About

DAVE KOZ IN CONCERT:

When Dave Koz takes the stage, all is quiet as the audience intently listens to every pure note from the seasoned saxophonist. Playing both tenor and alto sax, his fingers glide across the instrument with an ease that can't be matched. Whether he's performing chart-topping hits like "Life In the Fast Lane" and "Put the Top Down" or launching into an epic solo, Koz's grace on the woodwind instrument is exceptional, full of trills, thrills, and spontaneity during his hit-filled set lists. Dave Koz returns to the stage in 2014 for his upcoming Summer Horns tour as well as a string of highly anticipated shows with Barry Manilow.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Starting out in his high school's jazz band, Dave Koz fell in love with the saxophone early on, deciding to pursue music full time after graduating from college. He landed on tour with Bobby Caldwell not long after and served as a studio musician in the '80s before launching his breakout solo career. Since then, Koz has released 15 studio albums — eight of which have reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Jazz chart — and four No. 1 jazz singles. Not only is the nine-time Grammy nominee a sensational saxophonist, but he's also a radio personality, television host, and philanthropist, serving as a Global Ambassador for the Starlight Children's Foundation. Koz will delight fans with his smooth jazz sounds on his upcoming tour dates.

  • Dave Koz was no less than outstanding

by BigNavy on 7/11/09Sandia Casino Amphitheater - AlbuquerqueRating: 5 out of 5

This is the second time I've seen Dave Koz. This concert was on the same day that the beloved Wayman Tisdale passed away. Dave and band carried out a great show non the less and I highly recommend you see him and band.

  • Amazing Evening

by JimE on 7/11/09Montalvo - SaratogaRating: 5 out of 5

Villa Montalvo was a remarkable venue for a remarkable event....Dave Koz and Brian Culbertson complement each other's music so wonderfully. They have fun and the audience feels it from beginning to end. It was truly "a do not miss" event. Their backup musicians are terrific in their own rights....and clearly they enjoy their vocation as much as Dave and Brian.........can't wait for their next performance. Dave Koz's Christmas Show, I hope makes it to the Bay Area....perhaps to Oakland's Paramount Theater...another terrific venue.

  • Koz & Culbertson -OMG

by Cecia on 7/11/09Montalvo - SaratogaRating: 5 out of 5

Last night was one of the best shows I have been to in a long time. Brian and Dave were on the top of their game. I felt like I had won the lottery, the show was just that good! This is what I call summer!!!

  • The Sax was invented for Koz !!!!

by jrgilb on 7/11/09Sandia Casino Amphitheater - AlbuquerqueRating: 5 out of 5

Dave Koz must surely be the ultimate reason for the invention of the sax ....... While there are many musicians who have mastered the instrument, Koz can certainly claim not only mastery, but ownership! Augmenting his musical ability is his showmanship which, in my opinion, is second to none. Surrounded by a world-class group of musicians, he melds the unsurpassed talents of all into a cohesive blend creating a musical experience without equal. Put this all together in the excellent Sandia Casino Amphitheater and a memory is born.

  • Dave Koz's talent is without comparison!

by Lucas on 7/11/09Sandia Casino Amphitheater - AlbuquerqueRating: 4 out of 5

This was my first smooth jazz concert, and believe me, not my last. Dave Koz and Friends really know how to put on a show, not just with thier talents, but by involving the crowd and making it fun to watch. I am definetly going to be on the lookout for the next concert in my area!

  • Dave Koz is the Koolest!

  • Awesome Evening

by Smoother on 7/11/09Montalvo - SaratogaRating: 5 out of 5

Koz and Culbertson were just great, playing off each other's strengths and giving us 2 hours of terrific smooth jazz. The band was superb and atmosphere was great. If you are a fan of smooth jazz, these two are the best. The music while mellow at times also moved into some great "funk". Don't miss these two!

Wonderful Concert. Venue was open air at the Sandia Casino. Great setting.

  • Brian Culbertson more than interesting David Koz

by judgejrc on 7/10/09Fraze Pavillion - KetteringRating: 3 out of 5

Brian Culbetson's energy and music over whelmed David Koz's sound-the-same songs. David Koz talked way, way too much, considering that his comments were as boring as his songs. It is a shame that Brian Culbertson thought that he had to perform with Koz at this point in his career.
