About

DAVE KOZ IN CONCERT:

When Dave Koz takes the stage, all is quiet as the audience intently listens to every pure note from the seasoned saxophonist. Playing both tenor and alto sax, his fingers glide across the instrument with an ease that can't be matched. Whether he's performing chart-topping hits like "Life In the Fast Lane" and "Put the Top Down" or launching into an epic solo, Koz's grace on the woodwind instrument is exceptional, full of trills, thrills, and spontaneity during his hit-filled set lists. Dave Koz returns to the stage in 2014 for his upcoming Summer Horns tour as well as a string of highly anticipated shows with Barry Manilow.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Starting out in his high school's jazz band, Dave Koz fell in love with the saxophone early on, deciding to pursue music full time after graduating from college. He landed on tour with Bobby Caldwell not long after and served as a studio musician in the '80s before launching his breakout solo career. Since then, Koz has released 15 studio albums — eight of which have reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Jazz chart — and four No. 1 jazz singles. Not only is the nine-time Grammy nominee a sensational saxophonist, but he's also a radio personality, television host, and philanthropist, serving as a Global Ambassador for the Starlight Children's Foundation. Koz will delight fans with his smooth jazz sounds on his upcoming tour dates.

Both artists were great. I've been a fan of Dave Koz for a long time and have enjoyed all his music. Brian Culberson complements Dave's to a T. I also possess Brian's music and love it. Great show. Hope to see them both again next year. A must-see. Both a great showmen. I think their love for music comes through when they are on stage.

We sure enjoyed Dave and Brian in Houston last night. The setting was very intimate. They played all of our favorites and more. It was high energy from the start. Dave did a great job "playing" to the audience. Brian is incredibly soulful. We were fortunate to get to meet Dave at the end of the concert. He's very personable. We have seen him in a few different cities. We can't wait to see him next time!

Great combination of 2 top of the line artists. It was the best smooth jazz concerts we have been to. ( and we have been to the best). The energy and smooth transfer from one song to the next was outstanding. The energy level never let you down. Great mix of high energy songs and some nice easy songs. Love the concert,

It just doesn't get much better for contemporary/smooth jazz, true muscianship.

  • Blown Away (Dave and Brian)

by edster on 7/26/09House of Blues Dallas - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

The only issue that I had with this show is that I am not still there 2 days later enjoying these two's talent. Dave and Brian complimented each other marvelously.

  • Dave Koz and Brian Culbertson were memorable!

by BigDee on 7/26/09House of Blues Houston - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time at the House of Blues. The sound of Dave Koz and BCulbertson was so clear, it felt as if I were sitting center stage Row 1. I have not heard the trombone played like that in a long time. BrianC could be a New Orleanian. The bass player plucked like Bootsy Collins. Dave Koz made the saxophone's sound like they were actually singing to you. Plus, all of the songs were songs you remember hearing during your travels to Seattle, Phoenix, New York or places where they had really great jazz stations. Overall, a great concert and I would recommend anyone visit them who considers smooth jazz to be a part of their daily existence. I will be there next year if they return to Houston!

  • Koz and Culbertson on fire

by Smoothjam on 7/26/09House of Blues Houston - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

Expectations exceeded. Koz and Culbertson blended their styles and music in an entertaining fashion. We left wishing for their CD for the long drive home.

My wife and I can now put a personality with two of our favorites. This was the first seeing either in a live performance, and boy what a show. The music, showmanship, humor, and energy were unbelievable. A truly great pairing of talents.

  • Show of the Year

by Jazzgirl70 on 7/26/09House of Blues Houston - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

I am a single parent and can't usually afford the cost of tickets to concerts. I was able to get a Subway discounted ticket for just $5.00 , and I have a blast. The accoustics were impeccable for two of the hottest jazz artists Dave Koz and Brian Culbertson. I would highly recommend these two to others. This was an evening I can say my investment was well worth it.

  • Dave & Brian rocked House of Blues!!!!!

by Sassafras on 7/26/09House of Blues Houston - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

Dave Koz and Brian Culbertson are two amazing musicians! I have been a long time Dave Koz fan, so I was really going to see him. His command of the saxophone, no matter which one, is extraordinary and his overall energy is intoxicating. As for Brian Culbertson, I had heard him some on the radio, but I didn't really know who he was. This young, rock music-looking guy is incredible! Not only is he all over the piano, he also makes the trombone look sexy. Although both guys play different styles of jazz, they were able to mesh their talents together. On top of that, they both are exceptionally funny and entertaining. Awesome show!! My only caveat is the uncomfortableness of standing for approximately 2 1/2 hours (general admission) at The House of Blues - Houston. But thanks to Citicards, the tickets were only $5 a piece, so it was all worth it!

  • Great show!

Dave Koz and Brian Culbertson are both fantastic musicians. I went to the concert because I'm a fan of Dave Koz, but I was just as impressed with Brian and his keyboarding and trombone playing. They're both very talented and entertaining performers.
