Dallas Stars History
The Dallas Stars began play in 1967 as the Minnesota North Stars, earning two trips to the Stanley Cup Final. They relocated to Dallas after the 1992-1993 season and dropped "North" from their name.
The team immediately brought a winning tradition to Dallas, making the playoffs four of its first five seasons. Then came the back-to-back seasons that Stars fans will remember forever. In 1998-1999, sparked by center Mike Modano (the franchise's all-time leading scorer), off-season addition Brett Hull, and goaltender Ed Belfour, the Stars swept through the playoffs to defeat the Buffalo Sabres and clinch their first Stanley Cup Championship. The following season, the Stars again made the Stanley Cup Final, but lost to the New Jersey Devils in six games.
The Stars made it to the playoffs six more times over the next seven seasons. The team earned the best regular season record in the Western Conference for the 2014-2015 season. The team went on to clinch additional playoff berths in 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023. They made it to the Final again in 2020, but lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game Six.
Since their arrival in 1993, the Stars are one of the most successful sports franchises in Dallas, making 18 postseason appearances and capturing eight division championships and two Presidents' Trophies.

Great venue and event. Easy parking and access. Entry to venue was fast and problem free.
This was the first time that I went to a Star game. I’ve been to the Kings and Ducks stadium to watch them. The energy and excitement at a Stars game far surpasses what I’ve observed at a Kings and Duck game. I can’t wait to go to another. I’m hoping be able to attend the season opener against the Kings. Go Stars!!!
The Dallas Stars beat the CHI Blackhawks 6-1! What made this experience more entertaining was that the Dallas Stars certainly know how to put on a good show to entertain their fans from start to finish! We are hockey fans from the Northeast and are in TX due to our military assignment, but that did not take away from how much fun we had! We rooted for the home team since we are stationed here (plus, CHI is NOT one of our teams) and came away deciding that we would gladly come back again!
Game, atmosphere great game. Show ,players all organizacion was perfect
Love the American Airlines Center always clean with friendly staff.Loved everything about it. Go Stars!!
Stars games kick butt, even when they lose, but it would be a whole lot cooler if they won
Game was fantastic; great Stars win; that's all I care about; everything else is secondary.
Great event! Eventful game and engaging activities.
Parking a breeze, a brisk walk, easy entrance with mobile tickets, lots of eats & drinks, comfortable seats and perfect views from nearly every seat. Such an awesome experience. Was already a fan we will be back.
We always enjoy going to American Airline Center watching the Dallas Stars play. The atmosphere and the arena are great. Any seat is a good seat! The food is delicious and bathrooms are clean. We go every year and we live in Louisiana!
Its never a bad experience when the stars win. The only negative i have to say were the ticket prices. $75ea for nose bleed tickets are ridiculous! If it were playoff tickets thats one thing but, regular season nose bleeds should be $30 our less.
We sat as high as you can sit, and we were able to enjoy the game is if we were closer. Nice all around experience. Food was great!
The Dallas Stars have, by far, the best sports experience in The DFW area
Game was very good concessions have gotten better stadium still needs improvement especially whengamegoing on stop letting people go to their seats until break in action not enough ushers. Ticket master has improved low down time
During warm-ups myself and my brother were standing in the isle and had handmade Indian headdress on and were told we could not wear them in the arena I'm disappointed beause we were just trying to have fun and had no intentions of wearing them in our seats with intent to obstruct anyone's view.
First time to American Airlines Center and wow, what a great experience. All in all, a first class place and staff. There were more folks there to help than I have ever seen at an event. Definitely would recommend this to anyone.
The venue is always clean and the personnel that works there its absolutely the best.
So much fun and super easy with mobile tickets! Highly recommend and can't wait to go again!
Tickets got to my home really early from the time i ordered them.
Exciting fast paced hockey game. Stars were victorious. Loved the tribute to Dirk.
