About

DAVE KOZ IN CONCERT:

When Dave Koz takes the stage, all is quiet as the audience intently listens to every pure note from the seasoned saxophonist. Playing both tenor and alto sax, his fingers glide across the instrument with an ease that can't be matched. Whether he's performing chart-topping hits like "Life In the Fast Lane" and "Put the Top Down" or launching into an epic solo, Koz's grace on the woodwind instrument is exceptional, full of trills, thrills, and spontaneity during his hit-filled set lists. Dave Koz returns to the stage in 2014 for his upcoming Summer Horns tour as well as a string of highly anticipated shows with Barry Manilow.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Starting out in his high school's jazz band, Dave Koz fell in love with the saxophone early on, deciding to pursue music full time after graduating from college. He landed on tour with Bobby Caldwell not long after and served as a studio musician in the '80s before launching his breakout solo career. Since then, Koz has released 15 studio albums — eight of which have reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Jazz chart — and four No. 1 jazz singles. Not only is the nine-time Grammy nominee a sensational saxophonist, but he's also a radio personality, television host, and philanthropist, serving as a Global Ambassador for the Starlight Children's Foundation. Koz will delight fans with his smooth jazz sounds on his upcoming tour dates.

Great musicians, great performers in a beautiful performance hall. They seemed to have as much fun performing as the audience enjoyed watching and participating. I really hope they come back to Dallas.

  • Smooth Jazz at the Meyerson-never sounded so epic

by bluebonnet on 8/10/18Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

DZ and his friends put on a non-stop, smooth jazz celebration for 1 hour and 45 min. at the Meyerson/Dallas, TX. It was all heart and soul and they played their hearts out - no intermission - excellent song choices, fun, upbeat, audience participation, sound outta this world (top venue in DFW area), good prices and their joy spilled over to their audience. We love these people and have been following them for decades - since Caravan of Dreams / Ft Worth days....yes...waaaaay back. RE had his white sax back then....they were all just kids and have stuck together and made money and had a blast doing it. True musicians and we highly recommend this Summer Horns Tour and their cruises if you can afford it. Would definitely go again and they are at the top of their game and still appreciate playing and their fans - and we LOVE them!!!

  • My Jaw was on the floor!

by Tubaplayer on 8/8/18Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and I attended because we knew Aubrey Logan was really great. We were pleasantly surprised by the All Star Collection of artists that performed on stage! We were glued the entire time and before we knew it, they were finishing their last tune and starting the encore! Best concert we’d seen in years....

  • Dave Koz Summer Horns II Outstanding Concert!

by Loginmat on 8/8/18Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

This was my 3rd straight year attending Dave Koz summer concerts and each year I've enjoyed the collection of musicians he brings. Dave always brings a new feature artist and this show had two. Dave, Richard Elliott, Rick Braum & Gerald Albright are some of my favorite artists individually, so to see them in collaboration is magical.

  • If only a better mix...

by Coldsooner on 8/7/18Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

SO MUCH TALENT on one stage. Terrific stuff. And a setlist that hit all the right notes, loved it. Five star show EXCEPT, from our seats, there was so much bass and percussion we couldn’t make out any of the vocals at all. Only a small portion in Rout 66 when the band wasn’t playing could we even make out the words. The best sounding songs of the night were A Train and Take Five, tunes not overpowered by bass and drums. Other than that, great show from great entertainers.

  • Summer Horns - Horns Up!

by Anonymous on 8/7/18Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Great concert, I was excited to see Gerald Albright, I had not seen him live. I have seen the others, whom I love. Aubrey Logan is new for me, she was amazing, a wonderful young artist, she played with the BEST.
