Dave Chappelle Live Performance and Tour
Dave Chappelle, mastermind behind sketch comedy goldmine Chappelle's Show, made a triumphant return to stand-up comedy in 2013. While he's beloved for his famous impersonations of Rick James and Prince, Chappelle doesn't rely on old material for his stand-up act, treating fans to an all-original show featuring extensive improvisation as he interacts with audiences. At his 2013 performances on The Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival, which he co-headlined with Flight of the Conchords, Chappelle had fans rolling on the floor, building anticipation for his highly coveted 2014 tour dates.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT
Born David Khari Webber Chappelle in Washington, D.C., Dave Chappelle studied theatre arts in high school before moving to New York City to pursue standup comedy. Despite getting booed off stage at the Apollo Theater's infamous "Amateur Night," he remained resilient, going on to make a name for himself on the New York comedy circuit. Following several successful film appearances in the '90s, including a starring role in 1998 cult classic Half Baked, Chappelle debuted his namesake sketch comedy show on Comedy Central in 2003, finding both critical and commercial success. In 2006 he released Dave Chappelle's Block Party, a concert film set in Brooklyn featuring performances by Kanye West, The Roots, and a temporarily-reunited Fugees.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY
"Funniest live performance I've witnessed to date. You will be quoting Chappelle after the show. I was laughing so hard that it started to hurt. Great show from start to finish."
"Dave...he is a comedic genius and one of the best ever. He was amazing and I wished I could have gotten in line and gone to the second show!"
"He was hilarious. Talked about some of his history and was not afraid to get the audience involved. I had a great time."
A little bit of comedy, tragedy and music. Somehow Dave made the experience intimate despite having my seat in section 240. Loved every minute of it.
I love Dave and was excited to see him perform in person. Dave did not perform any stand up. A documentary was played about the pandemic, no jokes were told. When it says screening, that’s exactly what it is. I wanted some raw Chappelle. People were sleeping in my section during the show. Best thing about the show was the 2 surprise performers. Reasons for 4 stars would’ve been 3.
What a great experience! From the special comedic guests, Luenall, Jeff Ross and the documentary to the surprise musical guests Usher & Justin Bieber and then of course Dave Chappelle himself . Phenomenal!!! Also, I appreciated the safety measures taken place and the communication of them.
Love Dave Chappelle and his documentary was so amazing, lots of laughs and some tears.
Dj spinning, comedy show, 2 concerts, and a jam session. Jeff Ross, Luenell, Chappelle’s documentary, Chappelle’s stand up, then surprise concerts by Bieber and Usher, followed by a Chappelle-led jam session.
Went to a documentary and comedy show and a music concert broke out. I wish there was more clarity on what was going to be going on because it was definitely not worth the money. Documentary was horrible, the comedians where decent and the music was bad.
We are very excited to get tickets to the David Chapelle show in San Francisco. They were gifted to us by our friends. When we heard San Francisco we thought, “oh they found out about a stand up comedy club that he just jumped in on”, he says that he has been known to do that. We were surprised to find out that we were part of a show that sold out with over 15,000 seats sold. We were surprised at how many people were there, but it was a very smooth entrance and seating process. The seats at the chase center in San Francisco though, were very tight. You are basically arm in arm with the neighbor next to you, The floors were slippery and the stairs were very steep. Overall a very unsafe and unsettling feeling if you’re not sitting down below. I would not go back to the chase center. The show was good, we expect to see more stand up but what we saw was a Netflix movie premiere; a great Netflix movie but I would’ve been more comfortable watching that in sweats at home. Dave Chapelle surprised the audience with a Bay Area legends concert and that was amazing. I didn’t dress for a concert, I would’ve like to know but overall a nice experience. I left feeling like the movie was great but we didn’t get to see you David Chapelle show! We felt like we went to the wrong concert.., a fun concert but not what we bought tickets for. Over all it was ok.
Anyone that gives the untitled show a bad review is a moron and spammer. Understand what you are buying, read the description and have a brain. With that being said, best show I have ever been to.
Dave Chappelle knows how to throw a party! I didn't want it to end!
Surprise guest after surprise guest. Dave gave us more than expected and did not disappoint. Must see! Comedy show, movie, and concert all in one.
Great show! Show up early! Checking vaccination and ID takes time!
The show was fantastic, entering the bldg was handled well. I didn't like the multiple email reminders about what to do when we got there. I received about 9. Kinda overkill. What should have been addressed was blocked streets into the parking lot. We had to maneuver through the terrible traffic to get to the lot from another direction. Another thing to improve is the unlocking of the cell phones' Going in was fine but coming out, there was no designated area, people just bumrushed the first person they saw with the tool to unlock the packages. Other than that, the Chase Center is a great venue.
This is a complete joke. It’s a movie. Know what your buying and DO NOT MAKE make the same mistake I did.
It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Dave had 2 other comics before him and both were super funny. Dave was incredible and he made a point to highlight that he is an ally to the lgtbi community which was well-received.
Opening act in Minneapolis kind of sucked, had no comedy outside of being trans… Rick Ross dude was funny, but I expected to hear some comedy from my all time favorite Dave chappelle, bought tickets up super close. Instead I got a documentary that was bring and half the stuff was somewhat available online and some Justin Bieber and usher… could we have gotten atleast 45min of Dave? Oh well we made the best of it.
This was such a suprise. My mom is not really familiar with Dave Chappelle, but we got tickets for her Birthday and figured we would have fun no matter what. They had a DJ early for seating and the documentary was good, a little boring but the comedy was great and the surprises that they gave in Minneapolis made this over the top. I am sure it would have sold out or getten 3 times the ticket proces would have everyone known in advance. We really enjoyed it.
One of the best shows I have ever been to. Jeff Ross opened the show as the host and some other friends did some stand up. 2 hr documentary and then the magic happened in Minneapolis. We got to see Usher and Justin Bieber put on an amazing show. Dave also joined in and what an unreal night. It seems different state to state but its worth whatever surprise coming. Amazing. Started at 700 and ended 1145 LOL…Dave said he was going to get fined for breaking curfew.. yelled he didnt care and to pay the fine.. all time entertainer..
It was a great experience. I am glad I was able to attend and watch the premiere of his documentary. It was a dope experience.
I went to a movie screening and a comedy show and concert broke out. Documentary was touching. Showed another side of Dave. But taking the stage afterwards, we saw what we wanted. Felt like I was at the Block Party, but this one featured artists from the Bay Area I listened to growing up.
But I soon figured out it was well worth being scalped for the tickets! Y’all, don’t buy them off of someone who “secures” tickets. Just buy them from the venue site. Let me tell you I bought 1 ticket for damn near $300. The seat was waaaaaay far, but I forced myself to drive into the city for the showing even tho it was an impulsive buy and I thought it was a comedy show. But Mr. Chapelle knows how to put of a show!! Some bald white guy came up and made unfunny jokes, then some music, then the movie, then Dave made this a show to remember, 100% recommend for people who buy their tickets from the venue. I had such a good time, I even craved a cigarette afterwards.
