About

Death Cab for Cutie was formed in Bellingham, WA in 1997 and almost immediately entered the ranks of the era's definitive bands, fueled in large part by the remarkable power of co-founder, lead vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist Benjamin Gibbard's complex, often bittersweet songcraft. The band made their worldwide popular breakthrough with 2003's RIAA Platinum certified Transatlanticism, later named by NPR as one of "The Decade's 50 Most Important Recordings." Plans, their 2005 Atlantic Records debut, saw Death Cab for Cutie ascending to even greater heights, earning RIAA platinum certification and a GRAMMY® Award nomination for "Best Alternative Album" while spawning the chart-topping singles, "Soul Meets Body," "Crooked Teeth," and "I Will Follow You into the Dark," the latter of which was honored with a GRAMMY® nod for "Best Pop Performance By Duo Or Group With Vocals."

  • Amazing experience

by Angela Jones on 10/12/22Firefly Distillery - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

Death Cab for Cutie put on an amazing show. They were so energetic and engaging. Probably one of the best bands I’ve ever seen live. It was an experience I’ve been waiting almost 20 years for.

  • A Great Night with A Great Band!

by MindyS on 10/12/22Firefly Distillery - North CharlestonRating: 4 out of 5

Overall, a fantastic experience. The band sounded great, the setting was perfect in a large field under a full moon, and the crowd was enthusiastic and welcoming. It was fun seeing the age ranges of fans from teens to seniors and everything in between. Death Cab kept the show moving with a nice mixture of new and iconic songs and encouraged the crowd to sing along. The only downside wasn't the band themselves, but the venue, which didn't bring in nearly enough food trucks for the number of attendees. Thank goodness we ate before we got there because the lines were incredibly long. There was certainly the space for more trucks, so I'm not sure why they weren't there.

  • Like being in the studio!

by Live music lover on 10/11/22Firefly Distillery - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

Our 2nd time at Firefly Dispensary for live music. Love this venue. Very clean and the lawn is plush for chilling. Great food trucks and an assortment of drinks. Death Cab was amazing! Sounded absolutely perfect. Musicianship and vocals spot on and they played all the favorites mixed in with their brand new music. Great show!

  • I had a good time

    by b.a. on 10/11/22Firefly Distillery - North CharlestonRating: 4 out of 5

Too bad the Gibbard told us it wasn’t their best show! Thanks a lot, What’s wrong with us in Charleston that they didn’t give their best? Really like the firefly distillery venue with food trucks and open field, and everyone was chill and there for a nice evening of music outside. Opening act Thao and the Get Down Throw Down had positive energy.

  • Dont forget to take a cab

by Big Fan on 10/11/22Firefly Distillery - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

Death Cab for Cutie was fantastic, the venue was good. Parking TERRIBLE, they provide a shuttle to and from N Chas Coliseum, however there is about 1000 people leaving at the same time, they provide 1 bus that holds about 40 people, the bus trip is 15 minutes each way. Now lets do the math- 1 bus every 30 minutes, 1000 people. Never mind I don't have a calculator, and about as much patience as I did the night of the concert. Finally called that cab to get back to my car. Loved you Death Cab for Cutie- Great Concert- Loved you too Cab Driver. Thanks for saving us!

  • Just like the album

First of all, Firefly Distillery was a great venue for this show! And Death Cab didn't disappoint! They sounded just like the album live!!

When a great act meets a great venue, in front of a great audience, magic happens! Beautiful evening at the Firefly Distillery, where we were treated to a high energy show full of passion and powerful performances.

  • Death Cab at Firefly

by Kemper on 10/11/22Firefly Distillery - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

We moved from Seattle to Charleston and it was so nice to see a little bit of home. Death Cab put on an amazing concert. We all danced and sang the whole time. They played a nice, long encore. My favorite moment though was when Ben said "Thank you to whomever yelled out that the Seattle Mariners won. I was so stressed". We went nuts bc Seattle was down by 7 runs when the concert started. We just assumed they lost. What a great surprise!

  • One of the best concerts I’ve been to!

by Jshu on 10/8/22Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing them in person and I am already looking forward to doing it again! This concert was the most fun I’ve had at a concert in a long time. It wasn’t too loud and the light show was mesmerizing! Not to mention the instruments and vocals were crisp and clear. I’m already on the lookout for the next show near me!

  • Another Awsome Show

by sosweede on 10/7/22Coca-Cola Roxy - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Fourth time seeing Death Cab and as always, they did not disappoint! They played all of their best hits and threw in some lesser played stuff. The lead singer Ben Gibbard engaged the audience, the sound was great for a smaller indoor venue, and the light show didn't shine in the audience's eyes too much. Great show and I look forward to number five.

Loved it! Whoever was over lighting did a really good job with it.

  • Excellent band at a tired, old venue

by charlesml3 on 10/6/22Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek - RaleighRating: 3 out of 5

DCFC is always a good show. Seen them live several times and they are one of the most well-rehearsed bands I've ever seen. This show was no exception. They're a brilliant band to see live and they can most certainly "walk the walk." They sound as good live as they do on their recordings. The problem with this show was Walnut Creek Amphitheater. It's a sad, dated venue that was past it's prime 10 years ago. The band even commented that it felt like they were playing inside a missile silo. I understand the reason for the venue change. Ian came through and we had no idea how much it was going to rain that night so a change was prudent. It was just unfortunate. I'm giving DCFC 5 stars for making the best of it. Walnut Creek gets 1 star for being old and outdated.

... poor sound. Dont care for the new album either. But the sound quality really ruined it. Have seen them before so i know what im talking about.

  • First time seeing live

by Alison K on 10/4/22Leader Bank Pavilion - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve been a Death Cab for Cutie fan for a long time, but this was the first time seeing them live. Not only the band was great so was the venue was perfect too. Definitely going to see them next time they come to Boston or Providence!

  • The Best Experience

by Kai on 10/4/22Leader Bank Pavilion - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

The venue was really nice, and the entire crowd was having a super fun time. Ben engaged the audience super well and it was such a fun time overall. Probably one of the best experiences of my life, I’ll remember this for years to come.

  • Thank you, Death Cab! Met, I'm a little disappointed.

by JulieB on 10/3/22The Met Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 4 out of 5

So 5 stars for Death Cab! And for the sound system at The Met Philadelphia! I will see them every time they come to Philly, but at least now I know I will NOT choose Orchestra seating in the future if they come back to the Met. And the Met should seriously consider lowering their prices for this particular section, since there is no mention of the "obstructed view". The first 5-10 rows are USELESS because the floor does not ascend quickly enough as you move away from the stage, so you are sitting behind the Pit at the same level as people who are standing, not to mention the barrier they put up in between. There was no choice but stand. Somehow our row was QQ? Yet was the first row of seats? QQ did not alert me to it being a first row, not that I would have known about the floor level. Many of the concert goers by us were commiserating before the concert began about what they paid to get no view. If I was not a person who could stand for an entire concert, I'd be asking for my money back.

  • Great if you like standing

by Pattipoopidoo on 10/3/22The Met Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 2 out of 5

I paid $374 for 2 seats instead of $90 in general admission - because I didn’t want to stand for three hours. We - and everyone else on the entire floor level Sections 1 through 18- ended up standing the entire time, because the slope/grading of the seats sucked. When the first person stood for no reason - the entire orchestra section seating was forced to follow suit. Will not see a show here again. Death Cab sounded great, otherwise.

  • Loved the show, great venue, super helpful & friendly staff

Loved the show, great venue, super helpful & friendly staff. Food and Drink crazy expensive though. Just crazy.
