Dionne Warwick in Concert

When you see Dionne Warwick perform, you know you're in the presence of pop-music royalty. This is a woman who's remained one of America's top hitmakers throughout multiple eras, contributing classic songs one after another. At the same time, Warwick radiates the warmth that lies at the core of her legendary hits, and for all of her undeniable elegance, her onstage presence couldn't be more natural and down-to-earth. Despite the many decades Warwick has been bringing her unique brand of pop to the stage and studio, her sultry, hypnotic voice remains undiminished. Hearing her deliver songs she made famous, like "I Say a Little Prayer" and "What the World Needs Now Is Love," is like opening a love letter from another era that bears just as much of an emotional impact today as it did back then.

Dionne Warwick Background

Though she's one of the world's premier pop singers, Dionne Warwick actually started out as a gospel singer with The Drinkard Singers and The Gospelaires. In the early 1960s, however, she crossed paths with iconic songwriting team Burt Bacharach and Hal David. The two men were working on sophisticated pop material and they found the voice that matched their vision in Warwick. Her recordings of tunes like "Walk on By" and "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" led to huge successes for both the singer and the songwriters, while helping to define the era in pop music along the way. That in itself would be enough to ensure Warwick's place in history, but she kept reinventing herself in the decades to come with hits like 1971's "Then Came You," 1982's "Heartbreaker," and 1985's "That's What Friends Are For," proving that her talent was bound to no single time period.

    Dionne is timeless!!!!

by BestMusicEver on 2/3/10Lakeland Center Youkey Theatre - Lakeland

I thought the audience was very stale. I was a little disappointed in my Lakeland when they had to be told to applaud for musicians who were giving them their best without auduience participation. The audience finally got it and ended on a more upbeat note. I thought that Dionne Warwick was as usual FANTASTIC. What beautiful music and she's still GOT IT! To the Lakeland Center thanks for bringing her here to us.

    Dionne Warwick was Superb!

by MuzicMan1 on 2/3/10Lakeland Center Youkey Theatre - Lakeland

Just an overall excellent performance from a suberp singer and musical legend! Dionne was very interactive with the crowd, which was refreshing. Her son is an excellent singer also, and he did a few numbers for the show as well, along with a couple of duets. The band was great also, which only made the overall experience very enjoyable. Very glad I got to see this legend. She is in very good form for 69 years old!

Dionne's voice is still as beautiful as when I first heard her in the 60s. But we bought tkts to hear her.....not her son. She handed over the stage to him to start the show and we listened to him for the 1st 40+ minutes.

    Dionne and Son

by Toms1234 on 1/16/10Sound Board at MotorCity Casino Hotel - Detroit

Have seen Dionne in the past in concert, her voice is sounding better than ever. Can appreciate her bringing her son on the road with her (David Elliott) who is very talented. Would rather have Dionne sing 3 or 4 more of her hit songs than have her son openning the show. Dionne is a legend catch her while you can. P.S. For the screamers in the audience, it gets annoying after awhile.

    a good surprise

    by imag8r on 11/14/09Potawatomi Casino/Northern Lights Theater - Milwaukee

i saw dionne warwick years ago at the riverside theater and do not remember much about it. was that good. This concert at the potawatomi casino was wonderful. the venue was small and personal and the show was great. Dione introduced her first act and it was her son. He has a beautiful voice and I really enjoyed it. then Dione Warwick came on and belted out many of her great songs. she was awesome. she had a backup band that was great and the part when she played songs from Brazil was superb. she ended her show with a duet with her son singing "that's what friends are for" and had the audience join in. When the concert ended it left me with a good feeling and left me singing her songs all the way home. Loved it.

    Beyond Excellent

by ConcertGeru on 11/13/09Potawatomi Casino/Northern Lights Theater - Milwaukee

She sounded amazing. Being the fact that she performed in the 60's and I'd been to many concerts. I was a tad bit worried that she might not sound ummmm should we say as she used to. But, she held her own. She revamped a few hits, like do you no the way, but all she did was jazz it up a bit, the sound blended very nicely. She's still a very beautiful Woman with lots of talent and a very talented band. great show!

by FanToo on 11/13/09Potawatomi Casino/Northern Lights Theater - Milwaukee

Ms. Warwick's performance was a wonderful walk down memory lane. Her voice continues to be impressive. Her style is entertaining and charming. It was delightful to view the warmth and playfulness between Ms. Warwick and her son, David Elliott, singer-songwriter. David inherited his Mother's charm, her entertaining style - and, a musically gifted voice. I am impressed, thrilled and delighted to have the opportunity to hear and see Ms. Warwick.

by djdarth on 11/13/09Potawatomi Casino/Northern Lights Theater - Milwaukee

This was one of the best performances ever. The audience was soooo excited and happy, I've never seen so many people smiling. Ms. Warwick is still an amazing singer and her medley of songs was perfect. I want to thank her for introducing us to her son David Elliott and I can't wait to be sitting in the audience at one of his shows. I had the best time ever. Would see her again in a heartbeat. Thank you.

The Hal David/Burt Bacharach retrospective was a stroll down memory lane. And the new takes on some of the Warwick favorites were a new way for new fans to make her music thier own.

    In great voice

by Tenderhearted on 9/12/09Hard Rock Live - Biloxi

Dionne's show was fabulous! She was in great voice, able to reach high notes and sustain them. She sang all her hits and other familiar songs of the same era. I just wished the concert could have lasted longer.

Dionne Warwick --An Evening to Cherish

by yankeeanne on 7/10/09The GRAMMY Museum - Los Angeles

Dionne is such a consummate professional and her sophistication and humanity were evident throughout the interview. I admire her honesty and the pride she takes in her craft. What a privilege to gain insight into such a talented and caring human being. We laughed, we cried, we applauded. Then we were treated to a few songs. Alfie and That's What Friends are For both brought back cherished memories. I will never forget this wonderful evening.

    Dionne Warwick

by Franz on 7/10/09The GRAMMY Museum - Los Angeles

If your expectation was for Dionne Warwick to sing majority of the time - you will be disappointed. She only sang 4 songs for the 1.5- 2 hour show! Grammy Museum should advertise as 'An Evening with Dionne Warwick - Interview by so and so - ' or something that this was an interview !

    Warwick Disappointment

by Celine on 7/9/09The GRAMMY Museum - Los Angeles

If someone forewarned me to expect an hour and fifteen minute interview and 20 minutes of singing (three songs), I still would have attended. But without the forewarning, I was very disappointed in the minimal "music" performance.

Dionne Warwick is beautiful inside and out

by Shamrock on 7/9/09The GRAMMY Museum - Los Angeles

This was a question & answer time followed by four songs. It quickly became evident that Ms. Warwick is a charming and wonderful person. Her voice is breathtaking.
