This show surprised me. I have seen many Broadway shows, and have never been disappointed before. This show was flat. There was no chemistry between leads, or anyone else for that matter. The dancing was stiff, and lacked passion. The characters were mimicking the actors from the movie, rather than their characters. Why does Baby need an unnaturally curly wig just because Jennifer Grey has naturally curly hair?
The set was overly technical, showing scenes from the movie as backdrop. The water scene was comical, with a dry bubble in the image for the actors. The pretend driving and car door closing sounds, were more in line with a high school production. I see live Broadway productions for the live theater experience. I can watch the movie at home if I wish.
In comparison to Phantom of the Opera or Mamma Mia, this show does not even rank. Please keep Live Theater live.
