About

DAVE KOZ IN CONCERT:

When Dave Koz takes the stage, all is quiet as the audience intently listens to every pure note from the seasoned saxophonist. Playing both tenor and alto sax, his fingers glide across the instrument with an ease that can't be matched. Whether he's performing chart-topping hits like "Life In the Fast Lane" and "Put the Top Down" or launching into an epic solo, Koz's grace on the woodwind instrument is exceptional, full of trills, thrills, and spontaneity during his hit-filled set lists. Dave Koz returns to the stage in 2014 for his upcoming Summer Horns tour as well as a string of highly anticipated shows with Barry Manilow.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Starting out in his high school's jazz band, Dave Koz fell in love with the saxophone early on, deciding to pursue music full time after graduating from college. He landed on tour with Bobby Caldwell not long after and served as a studio musician in the '80s before launching his breakout solo career. Since then, Koz has released 15 studio albums — eight of which have reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Jazz chart — and four No. 1 jazz singles. Not only is the nine-time Grammy nominee a sensational saxophonist, but he's also a radio personality, television host, and philanthropist, serving as a Global Ambassador for the Starlight Children's Foundation. Koz will delight fans with his smooth jazz sounds on his upcoming tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

  • Fabulous Concert too loud

by Rose on 9/10/19Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 5 out of 5

Mable house is a great venue. The crowd for this event was totally into the music. The musicians delivered and then some. My only problem was The volume. Way too loud, painful even. Also the bass was turned up so much that it obscured other sounds and vibrated the back of my seat. Maybe for a heavy metal concert this would be good but for smooth jazz not so much. This makes us somewhat not inclined to return.

  • Awesome show!

by Silky Smooth on 9/10/19Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 5 out of 5

This by far was a show I'll never forget! My first time seeing all of the musicians except Gerald Albright. God certainly has given them all such unique talents. If you are a true music lover, please go check out these performers! My faves were Dave Koz, Rick Braun, Gerald Albright, Kenny Lattimore. As for the venue, Mable House Ampitheater is fantastic. Very friendly staff & love the seating. Thank you for such a beautiful evening.

This concert was fantastic. Each artist displayed their A game. The venue sound and seating was exceptional. I listen to Dave Koz radio show on Sundays. Dave, Gerald Albright, Richard Elliott, and the keyboard player were my favorites. I give the show Five (5) stars.

  • Wow! What A Concert!

by chopla on 9/11/18State Theatre, Kalamazoo - KalamazooRating: 5 out of 5

We've seen a couple of these guys play over the years. Richard Elliott has always been a favorite. Rick Braun is high up on our players we enjoy too. Put these guys together with the energy of Dave Koz, the rock steady play of Gerald Albright, and then add Aubrey Logan, and the "WOW!" factor is the result. For the folks who don't know these guys, go to the concert because you'll know the music they played. Dave Koz explained that when he got the players together, they all had an opinion of which songs they thought should be included on the album. The result? A great mix of jazz pop and big band standards, mixed with contemporary jazz that was fresh and upbeat. And hats off to Aubrey Logan. She stood right up to the guys and blew her trombone as strong as the sax and horn playing. She can sing a song too. A great tribute to Aretha was cheered by the crowd. WOW!

  • exceeds expectations

by smoothjazzconcertlover on 9/11/18State Theatre, Kalamazoo - KalamazooRating: 5 out of 5

I went expecting a great show and was treated to one of, if not the best, show I have ever seen. All the performers on the summer horn tour are consummate professionals and while they are all national recording artists in their own right, they meshed together beautifully. They performed together for approx 75% of the show, and each did a solo of their own with the back up band (which itself was phenomenal). If you are even a slight fan of jazz or smooth jazz and have a chance to this 2018 Summer Horn tour DO NOT MISS IT!!!!!!!!

First I want to say that I hate surveys and reviews. Everybody is hounding for reviews. Did I say I hate reviews. Way to many requests for them. Because I really liked the concert I will take some time to do this. . Great Show , Great Sound and Lights, staff excellent . Probably the best Concert I have ever been to and I am 66.

Great concert. Superb musicians and Singer. Excellent program, without an intermission. MGM sound system was excellent, except that it failed twice during the later part of the show. That should never happen. It was very distracting, but the musicians played right through the problem, The TV monitors and the room acoustics were excellent. the room is perfect for its size and intimacy for the audience, in my opinion. I will go there again.
