About

DAVE KOZ IN CONCERT:

When Dave Koz takes the stage, all is quiet as the audience intently listens to every pure note from the seasoned saxophonist. Playing both tenor and alto sax, his fingers glide across the instrument with an ease that can't be matched. Whether he's performing chart-topping hits like "Life In the Fast Lane" and "Put the Top Down" or launching into an epic solo, Koz's grace on the woodwind instrument is exceptional, full of trills, thrills, and spontaneity during his hit-filled set lists. Dave Koz returns to the stage in 2014 for his upcoming Summer Horns tour as well as a string of highly anticipated shows with Barry Manilow.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Starting out in his high school's jazz band, Dave Koz fell in love with the saxophone early on, deciding to pursue music full time after graduating from college. He landed on tour with Bobby Caldwell not long after and served as a studio musician in the '80s before launching his breakout solo career. Since then, Koz has released 15 studio albums — eight of which have reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Jazz chart — and four No. 1 jazz singles. Not only is the nine-time Grammy nominee a sensational saxophonist, but he's also a radio personality, television host, and philanthropist, serving as a Global Ambassador for the Starlight Children's Foundation. Koz will delight fans with his smooth jazz sounds on his upcoming tour dates.

  • Summer Horns II was spectacular!

by JHejza on 8/29/18Kodak Center - RochesterRating: 5 out of 5

One of the best concerts we’ve attended! Dave and friends, our favorite performers put on an incredible show with such wonderful sounds, harmony and energy! I pray they will make another Summer Horns and sooner than five years. Fantastic!

  • Smooth Jazz All Stars Rock The House But Soundman?

by DJSOLIDGOLD on 8/28/18Kodak Center - RochesterRating: 5 out of 5

Smooth Jazz All Stars Rock The House, But Soundman fails to balance bassdrum, synth bass and individual solos! Any One of the Five "Horns Of Summer" Is a standalone Smooth Jazz STAR! Here we got five, with some great arrangements and solos! Very Entertaining! Koz puts it together again after last year's tour with Larry Graham!

  • Outstanding musicians, diminished by poor sound.

by CaptainMJM on 8/27/18Kodak Center - RochesterRating: 4 out of 5

Amazingly talented musicians, high energy performances, but uneven sound mixing spoiled some of the solo moments. Richard Elliott's sax was frequently hard to hear. His showcase song was beautiful, but lacked the audio "ooomph" that would have been made it mind blowing. The band's guitarist was very talented, but even his solo riffs were a bit faint. Still, loved the show and highly recommend to anyone who is a fan of Koz, Albright, Elliott or Braun.

  • Aubrey Logan, Dave Koz, and friends were amazing

by WilburRjr on 8/27/18Kodak Center - RochesterRating: 5 out of 5

I decided to get tickets to the show once I saw Aubrey Logan was joining Dave on stage. Extremely good decision. The show was amazing. All performers were incredible. Everyone in attendance was way into the music. I almost had as much watching the audience as listening to the band ...

  • Great Show

by Worfswife on 8/27/18The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National HarborRating: 4 out of 5

If the Summer Horns is in your city, please go. It is the best show of the summer for jazz lovers. Gerald Albright, Rick Braun, Dave Koz, kept you entertained all night with their favorite songs and new arrangements for horns by EWF, Maze, Stevie wonder, and more. All seats in the MGM theatre are great. There was a short problem with the sound system, but the MGM recovered quickly.

Excellent show!!! Koz, Sanborn, Albright and friends - what amazing talent. They made the evening a personable affair - engaging the audience in their music. They need to make this an annual event at MGM National Harbor!!!

Great amazing performances! I would recommend!!!!!

  • Dave Koz and the Summer Horns was fantastic

by Hotstyx on 8/26/18The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National HarborRating: 3 out of 5

Even though the sound went out twice during Richard Elliott's featured song the concert was great. My wife, who is not a big smooth jazz fan had a wonderful time and really liked the show. MGM at National Harbor is not the best place to see a show. Long wait to get in just before the show and like I said, the sound system was not up to the task that night.

  • Summer Horns Tour

by DCMDDon on 8/26/18The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National HarborRating: 5 out of 5

This was one of the best concerts of the summer. I was pleasantly surprised by the energy and talent displayed on that stage. The Theater at MGM National Harbor is an exceptional venue for events in the DC area. It';s not too bib like the arena and stadiums in the area. But also not too small like the local jazz clubs. I would definitely reccommend attending any show at this venue.

  • Simply Awesome

    by Simba77 on 8/26/18Kodak Center - RochesterRating: 4 out of 5

Awesome group of musicians. Music was great and wowed us the whole time. Just wish we could have stood up and danced around a bit for some of the songs. Tough to listen to these guys and have to stay in my seat. Acoustics were fantastic - loved being able to hear the stories they had to tell. Hope they come again!
