Just was a great concert. The band plays so fluid, they did not miss a beat. Husband and wife make a great team. You want to hear a good Blues band. Don't miss out on this band. This is our 2nd concert and everytime we go it gets better and better.
It was a night of well chosen material performed by a very tight ensemble. One part Memphis R&B, one part Rock, one part Gospel, and one par unbridled joy, from a very well rehersed band at the top of their game. Strong lead and backing vocals belted out with true heart on sleeve emotion lifted the audience out of their seats and then to a frenzy when Derek went into his tasteful slide solos. The notes seemed to float out of his famous Gibson SG and into the Florida Theater, raining down on the wildly exuberant crowd. Susan absolutely sang her heart out and also performed some excellent guitar work of her own. I can't think of a better way to ring in the new year!
Wow ! ! ! What a great show. Gospel - Rythym & Blues - Fusion whatever they want to call it, they could have the #1 show on the planet. What an amazing band with truly great guitars, vocals, keyboards & flute. That fabulous bass and the horn section - truly awesome.
Excellent show! Great way to bring in the New Year. As for the venue, they needed more bartenders! Come on...it's New Year's Eve!
awesome new band, susan tedeschi has a powerful beautiful voice plus mike mattison and two other back up singers, and a horn section, this band was really good. the burdbrige brothers on keys and bass are also great musicians, throw in two drummers and its a hell of an ensemble
The amount of talent on display that night is not humanly measurable. Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi were pure magic, as were the rest of Soul Stew Revival. From Blues jams to old gospel staples the band didnt miss a trick. The crowd was incredibly responsive and really enhanced the mood. EVERYONE should check these guys out if given the chance.
A New Years Eve surprise over the top performance ! Someone told me Trucks was real good. Wow what an understatement, Trucks is at the top. I have enjoyed his wife's local Fla.shows for years and went to this concert to listen to her & I did, her singing was great and I hope she still will do some local shows on her own.
The Florida Theater is a very attractive indoors venue. Derek Trucks and company were amazing and delivered exactly what I expected. Great night!
I went to see Derek Trucks with little idea of what Susan Tedeschi did beyond singing. What an incredible show! Susan is a phenomenal performer. They performed well beyond midnight with extraordinary energy! One wonders if Derek and Susan speak to each other at home using their guitars : ) The whole band was unforgettable, the trumpet player is a show in himself.
The music for the most part was pretty good.There were 2 sets that I had no ideas where they were going. Susan's voice was tremendous, and so was the backup singers. This was my first time to hear them and I liked the slower sets better where Susan's voice was smooth and sultry. The crowd ,however, was terrible..drunk and would not sit down for the entire concert. One young girl beside me fell asleep because she couldn't see.
