About

DAVE KOZ IN CONCERT:

When Dave Koz takes the stage, all is quiet as the audience intently listens to every pure note from the seasoned saxophonist. Playing both tenor and alto sax, his fingers glide across the instrument with an ease that can't be matched. Whether he's performing chart-topping hits like "Life In the Fast Lane" and "Put the Top Down" or launching into an epic solo, Koz's grace on the woodwind instrument is exceptional, full of trills, thrills, and spontaneity during his hit-filled set lists. Dave Koz returns to the stage in 2014 for his upcoming Summer Horns tour as well as a string of highly anticipated shows with Barry Manilow.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Starting out in his high school's jazz band, Dave Koz fell in love with the saxophone early on, deciding to pursue music full time after graduating from college. He landed on tour with Bobby Caldwell not long after and served as a studio musician in the '80s before launching his breakout solo career. Since then, Koz has released 15 studio albums — eight of which have reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Jazz chart — and four No. 1 jazz singles. Not only is the nine-time Grammy nominee a sensational saxophonist, but he's also a radio personality, television host, and philanthropist, serving as a Global Ambassador for the Starlight Children's Foundation. Koz will delight fans with his smooth jazz sounds on his upcoming tour dates.

What an unbelievable experience. I could not sit still in my seat, I was so moved by the music. What a professional production! The combination of Dave Koz and Brian Culbertson was genius! My heart and soul were refreshed and refueled from this musical experience. The band is unbelievable and share the spotlight equally with Dave and Brian. From guitars to drums, to keyboard, to trombone and saxophone it was a wonderful mix of instrumental delight. Thanks for a wonderful evening. I could have stayed all night!!!

Brian Culbertson has a lot of energy during his concerts; it is easy to see that he has a lot of fun playing his music. Dave Koz brought his usual great sense of humor and played some of his best songs.

  • Dave Koz & Brian Culbertson

by Juann on 7/22/09Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple ValleyRating: 5 out of 5

This was our 4th Dave Koz concert held in the Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater. Just when you think it can't get any better, long and behold, the concert blew our minds. Dave and Brian complemented each other and were in sinc throughout the entire concert. Each performer's band were insensational(remarkably talented musicians)! All in all, it was a magical night which went far too fast. We look forward to future Dave Koz concerts and would enjoy seeing more of Brian in the Twin Cities area.

  • Dave Koz and Brian Culbertson Side By Side – Great

by SmoothJazzMike on 7/21/09Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater - Apple ValleyRating: 5 out of 5

Dave Koz has been coming to the Minnesota Zoo for about four years now and I’ve had the pleasure to see them all. He has always put on a great show. He is the consummate showman who includes all the elements for a great concert including excellent musicians, superb mix of songs, entertaining dialog with the audience and usually some audience participation which always puts the crowd right into it. In addition he brings with him other great smooth jazz artists and this year was no exception having Brian Culbertson on stage with him, side by side. They mixed their bands, their music and it worked perfectly. Brian Culbertson’s keyboard and trombone playing was top notch and Dave Koz was his usual best playing the sax. The high energy of both musicians and their band really rocked the outdoor amphitheater audience. Dave said he will be back to the zoo next year, and I’ll be 1st in line for my tickets. This is one concert I always look forward to every year.

  • Dave Koz was fantastic!!
