About

DANA CARVEY ON TOUR:

Venerable funnyman and Saturday Night Live alum Dana Carvey is the mastermind behind some of comedy's most beloved personas, from Wayne's World's Garth Algar to SNL's Church Lady. One of the best impersonators in the business, Carvey takes aim at everyone from celebrities to past presidents in his hilarious standup act, only relenting to add off-color but hilariously insightful bits from his personal experience to the mix. Much to the delight of fans, Carvey is shamelessly devoted to pleasing his audience — each routine ends with a 15-minute Q&A where he fields questions and reprises characters from his rich comedic past. His passion was unmistakable on his 2013 tour dates, and fans can expect another priceless round of performances in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Missoula, Montana, Carvey landed some minor film roles in the early '80s before becoming a household name as part of Saturday Night Live's 1986 featured cast. Carvey played a pivotal role in boosting the show's waning popularity, becoming an audience favorite with iconic characters like Church Lady and the bodybuilder Hans of "Hans and Franz." His most famous SNL role, however, was his portrayal of Garth Algar alongside Mike Meyers in the epochal Wayne's World sketches, which spawned one of the most successful movie franchises of the '90s. Over his three decade-spanning career, Carvey has been nominated for six Emmys, cementing his place as one of comedy's modern greats.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"We laughed until we had tears in our eyes. He was so funny! His timing was impeccable."

"My face and stomach muscles were sore until late the next day from laughing and smiling so much! "

"Dana Carvey just gets better with time. Even our young daughter-in-law from the Philippines thought he was great! We really got our money's worth!"

I recommend the DVD, but not the live show

by BobandKate on 11/9/11Wilbur Theatre - Boston

Dana Carvey is our favorite comedian, and think he is the funniest man on the planet. However, the show was not well planned or well executed. The two opening acts were dismal so by the time Dana came out we were ready to leave. The sound system was very poor and difficult to hear. His new material was not up to the level with that which we had already heard on the DVD. We brought friends with us who had not seen him before, and they couldn't understand why we think he is so great.

    Dana Carvey

    by Irish888 on 11/9/11Wilbur Theatre - Boston

Dana Carvey was absolutely hysterical! I wish he'd be on the circuit more often. When I told friends I had seen him they were really sad they did not know he was in town, and said had they known they definitely would have gone to see him. He is so in tune to politics, and life in general and I love to hear his comedic take on everything. It was a great night!

    Dana Carvey worth it

    by caisse4 on 11/8/11Wilbur Theatre - Boston

Dana Carvey was excellent , lots of laughs...I would highly recommend anyone to see him if you get the chance.... The venue however was quaint ...and had extremely tight seating. We sat on the floor which was reserved seating. They cram as many people in as possible... but I noticed that seating in the mezzanine and Balcony had regular seating all facing front and would give you more room....

Well worth every minute. I would go again in a heartbeat. And the Wilbur Theatre is so intimate - never any difficulty hearing and you can see everything.

Dana hasn't lost a step. Had me in stitches the entire show. Great show, great standup comic. My only regret was not getting my oldest son to come with us. He loves Dana, and does a respectable imitation of him. Come back Soon Dana, Boston is waiting with open arms. Will be back end of week to see Mr Buddy Guy, end of month to see Ray Davies

    Brilliant!

by nwbl on 11/8/11Wilbur Theatre - Boston

Dana Carvey is a gem. He mixes old favorites (Church Lady and Bush 41) with newer material (Obama & the national debt) seamlessly. He combines terrific social commentary with spot on impressions of a mind-boggling array of celebrities (and his family members!) Neil Young, every president from Carter to Obama, Ahnuld Shwarzenegger, Garth & Wayne, ... Much to the delight of me and my teenage son who was also at the show, Carvey did a spot on bit about his own teenage sons. His wit is sharp and it is easy to relate to his material. He's definitely a don't miss comedian!

Hours after the show I still could not stop smiling! I hope and can't wait until his next visit here, I will be there as fast as my little feet can take me. Yeah Dana, you were AWESOME!!!!

    Dana Carvey was very entertaining!

by suehue on 11/8/11Wilbur Theatre - Boston

My husband and I really enjoyed Dana Carvery at the Wilbur. He did a couple of references to the old school SNL routines which was appreciated by us 50+ peeps...wish there was a little bit more of that. His president impersonations were hysterical! Who knew he could do Obama so well along with his as usual Bush spot on imitations. Overall it was great! I laughed so hard at one point my stomach hurt...good job!

Great performer, too bad he ditched his fans after

    by Genny164 on 11/8/11Wilbur Theatre - Boston

Dana Carvey, still a funny, funny man. I laughed alot and he did a lot of classic bits with a few new things thrown in. He played to a packed house at the Wilbur. He gave a complete show and plenty of stage time. His opening act was pretty good as well. I waited out back at the stage door along with about a dozen other people. The previous night, the performers were gracious for the few people who waited and security was present but it was fine. They allowed photos and didn't run away. Dana Carvey literally ran into his black SUV and sped off and waved sarcastically to a few people. It was a sad disappointment to an otherwise delightful evening. We were all pretty shocked and disappointed at being so blown off. But, I guess it all depends on the performer. So if you think it is worth waiting to try and get an autograph, forgettaboutit... Dana has no time for you.

    Carvey rocked it

    by isu4ewe on 11/8/11Ryan Center - Kingston

Often, I see performers simply calling in their performance. Or, with comedians, they often rely on their old material. Not Carvey. He clearly was trying to earn his keep and he succeeded wildly. Still relevant and hilarious, Carvey performed for about an hour and a half, about 50% longer than most. He didn't just tell jokes, he did some impressions, played guitar and took audience requests. He made frequent mention of the forum he was playing (parents' weekend at URI) and never once did I worry about hearing "HELLO PROVIDENCE" from an entertainer in Kingston. He even had many Rhode Island specific jokes.

dana carvey and his friends with benefits

by gentlgym on 11/7/11Ryan Center - Kingston

The first two comedians were much more than expected..they came close to stealing the show..but Dana has such a sharp wit and a fantastic recall of celebrity impression material that he is like the stepford wife with the knife in her tummy buzzing around the kitchen yapping at the speed of light....can't get enough of Dana...I suggest selling cd's at the show (or did I miss that somewhere?)..
