Melbourne International Jazz Festival presents

Dianne Reeves

Hailed as jazz’s greatest living vocalist, the incomparable Dianne Reeves will bring the 2017 Melbourne International Jazz Festival to an unforgettable close with an evening of sophisticated and deeply soulful song. The most awarded female jazz vocalist of all time, among her accolades are a string of Grammy Awards, including an unprecedented three consecutive awards for Best Jazz Vocal Performance.

A musician with a gift for imbuing any performance space with the intimacy of a living room, Reeves was born into a musical family (George Duke was her cousin and frequent longtime collaborator). She toured with Sergio Mendes and Harry Belafonte in the 80s before launching her own stellar solo career by using jazz as a ‘passport’ to other styles, including latin, African, reggae, r&b, blues, and pop classics.

With her intoxicating stage presence, captivating voice and improvisational virtuosity, Dianne Reeves is a natural wonder not to be missed. Her highly anticipated return to Melbourne promises to be nothing short of legendary.

  • Dianne Reeves

I felt deceived about the performance. The headliner was really “Somi!” Dianne Reeves was a guest artist. Although the performance was good. I really expected to see and paid for Dianne Reeves as the headliner. I didn’t think I was going to see Dianne Reeves sing only 1 duet and a collaborative piece.

  • PHENOMENAL

The show was excellent. I had the opportunity to see the play beforehand and have seen Dianne Reeves in concert previously. She and the other artists were excellent. She never fails.

  • Artemus / Dianne Reeves

by Christi on 11/16/21New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

Both Artemus and Dianne Reeves were amazing and thoroughly enjoyed the concert. I was a little disappointed that Dianne Reeves didn't sing at least 1 song w/Artemus. Also, I had difficulty with the tickets I purchased from Ticket Master and ended up buying 2 extra tickets, which NJPAC wouldn't refund. They did upgrade our seats which I was thankful for.

This event was amazing the opening group Artemis was awesome my first time seeing them and I have now become a fan and can't wait to see them again. There are no words that I can express for the Velvet Voice of Ms. Diane Reeves except THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Her performance was breath taking. I can't wait to see her again.

  • Superb

by Ro Ro on 11/16/21New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

Dianne Reeves always exceeds expectations. She knows how to keep an audience on the edge of their seats. Artemis was an unexpected and very wonderful surprise. I am familiar with Renee Rosnes and Anat Cohen from the jazz cruise. The sax player, the bassist and the drummer rounded out the excellent quintet. What a show.

My heart soared from the moment the music started then peaked when Diane opened her mouth. What a voice, what presence!

  • Magical evening with Dianne and Artemis

by Vince on 11/16/21New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

I love the NJPAC venue. The grand tier box seats we had will be my firat choice for seat location for future visits. Staff was very pleasant and helpful; unusual these days. And we even felt pretty safe with touchless wntrance measures.

  • FINALLY!

by Mokhira on 11/16/21New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

Finally! Been trying to see her perform for 20yrs. we had front row seats, she walked on stage and did not disappoint, her voice is amazing! The duet with Romero was just beautiful. But the finale “BETTER DAYS”! My favorite song of hers. I was like a kid seeing Santa Clause for the first time. We had a great evening and looking forward to her new album.
