day! This is my review...as a parent and as a performer. To be fair, my 3 year old children LOVED this performance. We still talk about the day we saw the "real" Dora and Diego! And I understand, the show was for them and not me. But when you pay twenty-something dollars a ticket, one would expect a little more professionalism from a theatre company.
Rating: 1 out of 5 not worth the price of addmission
by mel698 on 6/15/12Sherman Theater - StroudsburgDora the explorer live was not worth the price they charged for admission. Very amateur bad props and horrible costumes. We saw Sesame Street Live for the same price and it was awesome. Do not waste your money on this show.
Rating: 3 out of 5by RudyLive on 6/14/12Sherman Theater - Stroudsburg I was a great show for my daufghter's birthday present, even though she was sick and we couldn't get our money back. But glad it turn out well.
Rating: 1 out of 5 Dora the Explorer Live was so disappointing.
by biogym08 on 6/14/12Sherman Theater - StroudsburgCan I give it a ZERO star rating? From the show to the theater, the experience was disappointing. The costumes were dirty/didn't fit right and some didn't really look much like costumes. There were problems with the sound and characters were cutting out. The set was dirty and some of the scenery was broken and put back together. The choreography was not well done and characters were out of step. Overall it seemed like the show was thrown together overnight and it was a big disappointment. To top it off, the theater is run down and the bathrooms didn't even have soap to wash hands even after I complained to an employee. I will NEVER go back. Other friends who I spoke to after the show were equally disappointed.
Rating: 3 out of 5 Dora Live HUGE disappointment!!!!
by mammabear2 on 6/13/12Sherman Theater - StroudsburgThis wasn't at all what I was expecting. It was one step above a high school play...just barely!! Bootleg costumes w/worse acting & some hand puppets thrown in. TG my 2yrs didnt know any better but I certainly did
Rating: 2 out of 5 Not Nick
by JavaManJohn on 6/13/12Sherman Theater - StroudsburgI saw Dora Pirate Adventure a while back when Nick had a live show tour. I wasn't expecting this to be on the same level. So I had reasonable expectations. Well, the show did not even live up to them. The sound was terrible. The props were on the level of a high school play and the actors were average at best.
Rating: 2 out of 5 Dora never
by Medonolike on 6/13/12Sherman Theater - StroudsburgStarted late because of storm and accidents.....sound quality and blackouts with audio.....story cute needed to rehearse more...thank goodness for Swiper....waited 45 min for photo and should have been permitted to take my own...
Rating: 1 out of 5 Dora Live was cheaper than a high school play!
by Mommyanonymous on 6/13/12Sherman Theater - StroudsburgI was so disappointed in this show! The map forgot his lines quite a few times. Dora looked NOTHING like Dora. The microphones kept going on and off. Sad I paid money for this!
Rating: 3 out of 5 Nice show..a little on the cheesy side...
by bostonhok on 6/13/12Sherman Theater - StroudsburgMy daughter loved the show so that made it totally worth it. There was a long intermission that is probably not the best with a large group of toddlers. Props were a little cheesy...expected a little more from Nickelodeon. I thought that it was great to let the kids meet the cast....my daughter loved that! I'd take her again.
Rating: 1 out of 5 What a disappointment!
by debjrem on 5/28/12Sherman Theater - StroudsburgI drove over an hour and a half for a show that was the same calibur as a high school production. The costumes were horrible, the acting, audio and lighting were embarassing. Folks from the show, please do not quit your day jobs. Half the time, the audio was cutting in and out and the person handling the lighting missed the cues. This was upsetting to watch and to think I spent the money to purchase tickets for a show like this. I feel like I was taken for a ride. Ticketmaster, you should never have allowed such a bootleg type show to sell tickets on your website. This does nothing but give you a bad name. I will say that although I spent the money I spent, my daughter did enjoy herself. Thank goodness the primary audience for this theater were 2-6 years olds because they would have otherwise been gonged on the gong show at the opening act.
