About

DAVE KOZ IN CONCERT:

When Dave Koz takes the stage, all is quiet as the audience intently listens to every pure note from the seasoned saxophonist. Playing both tenor and alto sax, his fingers glide across the instrument with an ease that can't be matched. Whether he's performing chart-topping hits like "Life In the Fast Lane" and "Put the Top Down" or launching into an epic solo, Koz's grace on the woodwind instrument is exceptional, full of trills, thrills, and spontaneity during his hit-filled set lists. Dave Koz returns to the stage in 2014 for his upcoming Summer Horns tour as well as a string of highly anticipated shows with Barry Manilow.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Starting out in his high school's jazz band, Dave Koz fell in love with the saxophone early on, deciding to pursue music full time after graduating from college. He landed on tour with Bobby Caldwell not long after and served as a studio musician in the '80s before launching his breakout solo career. Since then, Koz has released 15 studio albums — eight of which have reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Jazz chart — and four No. 1 jazz singles. Not only is the nine-time Grammy nominee a sensational saxophonist, but he's also a radio personality, television host, and philanthropist, serving as a Global Ambassador for the Starlight Children's Foundation. Koz will delight fans with his smooth jazz sounds on his upcoming tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

  • Fabulous Family Christmas Event

by Phil on 12/26/21San Jose Civic - San JoseRating: 5 out of 5

I have been attending this event with my wife, mother-in-law and aunt for the past 5 yrs and it never disappoints. This year was especially great with Jonathan Butler and Rebecca, who both blew us away with their powerful and heartfelt vocals. Dave and Rick also exceeded expectations with their mastery of their respective horns, song and Dance - what a blast! I hope this tradition continues for another decade at least. Thank you and Happy Holidays!

  • 24th annual Dave Koz & Friends Christmas Concert!

by Diane O on 12/26/21San Jose Civic - San JoseRating: 5 out of 5

This was the second Dave Koz Christmas concert my husband and I have attended. We hope to make this a annual Christmas tradition for us because we love Dave's style of contemporary jazz and the fun energy he brings to this show along with his friends. It really puts us in the Christmas Spirit!

  • Excellent though missing Richard Elliott

    by K. C. on 12/26/21San Jose Civic - San JoseRating: 5 out of 5

New singer was outstanding, JB was his usual brilliant self and I felt like I didn't need to go to church after his songs

  • Wonderful Christmas Event

by Brigette on 12/26/21San Jose Civic - San JoseRating: 5 out of 5

The performance was amazing. From the first song to the encore! Beautiful voices, song selections, and on-stage presence. Was a gift for my husband because he is a huge Dave Koz fan, however we equally enjoy the evening.

  • A great end to the 24th Annual Christmas tour in San Jose

by GregG on 12/26/21San Jose Civic - San JoseRating: 5 out of 5

I really enjoyed the show. It was the first time I've seen Rebecca Jade and she was a great addition to the roster. I'm sure some set list and choreography were required because Richard Elliot was unable to be on stage that night, December 23, but the show appeared to go on seamlessly without him; a credit to the talent of the musicians, stage manager and crew. I was seated third row center and very much appreciated stage lighting that rarely directly high intensity LED light beams into my eyes (a painful experience during the 2017 show at the San Jose Civic). However, backlighting often overwhelmed general and spot lighting, leaving faces insufficiently illuminated, especially when performers were downstage. It seemed the electric batten in front of the proscenium arch lacked sufficient lumens to compete with powerful LED lighting on angled trusses directly above mid-stage. Hoping for a better balance next time.

  • Christmas Smooth Jazz Experience

We have been attending the Dave Koz Christmas Concert consecutively for about 10 years and this show was the best!

  • Koz Horseshoe Casino Review

by PEZ on 12/13/21The Venue at Horseshoe Casino - HammondRating: 3 out of 5

I think Dave Koz was very disappointed with the low turn-out for the show (as compared to their typical turnout when they traditionally booked at the Chicago theater) and as such they cut back on the stage decorations, costumes, no intermission etc. They also were only booked for one night when Chicago theater was usually for two nights. Having to walk thru the casino portion of Horseshoe to get to the show venue was disgusting with the stench of the cigarette smoke. However, as always, Dave put on a great show despite the short-comings.

