About

DAVE KOZ IN CONCERT:

When Dave Koz takes the stage, all is quiet as the audience intently listens to every pure note from the seasoned saxophonist. Playing both tenor and alto sax, his fingers glide across the instrument with an ease that can't be matched. Whether he's performing chart-topping hits like "Life In the Fast Lane" and "Put the Top Down" or launching into an epic solo, Koz's grace on the woodwind instrument is exceptional, full of trills, thrills, and spontaneity during his hit-filled set lists. Dave Koz returns to the stage in 2014 for his upcoming Summer Horns tour as well as a string of highly anticipated shows with Barry Manilow.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Starting out in his high school's jazz band, Dave Koz fell in love with the saxophone early on, deciding to pursue music full time after graduating from college. He landed on tour with Bobby Caldwell not long after and served as a studio musician in the '80s before launching his breakout solo career. Since then, Koz has released 15 studio albums — eight of which have reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Jazz chart — and four No. 1 jazz singles. Not only is the nine-time Grammy nominee a sensational saxophonist, but he's also a radio personality, television host, and philanthropist, serving as a Global Ambassador for the Starlight Children's Foundation. Koz will delight fans with his smooth jazz sounds on his upcoming tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

by Carolac on 8/7/18Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center - DallasRating: 1 out of 5

What we saw of the concert was good. The fact that we missed the first hour due to the lack of adequate parking for this venue was beyond frustrating!!!!!

  • GREAT Summer Saturday Night!!!

by HCKYMAN on 8/7/18Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

While this was my first time seeing Koz, I have been a fan of Richard Elliot's since the early 80s and have seen him tons. But the combination of Koz, Elliot and Rick Braun along with Gerald Albright and Aubrey Logan made for an exceptionally fun summer Saturday night. The music was exceptional, the energy in the theater was vibrant and the crowd was diverse as jazz fans young and old, and every color of the rainbow, set aside the outside world to just let the music take hold. There were a few jokes but really a minimum of chatter between songs. The performers genuinely seem to like and respect each other and that translates to a night we didn't want to see end. Hopefully this Summer Horns tour can become an annual event.

The show was great, just too short! It was only 2 hours long, and I would have thought with as many performers as appeared in the concert, that it would have lasted more than 2 hrs. I've been to other jazz performances with only one performer, and they've played for more than 2 hrs. That's my only critique. I saw Dave Koz & Friends last year and they did the same thing--play for less time than I expected. When the music is great, you want it to go on and on...

Absolute amazing artists! Thanks for the memorable photo!

  • Dave Koz Dallas Summer Tour

by JrGw on 8/7/18Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center - DallasRating: 1 out of 5

It seemed that no sound check had been done before the concert. The music was just loud and you couldn't hear the horns or sax over the drums and bass. We had to leave 30 minutes into the concert because we just couldn't stand how loud the music was. It just was not enjoyable at all. I've been to many concerts at the Meyerson and never experienced something like this. I also really like the music of the performers in this concert so I was so disappointed in the quality of the concert and sound not to mention spending $200 on tickets that were wasted.

  • Summer Horns Tour was Incredible!!

by JazziMe on 8/7/18Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

I was blown away by the performances! I have been a fan of most of these musicians since the 80's. I didn't realize how much I've missed the live performances as my favorite venues have long closed down!! Jazz music is so reflective!! What an Awesome show!!❣
