Another great Davis Cup Tie hosted by USTA. This was my second Davis Cup Tie, both have been a blast to attend.
I am an avid fan of tennis and enjoy watching players from around the world. The venue was great - nothing like it elsewhere. I wish team USA had played better but I can't be sad how well Team GB did. I am half-British and half-American. So glad to have tickets for all three days.
The venue was truly inspiring. Petco Park was an excellent place to create a tennis court and the 8,000 seats were close to the action. My wife and I attended all 3 days of the tie and the cloudless blue sky on Saturday, I think, helped the Bryan brothers to their doubles triumph. My only disappointment was the Brits won 3-1!
I was a good activity, however the cancelling of the afternoon match was a let down.
The event seemed well organized. The seating for Sections 7 & 8 could have had easier access.
It was fabulous from a viewer's standpoint. San Diego and PETCO Park did an amazing job with the stadium court, the viewing areas, the merchandise venue - although an area selling just programs would have been helpful - and other facilities. Tennis was great, although TEAM USA took a hit. The Brits played tough and won. The ball boys and girls worked very hard and did a superb job. It was a wonderful experience and so glad San Diego had a round of the Davis Cup. Let's do it again!!!
Great setting. I would hope events like this would be scheduled at Petco Park i the future.
Liked the ambience. Seating was good. Food and beverage were convenient, if a little high price. Liked the idea that it was on the West Coast, easy to attend. The matches were very entertaining, however Sam could not finish off James Ward. He had a 4-2 lead in the fourth set. Then lost four games in a row to lose the set and lost six of next seven to lose the fifth set. If he had won, then the fifth match on Sunday between D. Young and J. Ward would have been critical. Maybe, Sam needs work on his conditioning so as not to get tired late. It was fun to see Rod Laver in the stands, also.
Although the US did not win, we witnessed some awesome, world-class tennis action. The stadium is beautiful, the court was awesome - red clay tennis court in left field?? Wow! Not a bad seat in the house.
The ushers were great. The location (petco) was great. I was able to sit near my friends who were disabled even though my ticket was elsewhere. However because the USA was the home team, hard courts -- not clay -- should have been selected. Sam Querry had difficulty on the clay. Regarding food: The only healthy food vendor had a very long line that had about 50 people waiting to purchase lunch, while the other food vendors had very short lines. For tennis events, please have more healthy food vendors.
Great venue, had a great time. Too bad the USA team lost, but next time!
This was an excellent opportunity for tennis fans in San Diego to see live Davis Cup action in their own backyard at Petco Park, to witness the team tennis format, and to see clay court tennis. For those who've attended Petco for baseball it was neat to see a tennis stadium configured into the outfield area. It was also lot of fun to see the USA fans and Great Britain fans cheering for their home nations, waving their flags and wearing their colors (of course both countries have the same colors so...) Only disappointments were 1) for USA fans, we lost to Britain although Britain was the favorite overall with Murray playing twice; and 2) because Britain won the first match, thus gaining an insurmountable 3-1 lead in the round, as previously decided by the team captains the second match of the day was canceled. Given the somewhat steep ticket prices, it would've been nice to see more tennis. But I kind of thought this might happen going in so it was not a huge shock. Still, overall, a great experience to watch top-level tennis in a unique venue.
I had the plaesure of watching our American hopefuls give it their all. The venue was great as was the weather in San Diego, Unforgettable
Excellent venue set up. Great event, well organised. Seats were good although not being able to choose your own at this price bracket was poor. Would definitely attend again.
I love this event, we had great matches, it was nice to have a player like Andy Murray. The organization was excellent.
Tennis is my favorite sport, so I knew I'd want to catch some of the Davis Cup when it came to San Diego. It was a chance to see the great Andy Murray in action. The "stadium within a stadium" concept, putting a tennis court inside Petco Park, was a great success and I hope to see more tennis there.
Even though the US lost to Great Britain, the venue was terrific, the fans loud and enthusiastic, and the tennis was superb!
Great event!!! Too bad the US lost ;( I would have liked for the event to allow re-entry into the venue
weather of course was perfect. Normal for San Diego I couldn't imagine how they were going to create a tennis court at Petco Park. But they did a magnificent job. Great seats everywhere, although a lot of the temp seating is not comfortable sitting for 7 hours of tennis. Seats built for a 5-year old. All in all, this was a surprising wonderful event that i hope sets the stage for more of them. thanks to all who made it happen
