About

DMX in Concert

All DMX seems to make is top-selling records, beginning with 1998's It's Dark and Hell Is Hot. Collectively, his first five albums have gone platinum 15 times, and, as of late, DMX has been gracing stages all over the map with a 20th Anniversary Tour of the album that started it all. On stage, little has changed over the past 20 years. His live performances continue to showcase the same unique anthemic style, fierce braggadocio and passionate flair that he's always brought. His uncannily deep, raspy flow's still there, too, along with the highly recognizable grunts and hollers that could only come from DMX. At an April 2019 show at Manhattan's Irving Plaza he teased and toyed with the crowd before dropping his breakthrough single, "Ruff Ryders Anthem," as they roared along with the star.

DMX Background

Born Earl Simmons in Mount Vernon, New York, DMX grew up in Yonkers. As a troubled teen, he found himself wandering the streets late at night and befriending street dogs, spawning a theme that frequently appears in his music (most famously in his first charting single, "For My Dogs"). DMX has released nine studio albums, featuring such guest vocalists as Jay-Z, Cam'ron, Aaliyah and even Patti LaBelle. A father of 15, today DMX is a devout Christian and a deacon in his church. An entertainer at his core, DMX has had leading roles in a number of films, including Romeo Must Die with Jet Li and Exit Wounds with Steven Seagal. He gave what is arguably his marquee performance as Tommy "Buns" Bundy in Hype Williams' 1998 hip-hop epic, Belly.

First, the Concert Hall is a great venue especially if you have great seats. Second, DMX was hype from start to finish. Sip and pass...

    D-M-X nuff said!!!

by Escape851 on 7/2/12Neal S Blaisdell Concert Hall - Honolulu

One of the best Hip Hop concerts I've been to. DMX brought mad energy to the crowd. Although the sound technicians could have worked the boards better so we could hear his lyrics clearly, it was still a solid concert overall. Real DMX heads represented. Peace!

DMX Gives You More For YOur Money

    by HipHopFan159 on 6/19/12The National - Richmond

I caught DMX in Philly and it was the most energy I have seen at a Hip Hop concert is all of my life. X was acting like he was promoting his first album. I mean the show was FIRE!!! I am about to buy some of the old albums that I copied from friends of mines. He deserves the royalties. I am coming to Richmond also for this show. The National is the hot spot so I will be there. Thank you, tour company, the National and DMX. Thanks for touring. Save Hip Hop, please.

DMX was great, but the sound was poor. His mic wouldn't work most of the time that he was singing. Concert was probably priced too high and not promoted enough - attendance was small.

Waited 5 hours and 15 minutes for DMX to come on stage, and got tired of waiting so we left. There were no bar stools to sit on so you were standing the whole time. Show started at 8:00 and by 12:15 still no DMX. A waste of $25.00, and I thought axl rose was bad DMX is worse for waiting.

    DMX was amazing

by candithegreat on 9/9/11Emerald Theatre - Mt. Clemens

DMX was simply amazing. It was really good to see him grace the stage again, his energy level started at 10 and stayed there the whole time. He really interacted with the crowd like a champ. what I didnt like it is the doors opened at 7 but DMX didnt hit the stage til after midnight. From 7-10:30 there was nothing going on just tracks playing seemingly on repeat and the venue didnt have food only drinks. Even the lack luster amateur opening acts didnt take the stage til after 11. The event was a standing room only show, to have patrons standing around for 4 hours is unacceptable. The event was poorly planned every 30 minutes or so the host would announce that the show was about to start. Again DMX was worht the wait but all the extra stuff-not cool

    Great Performance (Jeremih & DMX)

by Ginnny on 9/28/09DCU Center - Worcester

Loved how they brought together new and evolving music from Jeremih with old school rap from DMX. it was such a Phenomenal show. Jeremih brought his uptempo and creative lyrics to the stage, putting on a great preformance in all aspects of the words. DMX closed the show with all his most favored lyrics preformed. Serving as an "Amplifier" to the night and mood of fans. Great show overall. Great preformances definitely worth seeing !!!!

    Bone was excellent!!!

    by SWhite2469 on 9/8/09Chene Park - Detroit

My main reason for going to the show was to see Bone Thugs N Harmony. It was a bit disappointing not to see Bizzy and Flesh. However, Krayzie, Layzie, and Wish rocked it. They did many of their old school hits such as “First of the Month” and “Thuggish Ruggish Bone.” They also did some of their newer hits from Strength and Loyalty. During the show they gave props to Michael Jackson, Eazy-E, Tupac, and Biggie. I really enjoyed their performance. DMX was also entertaining. He did all of his hits and had great crowd interaction. Juvenile was replaced by E-40 who also performed well. He brought along D-Shot and B-Legit and they threw one hell of a show. The opening act was a hometown favorite, Boss. Even though she only performed a handful of songs. She still did a great job. The only problem I had with the show was the fact that it started about an hour later than what the ticket originally said. Other than that it was a 10+.

    Strange but Dope

    by SPX0310 on 9/5/09Chene Park - Detroit

E40 was good, Bone was excellent, X was a little erratic, but solid. Waaaaaay to much time wasted playing records instead of live music.

    DMX was absolutely amazing!

by MeLLiEbEllY on 8/12/09Revolution Live - Ft Lauderdale

DMX, Ballgreezy, Casely, Grindmode(Chaos) and DJ GQ were all awesome! I had so much fun at this event. I was so close to the stage! It was an unforgettable evening for me. The performances were off the chain! DMX was the best! I would definately do it all over again! I was a little upset that Mr Vegas and Ace Hood didnt show up though. They would have been awesome. =0(
