About

Death Cab for Cutie was formed in Bellingham, WA in 1997 and almost immediately entered the ranks of the era's definitive bands, fueled in large part by the remarkable power of co-founder, lead vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist Benjamin Gibbard's complex, often bittersweet songcraft. The band made their worldwide popular breakthrough with 2003's RIAA Platinum certified Transatlanticism, later named by NPR as one of "The Decade's 50 Most Important Recordings." Plans, their 2005 Atlantic Records debut, saw Death Cab for Cutie ascending to even greater heights, earning RIAA platinum certification and a GRAMMY® Award nomination for "Best Alternative Album" while spawning the chart-topping singles, "Soul Meets Body," "Crooked Teeth," and "I Will Follow You into the Dark," the latter of which was honored with a GRAMMY® nod for "Best Pop Performance By Duo Or Group With Vocals."

  • A Rocking Band

    by Mustang289 on 10/2/22The Met Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 4 out of 5

Death Cab really puts on a high energy show. Lots of powerful guitar work, and almost 2 hours in duration playing all the songs you want to hear and ones you’re glad they also played. Both times I’ve seen them, “I Will Possess Your Heart” is worth the price of admission. I kept my rating to 4 stars because the vocals of Ben Gibbard were not able to be heard well enough; bad mixing perhaps. I saw The Decemberists a month earlier in the same venue, the wonderful Met in Philadelphia and Colin’s vocals were clear. But Ben is in great shape and it showed in a memorable performance!

  • Amazing live experience

Great setlist, energy, and it's Death Cab so of course it's good.

DCFC always puts on an amazing show!! the Met Philly was a great venue for them. The Met staff was friendly and the preferred parking is 100% worth it. I will be back!

by Bud on 10/2/22The Met Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Show was fabulous. They played for two hours. Great Siund and Lighting. A great venue to watch a show. Took the Subway and Paoli local. No issues.

  • Smiles all around.....

    by JHG_RVA on 9/30/22The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

....they played an excellent set, spanning music from their early albums to playing almost the whole new album ASPHALT MEADOWS. Death Cab's music may have some real sad undertones but they really sound amazing live and always put on a great show. It's been many years since last seeing them.....so pleased I made it to this show at this amazing venue in DC! Been glowing a few days since the show.....till next visit, cheers!

  • Meh

    by V on 9/30/22The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

The lights were great. Bartenders good. The first band was pretty terrible and the set list for death cab was……disappointing. They played well and Ben is always fantastic, a great front man, but every time they played a song from either of the two newest albums Probably about a quarter of the floor crowd went to go get a drink or use the bathroom. And they were not wrong to do it.🤷🏻‍♀️ little bit of a bummer but what can ya do. Just missing that Chris Walla era Death Cab and that’s not fair I guess.

  • Great show

Loved it, will be seeing them again for sure the next time around. The Anthem is always a great place to see a show.

  • Great Show

Death Cab for Cutie put on a really great show. Lots of favorites, both new and old.

  • Amazing as Always

by Karim on 9/30/22The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

This band at this venue will absolutely go down as one of my favorite all time live show experiences. I got teary eyed being back at The Anthem for the first time since pandemic, and I can’t think of a better band to have been there for.

  • Great acts but sound felt muted

    by Fan1 on 9/30/22The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

I’ve seen a dozen shows at the Anthem and sound is always great but it sounded muted for Death Cab and the opening act. The mix didn’t seem right either with vocals buried.

  • Brings you back

    by Daisy82 on 9/30/22The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

If you’re a fan, don’t miss this tour. Worth it - they bring the energy. Love watching Ben run all over the stage.

  • I learned something about their music.

by dmise on 9/30/22The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

I definitely like some of the music they do. But overall, I did not enjoy their music. I did something I've never done before...I left before the concert was over. [and I've been to lots of concerts!]

  • DCfC was terrific - of course!

    by Dr_Know on 9/30/22The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

First, the two reasons I did not give this show five stars: (1) the venue is beautiful - albeit large - but getting to/from The Anthem by car was challenging and time consuming; and (2) the opening act was not my preference. The former - what can you do about it: it's D.C. - just plan ahead. The latter is just a personal preference. NOW, on to the positive stuff! Death Cab for Cutie put on another high energy show. Each of the five members showcased their talent and seemed to genuinely want to be there. The setlist heavily featured the recently released Asphalt Meadows songs, but there were still a number of classics including ... Here to Forever, I Will Follow You into the Dark (Ben Gibbard acoustic solo), The Ghosts of Beverley Drive, Soul Meets Body, etc. Twenty-three songs in total. Already looking forward to my next DCfC concert!

  • What an amazing time

    by Ricky B on 9/30/22The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

This is a band I regret not seeing sooner in life. The energy, the crowd interaction, and of course the music was all amazing. Highly recommend anyone even a little bit interested in seeing Death Cab check them out as soon as they can.

  • Incredible

by Phil on 9/26/22The Sylvee - MadisonRating: 5 out of 5

Good show end to end. I really liked the moment where the crowd all sang I Will Follow You Into the Dark. They kinda went for a weird, "I wanna blind you" ending with bright flashing white lights, but the rest was really cool.

  • Fantastic show

by JMW on 9/25/22The Sylvee - MadisonRating: 5 out of 5

I loved everything about this concert. The lighting was fantastic and the and was phenomenal!

  • Death Cab is so good live!

by Dawn on 9/25/22The Sylvee - MadisonRating: 4 out of 5

They were amazing. The only reason i didn't give 5 stars is I paid a lot of $ to sit in reserved seating...but the Sylvie allows people who paid general admission to stand in the aisle next to you. Spilling drinks and being obnoxious etc.
