About

Death Cab for Cutie was formed in Bellingham, WA in 1997 and almost immediately entered the ranks of the era's definitive bands, fueled in large part by the remarkable power of co-founder, lead vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist Benjamin Gibbard's complex, often bittersweet songcraft. The band made their worldwide popular breakthrough with 2003's RIAA Platinum certified Transatlanticism, later named by NPR as one of "The Decade's 50 Most Important Recordings." Plans, their 2005 Atlantic Records debut, saw Death Cab for Cutie ascending to even greater heights, earning RIAA platinum certification and a GRAMMY® Award nomination for "Best Alternative Album" while spawning the chart-topping singles, "Soul Meets Body," "Crooked Teeth," and "I Will Follow You into the Dark," the latter of which was honored with a GRAMMY® nod for "Best Pop Performance By Duo Or Group With Vocals."

  • Absolutely Breathtaking.

From beginning to end this concert had amazing written all over it. Not only was the weather mood-perfect for every band but the overall tone was incredible. During Ra Ra Riot the weather was still bright, sunny and warm just like their music. For Andrew Bird there was an amazing sunset, along with a slight sprinkle and TWO rainbows. And of course there is absolutely no other way to listen to Death Cab than under the stars and the light of the moon. I don't think I could have asked for a better night.

  • Their sound was spot on!

Loved the WHOLE concert. Every song was done just like the recordings. The acoustics were great in the theater, and they sounded Fantastic! Great choice of songs also!

Death Cab for Cutie at the Greek Theatre was awesome! The venue was clean, the staff friendly and the band rocked-as usual. Outstanding evening overall!

We all expected that. But I really want to recommend their opening act, Ra Ra Riot. They were fantastic. They have a glorious sound--rich and beautiful. The cellist and the violinist bring something to the usual indie sound that is very special. If this tour comes to your town, definitely go! And if Ra Ra Riot is playing where you are, see them. They are wonderful.

  • Great Show... not enough Andrew Bird tho

    by Greenie on 7/12/09Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - BerkeleyRating: 4 out of 5

Death Cab was incredible, best of the 3 times i've seen them. Andrew Bird didn't get enough stage time.... and he only played 3 songs that weren't on his new CD

Death Cab was fantastic. Andrew Bird, not so much. Rah Rah Riot was great, especially the electric violin and bass.

First of all watching a show at The Greek is an experience on its own, but to see DCFC perform there was that much more amazing! Played all their classic hits and as per usual, sounded great live. If you're a fan, you HAVE to see them live.

  • Death Cab For Cutie at the Greek Theatre

    by BigC on 7/12/09Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - BerkeleyRating: 5 out of 5

The band was really great! Its a cool venue, the weather was mild (even though it rained surprisingly), and their sound was amazing. I will Possess Your Heart was an awesome jam and they saved Long Division for the encore. The band's ability to play the complicated timing of their songs makes them stand out amongst other bands. A+++!

  • Death Cab was AMAZING.

Death Cab was absolutely amazing. This was my first time seeing them and i would definitely recommend checking them out. I will buy tickets for every show they have around here. The Greek Theater was amazing as well. Every seat had an awesome view. This was by far one of the best concerts I have ever been to. :]

  • Death Cab ROCKED!

    by Damien on 7/12/09Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - BerkeleyRating: 4 out of 5

This was the first time I saw Death Cab in concert and I have to say I was a little worried before going. I had heard that his voice is not as good live and that it was somehow more breathy in person. However, they sounded AMAZING LIVE. Ben's voice was so full and the set from start to end was perfect. I've never danced as much as I did during "The Sound of Settling" and the powerful, intimate ending with "Transatlanticism" made the night. This only got four stars because they didn't play my favorite, "Title and Registration", but still and awesome show
