USA lost, but it was a great event! THe Murray/Querrey match was awesome! Go USA!!
Every tennis fan should see a Davis Cup once in a lifetime. The 2014 DC in San Diego was great fun. The seats had a great view and we felt we were in the action. They were pricey and I feel that was the reason for quite a few empties. But we were happy to see the doubles match.
Definitely fun to see the Bryan Brothers play in person, and to see Andy Murray on the sidelines. Turns out PetCo Park is a perfect place for tennis.
I thought having the Davis Cup at Petco Park really was unique and showcased San Diego. Although I sat at top of a section, I still felt I had good seats and was close to the match. I loved the energy the Davis Cup brings and was a great way to spend a couple hours. Really fun!
The venue was great - all seats good to watch the action! Awesome team vibe - so much fun to be there and cheer on our boys!!
Never have been to a pro tennis tournament and found it to be much more exciting and fun to watch than imangined. Petco venue offered a very intimate site bringing you very near the action
Not a bad seat in the house! It was so much fun rooting for the USA team! Will definitely go again.
Really enjoyed watching the tennis. I am a Brit so was pleased Great Britain won. We were amongst mostly Americans so felt a bit lonely being the only ones to cheer on the GB team. On Saturday we were sitting next to a person who sometimes shouted offensive remarks at the Brits which we hadn't encountered on Friday. We were surprised by the lack of people telling you where to find your seat until you got into the stadium, then found you should be over the other side! Also to purchase commemorative merchandise there was only one stand that we could find, with a very long queue, could have done with more.
Fantastic venue, amazing tennis, weather stupendous. Davis Cup atmosphere was so pleasurable. If you get the chance to attend a match, sorry rubber, you should definately take it.
Watching the first day of the Davis Cup turned out to be disappointing as far as the actual performance by the Americans, as everyone thought Sam Q. should win his first match. That is not Ticketmaster's fault. The seats were good. For $115, I might have expected just a touch better. Also, all vendors were very pricey - food, beverages and merchandise. I guess this is just what one expects when going to a "world event", so to speak. Since I would say at least 25% of the seats were empty, a more reasonable pricing structure may have filled up some of those empty seats.
I enjoyed the event a lot! Davis Cup in San Diego was exciting! However, many downsides to the event. First off, the food staff was not aware that there would be a rush for food following the end of the match. There were huge lines and lots of delays. We missed the first set of the second match!! Also, I don't think people know tennis etiquette because there were people talking on their phones and walking around the stands during points. I know that there is a different set of "rules" for etiquette for these Davis cup matches, but the personnel could have done a better job regulating this. Lastly and most importantly, we bought our tickets off of ticketmaster - but when we got there, 2/4 seats were already taken. We checked their tickets and they were solid duplicates! We saw this happen to a lot of other patrons also. Thankfully, a lot of seats were open, so we just sat somewhere else, but sometime later, the rightful owners came looking for their seats. Unprofessional, and who knows what happened.
What a let-down! The facilities seemed to have been about 30-40% full. I was frustrated that I had to buy tickets for all 3 days. I would have gladly spent significantly more for better seats during 2 of the days as opposed to being locked in for 3 days. Communication was poor too. The tickets and website said that the matches started at one time, but in reality the matches started 30 minutes later.
The Davis Cup Tennis Event in Jacksonville was great! To see the Bryan Brothers, John Isner, Sam Querry all play was very exciting. Davis Cup Tennis is the most exciting tennis event as they are all playing for their country. I had a great time!
Davis Cup Tennis USA v Brazil was an exciting fun filled weekend event. Every one handling the event at Jacksonville's Veterans Memorial Arena was super nice and accommodating. Everything was first class and safe. We had great seats and enjoyed every moment.
The lack of crowd was terribly disappointing. I've been to many Davis Cup events, including the one in 2007 where we won the world title, and this is the first one that wasn't sold out. What happened? The tie itself was the only one that I have been to where the fifth match mattered; so, it was perhaps the most exciting one yet. We will probably go to the next tie when we play Serbia.
I would recommend to anyone to go and watch the Davis Cup at least once in their life time.
So much fun...the Brazilian fans throw out all the rules for tennis etiquette!
The venue was excellent. The atmosphere incredible inside & outside the stadium.
We really enjoyed the tennis, but felt like it would have been better if more people were there to support our Davis Cup team.
We need to support Team USA. Surprised that they held the event in Jacksonville and wish it were outdoors, but it was definitely worthwhile.
