Death Cab for Cutie was formed in Bellingham, WA in 1997 and almost immediately entered the ranks of the era's definitive bands, fueled in large part by the remarkable power of co-founder, lead vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist Benjamin Gibbard's complex, often bittersweet songcraft. The band made their worldwide popular breakthrough with 2003's RIAA Platinum certified Transatlanticism, later named by NPR as one of "The Decade's 50 Most Important Recordings." Plans, their 2005 Atlantic Records debut, saw Death Cab for Cutie ascending to even greater heights, earning RIAA platinum certification and a GRAMMY® Award nomination for "Best Alternative Album" while spawning the chart-topping singles, "Soul Meets Body," "Crooked Teeth," and "I Will Follow You into the Dark," the latter of which was honored with a GRAMMY® nod for "Best Pop Performance By Duo Or Group With Vocals."

they sound even better than they do recorded! The expo center was a great venue.
Myself, my fiancé, and my sister attended the Deathcab for Cutie show. The sound quality exceeded my expectations. The visual display was spectacular. Ushers assisted us to our seat; food/beverage service staff were friendly and efficient. The restrooms are always clean at this venue. Excellent night; great quality for the ticket prices. We sat in the left orchestra section. Great view of the band!
Simply amazing! My husband and I had the best time!
Music was great. Ben Hubbard was fantastic! He has so much energy. He is the poet of our age! I wish everyone would have sat down! I couldn't see through all the tall people in front of me!
First of all, these guys can do no wrong. They are professionals. Sound is always excellent and show always delivers. The venue (Stifel Theatre) is a GREAT venue to see your favorite band UP CLOSE. We were five rows from the stage and felt like we were up there with the band. If Death Cab for Cutie had the energy we're confident they could play St. Louis, Nashville, Louisville non-stop to packed audiences (we'd be there at every show...up front...no matter the cost). They're simply one of our favorite all time bands. Thanks for the memories!!!
Overall, the Death Cab for Cutie concert was a great experience. Lots of space to stand and watch the two great acts. Beer was impossible to get though as you first had to wait in line for a wrist band, then wait in line for a beer ticket, and then finally wait in line to get a beer. Beyond that, had a great time. Check out Bad Bad Hats. They make some great music
Way more rocking than recordings, sounded amazing.
Death Cab played a high energy show, and they had to because the opening act Bad Bad Hats almost showed them up. Harrisburg U. did a good job, the big thing is that they brought an act to Central PA that only Dickinson College had been able to bring in (I was at that show too). After the second song, they got the bass sound down While the beers were only $5 a glass, you had to by advance tickets for the beer and a $3 bottle of water. Was the Hilton controlling all of the beverages? Let the small vendors sell water so we don’t have to wait in line for it, TWICE! On a humid night. Harrisburg U. – how about working on bringing in Bon Iver?, Explosions in the Sky, and how about Sigur Rios? Yes, that would be sweet and you would have folks streaming in from out of town – bigtime to see those players!
It was an outdoor show and of COURSE it started pouring right before it was about to start. However the rain let up and the show was incredible. Bad Bad Hats opened, and they were great. This was my first time seeing Death Cab live and the band seemed like they were really enjoying themselves. When they left everybody was screaming for an encore, or as one guy near me put it, "2-5 more songs!" They came back out and played 3 more songs! Lol. It was incredible.
Absolutely wonderful night! Food and beer available. Death Cab played all of my favorite songs with magical choreographed light show ❤️❤️❤️
Great show by Death Cab. Venue was pretty good. No real line to get in, easy parking just a five minute walk away, Food options looked good, but those lines were too long between sets. Early start was appreciated. It was nice to watch a sunset while listening to music, even of some of the lighting effects were a little more subdued.. Band sounded great from where I stood (near the sound board). And with the early start, the show was over fairly early, making for an easier drive back home (about 1.5 hours away)-not sure I would have made the drive for a later show.
I had such a great time at the concert! The parking was a little pricey at 20$ but it was nice to have a guaranteed spot when I wasn’t familiar with the venue. If you get to Thompson’s point early, there is 15$ parking a .5 mile walk away from the venue. I loved the actual concert, the food trucks were all pretty cool too. I didn’t like the opening artist very much but Death Cab sounded just as amazing in person as they do on their iTunes released songs. Had a great time (lost my voice) and will definitely go to more concerts in the future.
truly the best night of my life. to see them live was a dream come true and the set list was great. can’t wait to see them again someday ❤️
Go See it. You will not be disappointed at all. It is worth every penny.
Even for a mellow band, the show was a total snore. Even concert-goers in the pit acted like they were half asleep. Zzzzzzzz
So very glad I got to see Death Cab for Cutie. It was even better than expected, and I had high hopes. The vocals were the best I've heard live in a concert.
While I had certainly heard Death Cab for Cutie on the radio (and loved them) -- I must admit that I did not really know much about them and had not ever seen them in concert -- well, it was worth the wait as they were simply amazing. Ben Gibbard has such a soothing voice -- I could have listened to him sing for 23 hours straight! The lyrics of the songs are also quite beautiful. The music is very complex in nature with many layers -- and great playing by all members of the band -- it might have been nice to introduce the band members but I guess what the Internet is for :)
First time seeing Death Can for Cutie. Red Hat is a sweet intimate little venue in downtown Raleigh. The streets were patrolled during and after the event and I felt safe and had a really great time. The band did not disappoint. The acoustics were spot on and my seat was stage left so I had a pretty good view. Love this band and this venue.
My first time seeing them. They were incredible! The sound at the Ryan was perfect for their music. It was exquisite. They must've played 40 songs and did an encore. LOVE LOVE LOVE
Death Cab was amazing as per usual! They have a great presence onstage! The Ryman was wonderful but next time I'll sit in the balcony or closer to the stage on the floor. Being on the floor in the back was an obstructed view because the balcony dips and blocks the stage. I wasn't super pleased about the audience shouting things at the band, being loud during solos and trying to force them to deviate from their set list, but the band did a good job of calling it out in a nice, respectful way that didn't ruin the performance. I love Death Cab and I'm so glad I got to see them at the Mother Church!! Woohoo you'll always be my favorite band!
