Dave Chappelle Live Performance and Tour
Dave Chappelle, mastermind behind sketch comedy goldmine Chappelle's Show, made a triumphant return to stand-up comedy in 2013. While he's beloved for his famous impersonations of Rick James and Prince, Chappelle doesn't rely on old material for his stand-up act, treating fans to an all-original show featuring extensive improvisation as he interacts with audiences. At his 2013 performances on The Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival, which he co-headlined with Flight of the Conchords, Chappelle had fans rolling on the floor, building anticipation for his highly coveted 2014 tour dates.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT
Born David Khari Webber Chappelle in Washington, D.C., Dave Chappelle studied theatre arts in high school before moving to New York City to pursue standup comedy. Despite getting booed off stage at the Apollo Theater's infamous "Amateur Night," he remained resilient, going on to make a name for himself on the New York comedy circuit. Following several successful film appearances in the '90s, including a starring role in 1998 cult classic Half Baked, Chappelle debuted his namesake sketch comedy show on Comedy Central in 2003, finding both critical and commercial success. In 2006 he released Dave Chappelle's Block Party, a concert film set in Brooklyn featuring performances by Kanye West, The Roots, and a temporarily-reunited Fugees.

"Funniest live performance I've witnessed to date. You will be quoting Chappelle after the show. I was laughing so hard that it started to hurt. Great show from start to finish."
"Dave...he is a comedic genius and one of the best ever. He was amazing and I wished I could have gotten in line and gone to the second show!"
"He was hilarious. Talked about some of his history and was not afraid to get the audience involved. I had a great time."

It was great to see Dave on the road again after being away from our area for so long . Great show . 1st act was great as well.
All three comedians had me in stiches, but Dave Chappelle is like nobody else on this planet.
The opening acts were great and we are all big fans of Dave Chappelle! He came out totally wasted, he talked about the trouble in Ferguson, his trouble with comedy central and other news stories. He had no jokes prepared and was totally not funny. He chain smoked throughout the show and kept asking the crowd "is there anything else we should talk about". Huge waste of money, he is clearly just in need of money. He was once so funny but is really just sad and going through personal issues. I hope he can land on his feet and get back to telling jokes. I will wait for his next HBO special.
This show was AMAZING. Dave & CO put on a memorable show. Dave is such a natural at making people laugh without trying to be funny. He delved into current events which made his stand up not only funny but interesting. It was great to get his perspective because I consider Dave to be an intellect. This is a MUST SEE.
Legendary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Durham Performing Arts Center has an exceptional venue. Doesnt seem like there is a bad seat in the entire place. Dave Chappelle mixes humor with every day life and executes it flawlessly. He is in my opinion one of the best comedians to ever do it. I am so thankful that he performed near my city so I could see him. He hasnt toured often so I feel honored that I am amongst the elite that got to attend his show. Worth every penny!!!
Great show, I was VERY impressed with this show. He came out and admitted to being very drunk but was flawless. His transitions from joke to joke were seemless. Very happy with the show. One thing that I was not happy about was the seating, it was WAY too close. I had no room to move and the guy next to me was practically on top of me.
Dave Chappelle was as good as new. He was sharp and into it. I've seen him before in a smaller setting. His interaction with the crowd is great and his delivery is like we're all just hanging out. Felt cool to be able to go to what seems like a limited run of shows. I wish we had been told there were two opening comedians and wish we were told the start time changed, via email or something.
My husband is one of the biggest Dave Chappelle fans on the planet. I bought tix to this event as a surprise road trip Christmas present. My husband had no clue where we were 'til we got all the way to our seats. He was so happy, he teared up!!!
Dave Chappelle is still hilarious. His routine was both current and funny. A combination of storytelling and straight jokes. The beginning seemed like a clever adlib, followed by a more rehearsed routine. Overall great show.
This was a great event and it was very good and worth the trip.
I seriously cried the whole entire act, from laughter of course. He is simply amazing and hasn't lost a thing. Hits all sorts of topics and his opening acts are pretty funny as well.
Classic Dave Chappelle with solid new material. He is one of the best out there and he did not disappoint.
A dream come true..Center ORC Row A all feels like a blur but it happen He was there and so was I
Show started out great, but about halfway through the show, security closed in on someone using their phone for a possible recording... Dave took the phone and threatened to "kick his mutha fucking ass". When Dave checked the phone and saw there were no recordings, it was very apparent that he realized what he had done was wrong. He then spent the next couple of minutes apologizing and bought the guy a drink to try and smooth things over. Turned me off to the show from that point on. I felt bad for the guy that was falsely accused and it was good to know how we fans are viewed by him. I decided to write this review after being repeatedly asked how I enjoyed the Dave Chapelle's live show.
This was my first time seeing Dave Chappelle live and it was amazing!! I laughed the entire night from the beginning of his set to the end.
Dave Chappell is one of my favorite comedians ever since "The Chappell Show." Doing standup he made us feel like he was putting on a personal show just for us. My husband and I had such a great time, and would see him again in a heartbeat. Thanks, Dave!!
Great stand up...Dave is hilarious and current politically. Great time.
Chappelle had never been my fav comic but he had me laughing all nt long. The venue left much to be desired. While the Egyptian Rm is "cozy" and more personable than an auditorium, the seats are close together and if a tall person happens to sit in front of you, you can't see a thing. Leaning over to see ard the person's shoulder only puts you in your neighbor's space! Not mad abt any of it, but just saying be aware. No screens which you could view (such as you would find at Colts game).
