About

DAVE KOZ IN CONCERT:

When Dave Koz takes the stage, all is quiet as the audience intently listens to every pure note from the seasoned saxophonist. Playing both tenor and alto sax, his fingers glide across the instrument with an ease that can't be matched. Whether he's performing chart-topping hits like "Life In the Fast Lane" and "Put the Top Down" or launching into an epic solo, Koz's grace on the woodwind instrument is exceptional, full of trills, thrills, and spontaneity during his hit-filled set lists. Dave Koz returns to the stage in 2014 for his upcoming Summer Horns tour as well as a string of highly anticipated shows with Barry Manilow.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Starting out in his high school's jazz band, Dave Koz fell in love with the saxophone early on, deciding to pursue music full time after graduating from college. He landed on tour with Bobby Caldwell not long after and served as a studio musician in the '80s before launching his breakout solo career. Since then, Koz has released 15 studio albums — eight of which have reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Jazz chart — and four No. 1 jazz singles. Not only is the nine-time Grammy nominee a sensational saxophonist, but he's also a radio personality, television host, and philanthropist, serving as a Global Ambassador for the Starlight Children's Foundation. Koz will delight fans with his smooth jazz sounds on his upcoming tour dates.

  • Talent and stage presence

Dave Coz, Gerald Albreit, Richard Elliott, and Rick Braun are not only talented, but exude enthusiasm, warmth, and appreciation. The shows are not just music, but a perfect choreographed performance. Their philanthropy and enthusiasm for showcasing new talent (young guitar player and you lady on trombone) are examples of their unparalleled character.

  • Coz

by Havard on 7/9/18Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza - Thousand OaksRating: 5 out of 5

The Dave Coz concert was spectacular. Every member of the band was a superb musician and incredible technician on their instrument. Exciting sound and energy. Unfortunately, as has been the case in the past, the sound system was not up to the quality of the band. The mix several times left several solos very difficult to hear, especially keyboard. Don't know if this was a hardware issue or operator inexperience. Otherwise we're looking forward to this bands return in the future.

Awesome concert with the best musicians on the planet.

  • Unwelcome Vegas-Like show

by wally68 on 7/9/18Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza - Thousand OaksRating: 2 out of 5

While Dave Koz is obviously talented, so were several of the other big name artists on stage who did NOT get to do enough solo's of THEIR talents. Dave Koz was busy being way too chatty and with over-exaggerated moves like he was a rock musician instead of a jazz artist. Richard Elliott however was the show's bright spot.

  • Dave Koz and Friends AMAZING

Dave Koz never ceases to amaze me, every one of his shows is wonderful. He and his fellow artists are not excellent musicians but are entertainers as well. Definitely a show to see

  • Summer Horns A Huge Disappointment

    by DisappointedinAtl55 on 7/7/18Wolf Creek Amphitheater - AtlantaRating: 1 out of 5

I am a huge Rick Braun & Richard Elliot fan - that is my “Go-To” on Pandora. I was “so” looking forward to this paring of great artists, they have so many hits and combined songs to make a spectacular evening. First off, the venue was so loud it was painful, this is Smooth Jazz not Metallica - will not be attending the Wolfcreek venue ever again (sound board should be fired). Regarding the concert, expected an evening of Koz, Braun, Elliot, and Albright HITS, received Braun singing Paul Simon, the new artist singing Route 66 (really) and Koz’s lead guitar solo number —- Not What I Came For And Not What I Paid For! Have been to Koz Christmas Tours and they are great, this was very disappointing. No interest in future Summer Horns and now no interest in the Smooth Jazz Cruises. Sorry if you are tired of playing what made you famous, but that is what the audience is paying to see. Totally ruined evening...

  • Dave Koz at Wolf Creek

    by JazzGuy1953 on 6/29/18Wolf Creek Amphitheater - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Good Concert by the artists. The only negatives were the Wolf Creek Venue itself. The music Volume - 1) too loud and the balance between instruments & between vocals. 2) Drums & Organ too loud over Sax 3) all to loud over vocals.

  • Awesome!

Music, musicians and venue were on point! Unforgettable night!

  • Summer Horns was Fantastic!

by spidder on 6/28/18Wolf Creek Amphitheater - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

It was an unbelievable evening when I attended the Dave Koz Summer Horns Concert. To my surprised Pieces of A Dream opened up with a vengeance and determination to outdo Dave Koz and the gang. They were full of energy and interactive musicians playing throughout the audience. But Alas... when it is time to hear the Summer Horns... Dave Koz, Rick Braun, Richard Elliott, Gerald Albright and the only female, Aubrey Logan...Life is so good, These artists are legends and have stellar individual careers, so when you can see them together the experience is outstanding. Each artist was on the top of his/her artistic game. Do not miss this show when it comes to a city near you!

Excellent show. I love the energy that all Dave Koz shows have. Albright, Bruam and Elliott are all superstars on their own, Pieces of a Dream was a spectacular lead in act. Lightfoot is an excellent host. This was an outstanding show.

  • Great Show...but venue terrible.

by Mattshank on 6/27/18State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 1 out of 5

I cannot say enough good things about the performance itself and the high caliber of musicianship displayed. It makes it all the more unfortunate that the venue (State Theater) was absolutely horrible in terms of acoustics. The sound was echoing, washy, and had very little delineation between the instruments. Please understand the context of my one star. It has nothing to do with the players and their amazing skill, but has everything to do with the venue. This is an old theater and perhaps for a play it would be fine, but for music do not go to this theater.
