Dallas Stars History

The Dallas Stars began play in 1967 as the Minnesota North Stars, earning two trips to the Stanley Cup Final. They relocated to Dallas after the 1992-1993 season and dropped "North" from their name.

The team immediately brought a winning tradition to Dallas, making the playoffs four of its first five seasons. Then came the back-to-back seasons that Stars fans will remember forever. In 1998-1999, sparked by center Mike Modano (the franchise's all-time leading scorer), off-season addition Brett Hull, and goaltender Ed Belfour, the Stars swept through the playoffs to defeat the Buffalo Sabres and clinch their first Stanley Cup Championship. The following season, the Stars again made the Stanley Cup Final, but lost to the New Jersey Devils in six games.

The Stars made it to the playoffs six more times over the next seven seasons. The team earned the best regular season record in the Western Conference for the 2014-2015 season. The team went on to clinch additional playoff berths in 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023. They made it to the Final again in 2020, but lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game Six.

Since their arrival in 1993, the Stars are one of the most successful sports franchises in Dallas, making 18 postseason appearances and capturing eight division championships and two Presidents' Trophies.

    FANTASTIC

    by M. H. A. on 1/9/22American Airlines Center - Dallas

Everything about my experience was fantastic! Getting tickets was simple and easy. Ticketmaster communicated everything I needed to know about how to access my tickets and sent friendly reminders as needed. They offered a parking pass to purchase, which was also very easy and helpful! The Dallas Stars game was so much fun and the staff at the AAC were all friendly and professional.

    Great experience!

by Catherine on 12/29/21American Airlines Center - Dallas

I loved the game, it was very fun - there was a large variety of food and drink vendors and most everyone had their masks on which made me feel more secure. They also had the cutest Dallas Stars santa taking pictures for the holiday game which I thought was a very cute touch. I will definitely be attending another game!

    Brilliant

by Army Mom on 12/23/21American Airlines Center - Dallas

My soldier had one request after being locked down in basic & AIT for 8 1/2 months, but before he deploys overseas in New Year. 16 days home, all he wanted was to go to hockey game. I’d gone good tickets to Stars/Jets in advance. Wake up Sunday before to learn game indefinitely postponed. He said “Don’t worry, Mom, it’s no big deal.” But it was. I went online & found reasonably priced tickets on third level, first row to Monday night’s Stars/Wild game. And wild it was! 2 unanswered goals in the 2:30 minutes… followed by 5 more goals & thrilling 7-4 victory! Perfect event for my soldier & my momma’s heart. Thank you, Dallas Stars!

    Stars Win at Home

by Beth C. on 12/23/21American Airlines Center - Dallas

The whole experience was great from getting into the Silver parking lot, getting to our seats, and leaving the parking lot. The hosts at AAC are always so helpful with any information you need. The game experience was everything we were looking forward to. Thanks AAC and Dallas Stars!

    Good Experience

by DRE on 12/21/21American Airlines Center - Dallas

My daughter and I drove in for the Blackhawks game, as has become our semi-custom. The venue is nice and (I must say) has THE best popcorn I’ve ever had at a public arena! In fact, the popcorn and soft drink is a great value.

    Excellent family fun!

by DrKinRow on 12/21/21American Airlines Center - Dallas

I took my wife and 15 yo daughter, and we all had a blast! It was an excellent game, the arena staff was polite and helpful, and the "bottomless popcorn" from the concession stand was just what my daughter needed. Ticket purchase and delivery was smooth and simple to my iPhone, and worked flawlessly upon entry. Would do it all again without hesitation.

    Great seat! Awesome game.

by BD on 11/26/21American Airlines Center - Dallas

Loved the ease of finding seats on the day of the game. Had the advantage of seeing the approximate view of the arena before purchasing and the actual view in-person was even better! Of course, the fact that the Dallas Stars won made the evening that much more fun!

    Great night with my son

by Steve on 11/26/21American Airlines Center - Dallas

Everything about this was awesome. Great seats, great atmosphere, great game. I have seen events in stadiums all over the world, and the crowd at AAC was the most engaged I have ever seen. Family atmosphere. No jerks or drunks and no bad language. Just perfect. My 15yo son said this was the best sporting event he had ever been to!! I agree wholeheartedly

    Such a fun game!

by Larissa on 10/26/21American Airlines Center - Dallas

The game was great and the arena was very clean. The fans were nice (especially compared to some other arenas I’ve been to). It was a really fun event. The fan fest before the game was a bit lamer than we expected but considering the still- Covid environment I’m not surprised it was a little subdued.

    Stars Home Opener Experience

by patriotp on 10/25/21American Airlines Center - Dallas

My girlfriend and i had a great time once inside the AAC. The thing that lost it a star was that the building and the parking staff were not on the same page. you need a pass and only a pass will be allowed to park in the named lots. because they didn’t explain that or let the staff at the AAC know we were late getting inside the building because of traffic.

    Disappointed

by DS Fan on 10/25/21American Airlines Center - Dallas

2 Stars because we won. Otherwise, 0 stars. I counted 6 people wearing masks. 6. No one enforcing. I saw one guy purposely throw his mask on the ground. Definitely done with American Airlines. The floor was sticky as I walked in so I know there's no cleaning protocols. Was on edge the whole time and couldn't enjoy the game because all I could think about was how unsafe the whole thing was.

They need to do a better job at advertising

by Scooter on 10/11/21American Airlines Center - Dallas

It would of been nice to know before hand that absolutely no cash would be accepted anywhere. All we brought was cash like we have to every other venue before with zero issues. There wasn’t a single sign anywhere stating that cash wouldn’t be accepted. Probably not won’t go back to this event center in the future.