  • Nothing like the Chicago Theater.

by Davy on 12/13/21The Venue at Horseshoe Casino - HammondRating: 3 out of 5

Seats we’re too close, everyone was crunched together and there were plenty of seats in back and in the balcony. and because the seats were all level, if someone sitting in front of you was filming, you could not see. No usher ever stopped them. Although parking was free, I’d rather pay the extra money at the Chgo Theater and be more comfortable. But the show was excellent.

  • One of the best I have every attened

by Lynn on 12/13/21The Venue at Horseshoe Casino - HammondRating: 5 out of 5

From beginning to end the whole concert was great. First time ever seeing Dave Koz, Richard Elliott and Rick Braun, Rebecca Jade. I truly enjoyed the night. If I could see the whole show again tomorrow, I would and bring someone with me.

  • Dave Koz

by Tomg on 12/13/21The Venue at Horseshoe Casino - HammondRating: 5 out of 5

Dave Koz and his friends never disappoint and Friday in Hammond was no different. I was a little skeptical about the venue, a casino theatre, but it was great, Nice, spacious, comfortable, well run. The show was awesome as per usual. We have had the pleasure of attending numerous Koz Christmas concerts and each of them was great as was this one!

  • Dave Koz Christmas Tour

by Gannie on 12/13/21The Venue at Horseshoe Casino - HammondRating: 5 out of 5

I was looking forward to the show and all of the artists, but, it didn’t occur to me that they would primarily be performing Christmas songs, but, I was not disappointed… the show was awesome! I was accompanied by a friend of mine that does not like “jazz” period, but she had a great time and enjoyed it immensely!

  • Silver Foxes!

  • First show at Soundboard

by OTC1993 on 12/11/21Sound Board at MotorCity Casino Hotel - DetroitRating: 2 out of 5

We were all excited and not disappointed by Dave Koz and friends Xmas show, very high energy great musicians and really good vocalist. Our big complaint was how cold the venue was. When I asked a worker why, was told behind stage was a door that led out to tour bus and alot of times it was left open. We had to wear coat whole show and our feet was frozen. Dave Koz on more than one occasion even commented how cold it was backstage. Very disappointed in this and we will not go back to another cold weather show there with the fear of being uncomfortable the whole show.

The Dave Koz & Friends concert was an exceptional experience. The combination of horns, rhythm section and vocals were really. I loved the way they covered all of the Christmas Classics and finished with popular cuts from each artist. Dave Koz, Jonathan Butler, Richard Elliot and Rick Braun. Killer lineup!!! Can't wait til next year.

  • Put me in the holiday spirit

by Pugmamma on 12/9/21Sound Board at MotorCity Casino Hotel - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

My daughter and I ate at the Assembly Line Buffet before the Dave Koz Christmas Show. The food and service was awesome. It was a little odd having to cash in my "phone" tickets at the Box Office just to eat, and I'm not sure why that was necessary (?). However, there was no issue with using my phone to pull up the tickets at the concert entrance which was scanned by the staff. I was pleasantly surprised that folks were searched for metallic objects and even "wanded" if necessary for security purposes. The seating was very good with excellent view of the stage. Big screen TVs were within view. Everything about Dave's show was top notch! The performance was high energy with a wide variety of songs to get one in the spirit of Christmas. I would go again in a "heartbeat." I appreciate the fact that the Motor City Casino has a dress code for no "see through" or revealing garments. And face masks were required which seems reasonable in light of COVID. Parking was easy in the garage which was well lit. I felt safe there.

  • Great to be together for the holidays

Dave was fantastic. Jonathon Butler was very entertaining. Great to see the new kid on Holiday tour, Richard Elliot. Sound Board venue is a great facility. Loved the show
