DMX in Concert
All DMX seems to make is top-selling records, beginning with 1998's It's Dark and Hell Is Hot. Collectively, his first five albums have gone platinum 15 times, and, as of late, DMX has been gracing stages all over the map with a 20th Anniversary Tour of the album that started it all. On stage, little has changed over the past 20 years. His live performances continue to showcase the same unique anthemic style, fierce braggadocio and passionate flair that he's always brought. His uncannily deep, raspy flow's still there, too, along with the highly recognizable grunts and hollers that could only come from DMX. At an April 2019 show at Manhattan's Irving Plaza he teased and toyed with the crowd before dropping his breakthrough single, "Ruff Ryders Anthem," as they roared along with the star.
DMX Background
Born Earl Simmons in Mount Vernon, New York, DMX grew up in Yonkers. As a troubled teen, he found himself wandering the streets late at night and befriending street dogs, spawning a theme that frequently appears in his music (most famously in his first charting single, "For My Dogs"). DMX has released nine studio albums, featuring such guest vocalists as Jay-Z, Cam'ron, Aaliyah and even Patti LaBelle. A father of 15, today DMX is a devout Christian and a deacon in his church. An entertainer at his core, DMX has had leading roles in a number of films, including Romeo Must Die with Jet Li and Exit Wounds with Steven Seagal. He gave what is arguably his marquee performance as Tommy "Buns" Bundy in Hype Williams' 1998 hip-hop epic, Belly.
Amazing, legendary, one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to A LOT. Sounded even better in person. Will definitely be going if they come again.
DMX did a awesome performance! I have always been a fan but after this concert it truly seals the deal! Absolutely love him and his energy!

Great show!! Bone thugs came out and did a great job and didnt let anyone down. My man DMX was fired up and gave an unforgettable performance.
Loved all the acts and DMX was amazing! Will definitely be going back to venue for concerts in the future.
literally the best show i been to and iv been to alot of concerts and its in the #1 spot so far every artist at the show i grew up listening to and it was the best experience iv had at a concert. all positive energy everywhere and everyone great performances from all artist it was insane
The concert was dope. DMX has the crowd rocking he whole night. He’s a dope artist and poet at heart. I truly enjoyed him!!
It was a great concert but wish he would have come out earlier and performed longer. Wish some of the Ruff Ryders could have performed as an opening act
This is the second concert at house of blues time on ticket was different then show. Ticket said seven got to show it’s not till eight waste of an hour standing then Dmx didn’t come till 1015 I could have stayed at home another hour of ticket didn’t read 7 Please make sure ticket time is right on tickets it’s a waste of our time. A lot of standing for people with health issues I’m giving 5 for Dmx performance but 1 Star for house of blues ticket handling and wrong times printed. I like the venue but hope you guys fix the problem so I can continue to enjoy.
Dmx still got it after all these years. His energy was high and he didn't disappoint. This was ny first time seeing him and it was great. He sang all my favorite songs. The crowd was into it and everyone had a good time. He was great!
Was awesome to see a great in person. Awesome show can’t wait for the next tour.
DMX came on late, put on a great show. I would have liked to see more from him or give an encore. Crowd was a variety and I was pleased with no fights, shooting, shoving or pushing on the general admission floor. Drink prices can be improved (cheaper) FOR SURE! especially for a G.A. seating where ppl have to stand all night, accommodate somewhere! Overall a blast
I was fortunate to actually shoot this event from the Photographers pit. Personally the energy was excellent and the majority of the crowd on the floor were true DMX followers. Engaging with him in nearly every song performed. I thought it was very entertaining and a great audience for an artist no one has forgotten!
Loved the show, was short, hard hitting, and all songs were familiar. It was my first time at 20 Monroe and I will for sure be going back
Came out late but had great energy. Great to set a legend in action
Based off prior reviews, we expected DMX to come on late, so we didn't get to the HOB until almost 10. We had to stand off to the side, but we luckily found some wall space for leaning while we waited until after 11:15 for DMX to come on! His opening act didn't even come on until 11! DMX's actual set was good, but only about an hour. Glad we didn't wait 3+ hrs to see him like a lot of ppl there did. Too bad he came on late and played a short set...he was amazing when he was on stage.
Great show once he got on stage. it took him way too long to come on stage. It was close to 11pm that he came on. I was about to leave. Show started 8pm. He came on 3 hours later smh
DMX is and has always been, my favorite rapper. So I flew from Memphis to Houston to see the show. Only for him to come out 3 hours late and do 30 minutes worth of performing. 😭😭😭
He showed 2 hours late for the show !!! Too bad . Noghong good to say
