DAVE KOZ IN CONCERT:
When Dave Koz takes the stage, all is quiet as the audience intently listens to every pure note from the seasoned saxophonist. Playing both tenor and alto sax, his fingers glide across the instrument with an ease that can't be matched. Whether he's performing chart-topping hits like "Life In the Fast Lane" and "Put the Top Down" or launching into an epic solo, Koz's grace on the woodwind instrument is exceptional, full of trills, thrills, and spontaneity during his hit-filled set lists. Dave Koz returns to the stage in 2014 for his upcoming Summer Horns tour as well as a string of highly anticipated shows with Barry Manilow.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Starting out in his high school's jazz band, Dave Koz fell in love with the saxophone early on, deciding to pursue music full time after graduating from college. He landed on tour with Bobby Caldwell not long after and served as a studio musician in the '80s before launching his breakout solo career. Since then, Koz has released 15 studio albums — eight of which have reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Jazz chart — and four No. 1 jazz singles. Not only is the nine-time Grammy nominee a sensational saxophonist, but he's also a radio personality, television host, and philanthropist, serving as a Global Ambassador for the Starlight Children's Foundation. Koz will delight fans with his smooth jazz sounds on his upcoming tour dates.

I never thought the two would be as good as it was together. I like Brian Culbertson better than Dave Koz and it seemed they used more of his music than Brian's but that is was my only problem with the show. I was a great show.
This was my 2nd time seeing Brian Culbertson at the Fraze & the first time I've seen Dave Koz in concert. HUGE Brian Culbertson fan!! Had a great time & hope to see Brian back in Kettering in 2010.
Dave was the first smooth jazz artist I ever saw (the Saxophonic tour). I have several of his CD's and like him but I absolutely love Brian Culbertson. This is the third time I've seen him live and the energy he brings to the stage is amazing. The two of them together is a match made in smooth jazz heaven !
They cut up so bad that they need to be sent to their rooms! This concert was AWESOME! This was my first time seeing both of them in concert.. this is going to have to be a yearly occurrence for me now. Brian Culbertson did one song on his keyboard that made allllll the women in the audience need a cigarette afterwards... I don't even smoke! If you can make a keyboard talk like that, you should need a permit. Koz was just classy and sassy! I'd recommend this duo in concert anytime!
This was a much anticipated show and it lived up to the hype. Two Mega-Stars of Smooth Jazz teaming up, it was great. When you think of two stars of this magnitude teaming together you wonder how will they match up, how will they share the spotlight? They pulled it off great, neither was trying to steal the show, they both wanted to display the other's talent as well as their own. I would recommend to any seasoned fan or a newcomer, to check out this show when it comes to your area.
This was my first time at the Fraze and it shall not be my last. The outdoor environment was very warm and inviting. If you have not yet had an opportunity to experience a concert there I highly recommend that you do.
i have these two as my ring tone and have NEVER missed a concert when they are nearby. The energy, the happiness and joy they bring is unbelievable. I have seen Dave with Wayman, Mindi Abair and too many others to mention. I hope they continue putting the Dayton area on their tour destinations. GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL. The only bad part was when it ended. Thanks for sharing your talent with all of us.
More than what I expected, and I would go again and recommend everyone go and bring a friend!
Both guys are great entertianers. My wife and I enjoyed the show immensly!
I enjoyed this concert so much. I had never seen Dave Koz in concert, and it was more than I expected.
Brian Culbertson is one of the most entertainer performers out there, and Dave Koz has been doing his thing for the longest and it's always good. My only disappointment was that I didn't win the tickets for the Smooth Jazz cruise, I attended the last one and it was great...
This was a great outdoor concert. The venue was clean the food was great, and the weather was perfect for a summer evening concert. The Fraze is the most beautiful outdoor venue in Ohio and I have often traveled from from as far as Cleveland to see my favorite artists. I took my 12 year old daughter with me and she enjoyed the jokes and camraderie between the musicians. And I enjoyed the great music!.
I've experienced the chemistry between these two artists before. They have a very complimentary sound and a dynamic performance. Great Show.
The brilliant pairing of Dave Koz and Brian Culbertson was a smooth jazz match made in heaven! These two consummate performers pour their heart and souls into their performances, playing off each other with wit and humor and great camaraderie. As they have done in the studio many times over the years, these two continue to make beautiful music together and when they are on stage together, they are nothing less than spectacular! If you have the opportunity, catch these two on their Side By Side Tour this summer. They deliver a performance that will live on in your memory for a lifetime.
A major disappointment. Based upon the style of music associated with these two, I expected smooth jazz. That is not what was played. I am not sure what the music would be considered, although Boz said Funk at one point. When Culbertson and Boz were on the stage by themselves, the music was a pleasure to hear, but with the band, you could not hear the nuances of Boz and Culbertson's playing. The bass and drums were way too loud, the beat was lacking rhythm, relying on loudness over anything else. It took three days for my hearing to return to normal. Fraze needs to do something about the late arrivals. Do like Schuster, no one is seated after the performance starts. Very distracting for people to climb over those trying to watch the show. The ushers need to pay attention to where in the row people are to be seated. Do not let people seated in the far end of the row enter at the start of the row, send them to the other end!
The Fraze is a great place to see concerts. As always Dave Koz put on an amazing show. Together with Brian Culbertson one of the best this year.
The show was fanatastic! We have enjoyed Dave Koz for years. This was our first time to see Brain -- he puts on a fantastic show. We loved it!!
What a way to end an evening. Dave Koz was entertaining as usual. His sax work was impecable and he knew how to play to the crowd as he and his band really put on a great show. Brian C was an excellent addition and sure did not dissapoint with his piano work. I'd recommend seeing these musicians anywhere they perform, but the Fraze is one of the tops for outdoor live music venues.
I moved to Louisville from California last year, and I thought the only way I would get my dose of Dave and Brian is through my CD collection, but when I received Brian's newsletter and saw he was not only touring the east coast, but he was touring with Dave Koz, I could not buy my tickets fast enough. Words can not express how incredibly unforgettable it was to see Dave and Brian together on the same stage. I could hardly contain myself....I took my two sons Joshua age 15 and Lamont age 18 and they both agreed that their first jazz concert ever, gave them a crystal clear understanding as to why Dave and Brian are my two favorite artist... Thank you Dave and Brian for coming together and giving me my two for one tag team dream of a lifetime.....I'll never forget it!!!!
