About
Don't miss the smash Broadway musical that's based on the 1991 Disney film. "Beauty and the Beast" tells the story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial French town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped in a spell placed by an evil enchantress. If the beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will be ended and he will be transformed into his former self. Time is running out. If Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity. Music by Alan Menken. Lyrics by Howard Ashman & Tim Rice.

by huggles33 on 3/10/15Shubert Theatre - New HavenBeauty and the Beast was a great first theatrical event for my 7 year old niece. She was a bit anxious as to what to expect....she definitely enjoyed the show. I had seen it on Broadway and thought this show was a little different on a smaller stage. I guess I expected it would be exactly the same but seemed to me to be smaller in many ways.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Excellent play
by Evelynsmom on 3/10/15Shubert Theatre - New HavenThe play was excellent and the cast was great. Sitting in the balcony was a little difficult - at times it was hard to hear some of the dialogue and there were a couple of scenes where the characters were up on the "staircase" and the view was blocked by the scenery around the stage. Other than that, though, it was excellent. Personally, I thought a couple of the songs that were added to the play and not in the movie were unnecessary and added to the length of the play, but still nothing to really complain about.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Spectacular!
by MESWZ on 3/10/15Shubert Theatre - New HavenThere is not one thing that I can say that wasn't perfect in this marvelous touring, Beauty and the Beast production. Gaston (Cameron Bond) was perfection. From the choreography to the stage setting, costumes, music, it was beyond anything that I had expected. SO happy I had the experience.
Rating: 4 out of 5 A tale as old as time....
by Jessa13 on 3/10/15Shubert Theatre - New HavenThis was a beautiful production of Beauty and the Beast. It was just as incredible as when I saw it on Broadway in NYC. My old complaint is that they dropped "no matter what" which happens to be one of my favorite songs from the musical!

Rating: 1 out of 5by Anonymous on 3/9/15Shubert Theatre - New Haven Overall I did not have a good experience with the show or theatre. I went to the 7 pm show and paid a decent amount for even balcony seats. People and children were very loud and rude, speaking or changing chairs during the entire show. We could hardly hear the actors. Our seat was right below the lighting crew so we also had a tough time seeing the stage. I am glad I didn't not pay the few hundred dollars for floor seats because the show was not worth even the money that I spent. I was very disappointed with the theatre, show, and seating.
Rating: 3 out of 5 Beauty and the Beast Understudies Friday Night
by Mook9 on 3/9/15Shubert Theatre - New HavenI was very happy with the majority of the show! It was really done well. I was disappointed however, to find out that, the lead, Bell would have an understudy going on for a Friday night performance. I did spend a good amount of money on the tickets and this did put a damper on the performance. It was clear that she was a replacement. In addition to that, there were three other understudies; one of them for Lefou. :(
Rating: 3 out of 5 Was expecting more
by Anonymous on 3/9/15Shubert Theatre - New HavenI went expecting something much more than what I encountered. I would like to see it on Broadway however since this didn't satisfy me.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Solid Performance
by DisneyFanBoy on 3/9/15Shubert Theatre - New HavenI would recommend seeing Beauty and the Beast, with one caveat. The orchestra for the touring group is small. I wanted a more full sound. Overall, the performance was very good, although I'm not sure I can say "excellent." Some of the acting was too "cartoon-y" even for a Disney animated movie adaptation. In particular, the Beast did not evoke enough of a sense of fear. He, and much of the cast, was catering to the children in the crowd. In the "On Broadway" version, there was a slightly more professionalism. I will admit this is a very particular concern that does not take away from the overall enjoyment of the performance.

Rating: 5 out of 5 Beauty and the Beast was amazing!
by fway33 on 3/9/15Shubert Theatre - New HavenWe attended the Thursday evening performance and we were not disappointed. What a great job by all in the cast, and the orchestra was fantastic too. We brought my daughters and they still have not stopped talking about it. Loved the dance with the metal mugs, btw. All aspects of this show were top notch.

Rating: 5 out of 5 Unexpected joy of a show
by JonnyF61 on 3/8/15Shubert Theatre - New HavenI had bought these tickets for my wife to see the musical Beauty and the Beast. I was ok with going and 5 mins into the show I was amazed on how professional this was done. The show kept you in the edge of your seat and was hilarious at parts and sad at others. Was an amazing show and say everyone should see it
