    Dinosaur train was terrible

by Jacobsgrandma1 on 3/4/14Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

I thought it was awful show The characters didn't have a costume that didn't have to be held up by a person behind them I was very disappointed

Show stunk - not worth the money

by Anitalanna on 3/4/14Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

I was very disappointed at the quality of this show put on by Henson Prod. The dinosaurs were all done by puppets and you could see the individuals who puppeted them. The storyline was almost directly from one of the TV episodes. There were way too many "paleontologists" who were used to basically elongate the show to a barely acceptable length. The kids did enjoy it, so I can't take that away from it, but had I known the quality of the show, I would not have spent $125 for 5 tickets to it.

Great for the kids...interesting for adults

by griffinowl on 3/3/14Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

I bought tickets in the "pit" not realizing we were sitting almost on the stage...won't make that mistake again and on top of that the "pit" tickets were quite a bit more expensive than other seats I had looked at. Also, the show itself was highly enjoyed by my 3 year old, but parents need to take a book or just enjoy watching their child which is what I did. I loved her reactions to the dinosaurs especially "King" because he was HUGE! Maybe due to the fact that we were sitting right under the puppeteers caused my distractions because I found myself watching the puppeteers more than the puppets. My hubby and I were thankful Duke Energy Center offered adult beverages! ;)

    Dinosaur Train Live was fun

by PhillyLorna on 2/28/14Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

I took my 5 year old granddaughter to see this show and she loved it! We didn't find the puppeteers to be very distracting even though they are visible behind the puppets. In fact I enjoyed watching how they maneuvered the puppets. Because the puppets are large, it was easy to see them even from a back row. We recommend this show!

    Good, but some glitches

by PreschoolMama on 2/28/14Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

The show was pretty much what I expected. Loved the educational aspect. Unfortunately "The King" broke shortly after intermission and we had to wait quite a while for the show to resume. Not ideal for little kids that have already had a break...

We were surprised to see the puppeteers, rather than costumes being worn as in Sesame Street productions. But the children didn't seem to mind it at all. Keep in mind the general age of your audience and shorten the long discussions and explanations; and if a technical difficulty is experienced, have a back-up plan - or at least have one of the dinosaurs come on stage with music, etc., to keep kids interested. A lot of people left during this time.

Dinosaur Train was Off the Rails

by Anonymous on 2/26/14Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

We took our 16 month old granddaughter to see Dinosaur Train Live and it was completely forgettable and disappointing. We were expecting live-action actors in full costumes of the Dinosaur Train characters and instead got puppets of the characters operated by people who were completely visible. They didn't even bother to have blacked-out facial coverings giving an entirely unrealistic performance. One of the characters had technical difficulty and the operator jumped out of the mechanism in full view of the audience. They didn't even bother to close the curtains while moving the character off stage.

    Forgettable and regretful

by LovellaZ on 2/25/14Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

I would not recommend this to anyone. I brought my four year old. I think it is too much for a two or three year old to sit through, but too low rent for a four year old. So..who was the target audience exactly?? There was barely a performance. The show (music and voices) was all pre-recorded (outside of the first intro song) and there was very little investment in stage props. The script was awful..it was a patched together previously aired TV episode...we knew exactly what was going to happen. I expected much much more. I am such an optimistic person...I stop to smell the roses...but honestly this was a waste of time and money.

    Dinosaur Lame

by DinoStar2k on 2/25/14Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

The actors in speaking roles were great, but they only appear for the intro. Most of the show is pre-recorded. The puppetry was done well, but don't sit too close or the mechanics can be distracting.

If your child is between the ages of 3 to 6, I think this would be a good show. When we bought the tickets for my 3 year old, I envisioned full size characters with people in them. I realized once the show started, that wasn't feasible. There were puppeteers with puppets attached to them. I was disappointed that not all the main characters weren't part of the show (the dad and Shiny wasn't part of the show), and that the story line was a previously televised episode. The screen in the back was too small. However, the voice over and the dancing was very cute. The intro would have been better if it were done in character instead of the fake paleontologists. Overall, my son enjoyed it but not sure if were worth the cost. Oh, it would also have been better if the characters came out after the show for a photo shoot.

    shabby for the money

by Lekesh on 2/25/14Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

Let me start by saying my two yr old was entertained. For the money I paid we had great seats but the show was shabby. The people walked around with the characters attached to them and could clearly be seen thus, cheating the viewers on the experience. It would be helpful if they wore black masks to cover their face and neck. I liked singing the song with my little girl. We loved seeing "King" but he malfunctioned and broke in the middle of the show. Bottom line, the quality of the show was not equivalent to the ticket prices. I expected a better show for the cost. My two year old had a great time though.

The show was over all entertaining, however there was a malfunction during the performance with one of the characters KING. The children began to get a little restless they should have had some sort of entertainment to keep the children occupied. The food was also over priced for a kid show. Chips were 3.50.

Dinosaur Train was very a disappointment

by Karenandkasen on 2/25/14Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

I was looking forward to a grand experience for two months with the Dinosaur Train and was so disappointed by the presentation. The characters were big puppets, really Jim Hensen? The puppeteers were so obvious. Of course, the malfuction of "King" couldn't be help, but entertainment should of been a back up plan. Lastly, the content of the show was an exact repeat of a story line in season 2...It could of been new and adventurous.

    Grandsons Had FUN!

by lilyga on 2/25/14Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

Took by 3 grandsons and their Moms/Dads as a family treat to celebrate one grandson's birthday. They had a great time! The puppet concept was very unique - my 5 yr-old grandson was intrigued. Timing was just right. I do want to mention that there were some very small children there - not even 2 yrs-old. While they may be captured by the cartoon on TV, there was a lot of crying and parents having to get up and take their children out of the theater.

    Average Show

by DinoTrain on 2/25/14Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

The show was just OK. The dinosaurs were large marionette puppets with the puppeteers behind them dressed in black. The show was billed as a stage performance with a video backdrop. The backdrop was tiny and provided minimal enhancement. The puppeteers were fine, all the speaking and singing was pre-recorded so the puppeteers were simply providing movement. At one point the large dinosaur (King) that had electrical assistance (because it was so large) malfunctioned and the show had to be stopped for about 15 minutes. Clearly a fluke, but it was a bit of an unwelcome surprise. I would not go to this show again if I had the chance and would instead spend money on the circus or perhaps a larger production kind of show.

Too short and not enough new content. Despite the performance problems, the show was light on entertainment and education.
