About

DAVE KOZ IN CONCERT:

When Dave Koz takes the stage, all is quiet as the audience intently listens to every pure note from the seasoned saxophonist. Playing both tenor and alto sax, his fingers glide across the instrument with an ease that can't be matched. Whether he's performing chart-topping hits like "Life In the Fast Lane" and "Put the Top Down" or launching into an epic solo, Koz's grace on the woodwind instrument is exceptional, full of trills, thrills, and spontaneity during his hit-filled set lists. Dave Koz returns to the stage in 2014 for his upcoming Summer Horns tour as well as a string of highly anticipated shows with Barry Manilow.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Starting out in his high school's jazz band, Dave Koz fell in love with the saxophone early on, deciding to pursue music full time after graduating from college. He landed on tour with Bobby Caldwell not long after and served as a studio musician in the '80s before launching his breakout solo career. Since then, Koz has released 15 studio albums — eight of which have reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Jazz chart — and four No. 1 jazz singles. Not only is the nine-time Grammy nominee a sensational saxophonist, but he's also a radio personality, television host, and philanthropist, serving as a Global Ambassador for the Starlight Children's Foundation. Koz will delight fans with his smooth jazz sounds on his upcoming tour dates.

The concert was great until one of the amplifiers died. Then all the speakers were cranked up to rebalance the sound—and it all became too loud.

  • The Koz Still Got It!

by LenGiby01 on 8/26/18The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National HarborRating: 5 out of 5

The show @ MGM Natl Harbor was outstanding w/his friends. Seating anywhere in there is great, u felt like it was an intimate place, love the venue and seating was comfy. Audio & video quality was fantastic. Altho, sound went out couple times during a featured solo for R. Elliott, it got rendered fast. G. Albright killed it, with Frankie Beverly song, as did Dave with my feature song he soloed, brought tears of joy to my eyes--they each did a separate solo Go Audrey Logan--she can handle that Trombone!, Rick Braun is always classy\fun, & we got to hear new music & artist Adam Hawley-his cd is nice. Overall Dave Koz is still classy, fun and most of all super sexy esp with the grey. Loved him from day 1 from ATL Jazzfest '96. Go Dave&Friends, See ya on the cruise!

I have been wanting to see Dave Koz and when I heard he was coming with 4 other horn players it made it that much better. The show was great. Dave Koz is a great showman and musician. Richard Elliott, Rick Braun, Gerald Albright, and Aubrey Logan were top notch. Makes me want to go on the Dave Koz cruise.

Summer Horns was a great experience! Hadn't seen Dave Koz in many years and had never gotten to see Rick Braun, Richard Elliot or Gerald Albright even though I've loved their music for a long time. Aubrey Logan was a terrific addition to the group also, very good voice and showmanship with her trombone. I'd love to see them all again if there's another version of this show in the future.

    by Darlenec66 on 8/25/18Kodak Center - RochesterRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was outstanding, I was on the edge of my seat ready to jump up and dance the whole time. Everyone on stage was so upbeat and energetic. You could tell they love what they do and that’s what makes them so awesome. And the crowd was fun as well. I don’t typically listen to this kind of music, I bought the tickets for my Boyfriend but I think I enjoyed it more than he did!!!! Thanks so much for a Great experience.

  • Dave Koz and Friends Summer Horns-AWESOME

by BigJazzFan on 8/25/18Kodak Center - RochesterRating: 5 out of 5

I'm so glad that Dave Koz and Friends' Summer Horns tour stopped in Rochester, NY, and that my wife and I got to attend. What a show!!! Upbeat! Energetic! Enthusiastic! Awesome music from some of the world's most talented musicians. I knew the show had to be great, heck with the likes of Gerald Albright, Richard Elliott, Aubrey Logan, Rick Braun, Adam Hawley, Ron Reinhardt, the awesome, smiling Big Dude drummer and spectacular bassist, and of course, Dave Koz --- it was AWESOME. My wife isn't a big smooth jazz fan, but she stated "I loved every song!". Don't miss this one folks .... it's a treat to see these spectacular musicians all on the same stage. You will NOT be disappointed. The Rochester, NY, audience benefited from the tour's two week break, because the energy level was off the charts! Great show. Thank you all so much!!!