Rating: 1 out of 5 DORA GONE WRONG
by lttlchngrl21 on 5/27/12Sherman Theater - StroudsburgI took my 4 year old daughter and 3 year old niece. This show was horrible. We bought the tickets thinking it was for a Nickelodeon production and it was the complete opposite. The set design was horrible and the clothes on the characters was dirty and too small. The microphones kept cutting out and all the props were made out of cardboard and some were even duck taped together. The show was given at a little theater in stroudsburg Pa which I was not aware of. Ticket Master should not be allowed to sell for this events. I go to a lot of shows by Nickelodeon and always purchase through ticket master. I spent a $100.00 on these tickets and if I would have known it was not a true Dora Live show I would not have purchased these tickets. I traveled an 1 1/2 for this show and was very disappointing. I will be demanding a refund due to wrong advertising! I will be very surprised if there were not other people that are trying to do the same thing.
Rating: 1 out of 5 Not what I expected
by LBPA on 5/27/12Sherman Theater - StroudsburgI'm not sure who wrote the 800+ excellent ratings on this show, but I really wish I would have looked at the 20 one-star ratings. This show was not worth the money I paid for it. The props and costumes were cheap. The performers were okay, but the Dora seemed as if she was a substitute because she had to look at the other performers for cues. The microphones skipped in and out and you couldn't hear the songs very well. I will say however, that my three year old loved the show which I guess is what counts... On another note, the Sherman theater did not even have soap in the bathrooms and the floor in the bathroom was soaking wet!
Rating: 1 out of 5 Failed to mention!
by Jessie069 on 4/20/11St.George Theatre - Staten IslandI cannot believe I failed to mention that the "whale" was literally a CARDBOARD CUT OUT ON A STICK !!!!!
Rating: 1 out of 5 Cheap High School Play!
by Jessie069 on 4/20/11St.George Theatre - Staten IslandI would say this was an OKAY production if it were for a High School play. I am extremely disappointed. The characters weren't even in costumes. The Dora character wore a pink shirt and had short hair. That's it! I could have stayed at home and done the show myself! DO NOT waste your money and take your kids to something else. I wish I had known. I see many great reviews. Maybe if I had front row seats....BUT LITERALLY front row orchestra seats, it would have been a tad bit better but not much. I sat in an average section in the middle and the characters couldn't be differentiated. Do not waste your money.
Rating: 3 out of 5 Dora Show
by rd2135 on 4/17/11St. George Theatre - Staten Island, NYThe show was a hit for my 2year old kid as evident from him jumping around delightfully and saying Dora over and over again. I was expecting a broadway caliber performance but instead seemed like a high school level production. My kid had a blast and that matters most. However, I think Dora deserves better funding to improve quality of entertainment
Rating: 5 out of 5 Excellent
by raleigh5 on 3/14/11Progress Energy Center - RaleighThe show was great. All 3 kids loved it. Would definitely see it again.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Great Show!!!
by Nayamama on 8/4/10Fox - AtlantaThis show was awesome. My 5 year old had a great time. The show was high energy, entertaining and a interactive. Great sing-a-longs, and my daughter really felt like she was part of the show.
Rating: 3 out of 5 Diego was better!
by rhinomomo on 10/13/09Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San AntonioCute, but not fabulous. Maybe it's because we saw the Diego show a couple of years ago. That one was GREAT! Dora didn't have the same level of entertainment. It was not as engaging and the songs weren't that good (no wonder they didn't have a CD for sale!). My kids still rave about the Diego show, but the Dora show was forgettable. They never mention it.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Dora was Awesome
by Nursefos on 10/10/09Broward Ctr for the Perf Arts Au Rene Theatre - Ft LauderdaleWe went to see Dora @ the Broward Center for Performing Arts. The show was so entertaining. We had a party of eight. Three adults and five children. All of us were captivated by the show. They were even able to let Diego and baby cougar make an appearance. The kids talked about the show for days.
