BRAVO!!!!!! I have seen the DTH for many years, and I was thinking the ensemble would not be as good. Boy I was wrong...It was more than I could have ever image it was the Best.

The show was amazing. A mix of excellent dancers, choreographers, and costume and lighting designers made for an interesting and original performance.

Stunning ! Visually and performance-wise. The palette of the production is lovely. Director of Ensemble, Keith Saunders, masterfully informed and explained the history and mission of the Dance Theater.

  • Harlem Dance Theatre

by Waybroad on 2/3/11Albany Municipal Auditorium - AlbanyRating: 5 out of 5

Wow! The juxtaposition of classically trained dancers moving to jazz in minimalistic costumes (no - they were completely covered -- but were expressive yet simplistic) in abstract and sometimes hip-hop integrated moves was wonderful. They obviously love what they do and are magnificient at it. What a treat. The accompanyist was marvelous -- she was as agile on the keyboard as the dancers on the floor.

Dance Theatre of Harlem was amazing and worth the money. The dancers put on a show and I was greatly entertained. I can't wait till they return to the Rocket City. They danced with poise, precision and elegance. They earned their standing ovations and rounds of applause.

  • Dance Theatre of Harlem

by Clotea on 6/19/10Cannon Center for the Performing Arts - MemphisRating: 4 out of 5

The performance was great. If they had choregraphed more solo acts in between group acts, it could have eliminated some of the pauses they had. The audience doesn't stay captivated with a lot of pauses. Otherwise, the performance was very nice. It was also great to pay lower prices for the tickets. The original amount was very expensive for the amount of actual stage time they performed.

I thoroughly enjoyed the performance. I have seen the company every time they come to my city and will continue to support them.

  • The Dance Theatre of Harlem was awesome

by mistersea on 6/18/10Cannon Center for the Performing Arts - MemphisRating: 5 out of 5

The whole show was amazing!! From the opening number, which looked very Nutcrackeresque, to the jungle-type number, to the number that involved one male dancer and one female dancer, up to the "funky" final piece set to a James Brown song, it was great. See the Dance Theatre of Harlem when they come to your town.

  • Exquisite Evening Of Dance

by kappastein on 6/18/10Cannon Center for the Performing Arts - MemphisRating: 4 out of 5

The Harlem Dance Theatre Ensemble performance was magical. My wife and I thorougly enjoyed . I view professional dance as one of the most challenging endeavors and DTHE excecuted magnificently. The solo and duo dances were enthralling. I felt timing was not exact on some of the group dances especially the men, still they were still highly enjoyable and entertaining. A most wonderful way to spend a Thursday evening or any evening for that matter

  • Dance Theatre of Harlem

by BWN68SGA on 2/7/10William Saroyan Theatre Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center - FresnoRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen many dance performances. I thoroughly enjoy this new approach, we were given an opportunity to see the background of performances, the hard work and an intimate involvement with the dancers. The chance to talk to them and to experience why they are pursuing dancing. The performances were flawlessly executed and breathless in some instances.

  • Fabulous moments...just not too many.

by ImaPc on 2/6/10William Saroyan Theatre Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center - FresnoRating: 3 out of 5

Dance Theatre of Harlem tried to do something which many companies don't do. They showed you a behind the scenes look at how their dancers prepare, who they are, where they come from and they involved the audience. What I felt was lacking was just dancing. A couple of the dances they performed were absolutely stunning and I would go again just to see those. But, coming from a dance background, I would have preferred that the time spent answering questions would have been showing me more cool dance tricks!

  • Episode and New Bach were superb

by Veroniki on 2/3/10Performance Hall - CSUN - NorthridgeRating: 4 out of 5

The whole program was excellent. The dancers were excellent and worked very hard. Beside the performance I had enjoyed very much thr sophisticated casual artists with audience participation. The Masters of Ceremonies achieved seemingly effortlessly to involve the audience. Taking everything in consideration it was a worthwhile evening.
