About

DAVE KOZ IN CONCERT:

When Dave Koz takes the stage, all is quiet as the audience intently listens to every pure note from the seasoned saxophonist. Playing both tenor and alto sax, his fingers glide across the instrument with an ease that can't be matched. Whether he's performing chart-topping hits like "Life In the Fast Lane" and "Put the Top Down" or launching into an epic solo, Koz's grace on the woodwind instrument is exceptional, full of trills, thrills, and spontaneity during his hit-filled set lists. Dave Koz returns to the stage in 2014 for his upcoming Summer Horns tour as well as a string of highly anticipated shows with Barry Manilow.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Starting out in his high school's jazz band, Dave Koz fell in love with the saxophone early on, deciding to pursue music full time after graduating from college. He landed on tour with Bobby Caldwell not long after and served as a studio musician in the '80s before launching his breakout solo career. Since then, Koz has released 15 studio albums — eight of which have reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Jazz chart — and four No. 1 jazz singles. Not only is the nine-time Grammy nominee a sensational saxophonist, but he's also a radio personality, television host, and philanthropist, serving as a Global Ambassador for the Starlight Children's Foundation. Koz will delight fans with his smooth jazz sounds on his upcoming tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

One of the best outdoor concerts I've been to in years! Brian Culbertson was superb, as was the Koz. Great array of songs from over the years. Brian, please "bring back the funk" to Minnesota next year at the Zoo!!! Love you guys....

  • Zoo concert with Koz and Culbie

by mpls4477 on 7/20/09Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple ValleyRating: 5 out of 5

That was one of the best concerts I've ever attended. Both Dave and Brian are such talented musiciians in their own right, together simply amazing. Their music meshed, and they had a good time on stage. Great band with them. I love the zoo setting for a concert:can't beat an outside concert on a summer night.

  • Dave & Brian & Band were totally amazing!!!

Wow, what a night at the zoo. Could not ask for a better concert.

  • Koz/Culbertson was electrifying with enthusiasm

by adventureman on 7/20/09Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple ValleyRating: 5 out of 5

Dave Koz and Brian Culbertson put on an energetic performance from start to finish. The shared stage with their super band were all featured with no one being left out. The weather was perfect just as the music was perfect. It made for a wonderful evening of music

  • Koz was great as usual, as was Culbertson

by jejojejo on 7/20/09Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple ValleyRating: 4 out of 5

This was the third year that we went to see Dave Koz and friends at the Zoo. Dave put on a great show, always makes you feel that he is playing just for you. I was also very impressed with Brian Culbertson, this is the first time I've seen him live. The only negative about the concert was that it was too loud, it seemed that the bass, drums, and keyboards were boosted in volume and at times they overpowered Dave and Brian, I think the person running the mixing board could have done a much better job.

  • Dave Koz/Brian Culbertson -what a show!

by leftygirl on 7/20/09The Venue - HammondRating: 5 out of 5

For a small group of performers, they put on a hugh show. The music was wonderful and the two artists gave excellent performances. Even the back up crew gave it their all and then some. Too bad the show couldn't have lasted longer!!!

  • Dave Koz & Brian Culbertson - Fantastic!!!

by Buntsy on 7/20/09Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple ValleyRating: 5 out of 5

There is nothing better than great music outside. This was my first concert at the Zoo. What a great intimate setting to hear two fantastic jazz musicians. Althought their music styles are different they complement each so well. I definitely would do a repeat next year and am already looking forward to it!

  • Dave Koz and Brian Culbertson was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

by bjazzy on 7/20/09Fraze Pavilion - KetteringRating: 5 out of 5

This combination of artists has been and always is an AWESOME act to see. I have seen them in other locations( Captial Jazzfest-Maryland, Cincinnati-special Christmas show with Patty Austin and previous Fraze performances) and I am amazed at their ability to project such music(individually and jointly) and the crowds truely loved having them at the Fraze. I told a lot of friends about this upcoming show once I got my email from the Fraze. They all agreed this was the best show to kick start their summer. We all want MORE........

  • Koz and Culby Were Amazing

by JefCe on 7/20/09Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple ValleyRating: 5 out of 5

This band continues to get better! What a show! Brian and Dave had such great chemistry and created and delivered a show of high entertainment. The Zoo venue is incredible, not a bad seat in the house, acoustics are wonderful. Bill "Rubber-hand Man" Sharpe and Randy Jacobs were the carry-overs from previous shows and both continue to delight the audience with their talent and showmanship. Adding Chris at drums was really good. Chris has also been seen in the twin cities with Nick Colione and Four 80 East. The keyboard player was also good.

  • What a fun concert!

by Lorijja on 7/20/09Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple ValleyRating: 5 out of 5

What a fun concert! It was probably the best concert I've ever attended in terms of energy, fun and incredible music.

  • Koz & Culbertson - great energy and talent

by Micco on 7/20/09Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple ValleyRating: 5 out of 5

Dave Koz has an affinity for the Twin Cities and the Mn zoo. He has close ties to a local family and is proud of this. His playing and feeling is true. He makes the crowd a part of music. Brian is a very talented musician and showman - just like Dave. He wasn't just going through the motions. He enjoyed being at the zoo. Like Dave said " when you see the zoo you will understand". Hope they come back next year.

  • KOZ & CULBERTSON FANTASTIC!

by MRNORTHLAND on 7/20/09Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple ValleyRating: 5 out of 5

This was a wonderful and energetic concert and every musician on stage was very talented and cool. It was obvious that the band was having a great time as well as the audience.

  • Dave Koz and Brian Culbertson ROCKED!

by TammyJean on 7/20/09Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple ValleyRating: 5 out of 5

This was an incredible concert. The cohesiveness of these two was incredible, and typically you don't see that with artists that pair up like this. They meshed well and both are masters at what they do. I love Koz on the sax, man...he is AWESOME. I could listen to that all day....

  • Unbelievable Concert!

    by Smitty50 on 7/20/09The Venue - HammondRating: 5 out of 5

My husband & I are huge jazz fans, and this concert was the best one that we have been too. The music was awesome, the band was terrific, they totally played off of each other. It was so entertaining & fun! We went with 2 other couples who have never seen Brian Culbertson & they were just amazed, the two really complemented each other. We didnt want it to end!!!!
