About

Dave Chappelle Live Performance and Tour

Dave Chappelle, mastermind behind sketch comedy goldmine Chappelle's Show, made a triumphant return to stand-up comedy in 2013. While he's beloved for his famous impersonations of Rick James and Prince, Chappelle doesn't rely on old material for his stand-up act, treating fans to an all-original show featuring extensive improvisation as he interacts with audiences. At his 2013 performances on The Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival, which he co-headlined with Flight of the Conchords, Chappelle had fans rolling on the floor, building anticipation for his highly coveted 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT

Born David Khari Webber Chappelle in Washington, D.C., Dave Chappelle studied theatre arts in high school before moving to New York City to pursue standup comedy. Despite getting booed off stage at the Apollo Theater's infamous "Amateur Night," he remained resilient, going on to make a name for himself on the New York comedy circuit. Following several successful film appearances in the '90s, including a starring role in 1998 cult classic Half Baked, Chappelle debuted his namesake sketch comedy show on Comedy Central in 2003, finding both critical and commercial success. In 2006 he released Dave Chappelle's Block Party, a concert film set in Brooklyn featuring performances by Kanye West, The Roots, and a temporarily-reunited Fugees.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY

"Funniest live performance I've witnessed to date. You will be quoting Chappelle after the show. I was laughing so hard that it started to hurt. Great show from start to finish."

"Dave...he is a comedic genius and one of the best ever. He was amazing and  I wished I could have gotten in line and gone to the second show!"

"He was hilarious. Talked about some of his history and was not afraid to get the audience involved. I had a great time."

Dave is still Dave. Delivered the type of jokes that you've grown to love him for. If you are a fan, it's definitely worth going to see.

Show was quite enjoyable and I'll definitely see him again. I was surprised by how everyone was constantly laughing to themselves about something because it was funny from beginning to end.

    Chappel lost his edge

by Catchrest on 4/1/15Comerica Theatre - Phoenix

Poor Dave, what he put on in muscle mass, he lost in comedic timing. He doesn't even find himself funny anymore, noted by his trademark laughing at his own jokes. I counted three bits that he could even sell to himself. Too bad, I hope he gets it back for HBO special, but I wouldn't pay to see him again.

Amazing Show, Laughed my ass off !

by Coconutterz on 3/23/15wells fargo theater for the arts - Roseville

I'm so used to seeing comedy shows live and thinking that was interesting or i can't believe people paid money for this but, I can honestly say Dave Chappelle killed it ! While his opening act was funny and a super cutie pie and got a couple of good laughs i thought this might be the tone of the night. Sometimes people go off or they only really achieve one good set and everything after that isn't as good, not the case here. Not only would I recommend you go see this I would have stayed and watched him twice do the same material over. He exudes such confidence and great delivery not only dos he know his stuff kills but, he enjoys it too and you can tell. From the moment he appears on the stage like a rock star you think how is he not reaching a national audience ?! His jokes are funny, on point and topical. Can't wait to see him rise again or just on stage in front of me. This man is truly a comedy giant and a legend!!!

Enough with the warnings, we aren't five

by KVentura on 3/23/15Arlington Theatre - Santa Barbara

Dave Chappelle was okay, but not spectacular. His performance was overshadowed by his DJ, who must have warned us ten times not to stand up, heckle, shout anything, make any moves, take photos or video, etc. because we WILL be kicked out. They had signs posted for this like every ten feet, we get it. The worst was when the DJ started the music for Dave Chappelle to come out, gets everyone all hyped, goes on too long and loses momentum, THEN turns it all off to warn us AGAIN about the RULES. By that time I was just pissed and wondering about the state of Mr. Chappelle's diva syndrome or sensitivity. When he came out, he seemed kind of drunk, and he smoked constantly onstage. His performance was inconsistent and basically just okay.

End of a once promising career

by Cooper59 on 3/21/15Arlington Theatre - Santa Barbara

Loved his tv show. Sad when he quit. Couldn't wait to see him again but he wasn't funny, only cheap sex jokes. Disgusting. His career is over!
