Dallas Mavericks History
The Mavericks joined the NBA as an expansion franchise in the 1980–81 season, becoming the league’s third team in Texas, joining the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets. The Mavericks struggled in their inaugural season, but quickly improved.
Their win totals increased in each of their first four seasons. Led by Mark Aguirre, who became the franchise's first All-Star, they reached the playoffs for the first time in the 1983–84 season. The Mavericks went on to qualify for the playoffs for five consecutive seasons, culminating in a trip to the Western Conference Finals in 1987–88. They came within one win of the NBA Finals, losing to the Lakers in seven games.
Dallas struggled throughout the '90s, but a new era began when the Mavericks acquired Dirk Nowitzki in 1998. Ownership of the team was sold to Mark Cuban in January of 2000. Cuban immediately began to revitalize the franchise, building around a central trio of Nowitzki, point guard Steve Nash and wing Michael Finley. In Cuban's inaugural year owning the Mavericks, they made the playoffs for the first time in 11 years. This began a streak in which they qualified for the playoffs for 12 consecutive seasons. In the 2011 NBA Finals, they defeated the Miami HEAT in six games to win the only championship in franchise history.
Nowitzki retired in 2019 and passed the torch to Luka Dončić, who led the Mavericks to three straight playoff berths, including the 2022 Western Conference Finals.

Enjoy every minute even though we loss. MFFL LETS GO MAVS!!!!
Family really enjoyed the event. Everyone in attendance acted respectfully to others.
worth the money to get in, everyone should go if given the opportunity
Before getting the first initial email regarding Watch Party Seats we had already planned to figure out somewhere to park to just watch from out doors…a week later I get the email FREE Seats and FREE parking! …Get to the arena and the tickets was just took a second to scan and we were ready enjoy a night of fun! And we did, the atmosphere was Incredible! Thanks
The fans were the best excited, happy and funny. The poor Warrior fans took a joyful verbal beating until the last 5 minutes. The Maverick staff made the night lots of fun for everyone.
Fun Fun 😊 thank you again family time with my daughter and son and niece and nephew
I had the best night of my life on side of a very generous man 😍😘💯
I loved it! Great event we had fun, crowd participation was great, performances were outstanding Cheerleaders, The Maniacs, the drummers etc...Vendors were a plenty, almost like a regular home game we were just missing our Mavericks. Good game! Congratulations GS Warriors, and to our awesome Dallas Mavericks players congratulations to you also! We'll run it back next year! Great event, let's do it again! #MavsFan4Life
Thanks so much, the entity was the event and the intermediates not to mention
Other than the game itself I really enjoyed the Mavs watch party. I thought it was really fun! However my Mom and I left just before halftime since the Mavs were losing badly to the Warriors.
1st year as a season ticket holder and was taken on an unexpected ride of greatness. That was fun and i cannot wait for next season to kick off! Let's go Mavs!
Very loud and wonderful atmosphere fun funnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
I have been a season-ticket holder for 20 years and am part of a group. Since others wanted to use the season tickets, I purchased a seat in section 332, row BB, seat 15, to game four against the Warriors. During the game there was a huge storm and the ceiling was dripping all over me and the man sitting directly behind me. I finally decided to head down to guest services with four minutes left in the first half and they were unable to move me anywhere else but offered me a T- shirt. I have so many Mavs T-shirts that I was not really interested in another one. After paying almost $200 for my ticket I was pretty frustrated. I then went to someone in the corridor selling season tickets for next year and he directed me to someone else. The last gentleman took my seat number but did not want my name or email address. He said someone would come up to my seat and help me but no one ever arrived. Luckily, the Usher on my aisle pointed me to another seat several rows behind me and I was able to move. The fact I had to move further back to stay dry was upsetting. At least the Mavs won, which was the only saving grace.
As an MFFL, I love attending Mavs Games!!! I tend to get great value purchasing tickets. Traveling to the American Airlines Center (AAC) is a breeze. The security team, AAC staff, and Mavs staff are fantastic and add to the amazing in-game experience! Of course, the Mavs Team is awesome!
Great experience watching with your closes friends. The event was well run and free to attend and park. Looking forward to the next road Mavs playoff game.
My seats were broken and leaning to the side and I couldn’t go no where else in my section because it was a full crowd because it was a playoff game. I spent a lot of money on this playoff experience and I couldn’t even sit comfortable during the whole game.
Went to the game 3 watch party had the time of my life
Fun and Energetic I Had A Great Time Will Do It Again
Loved it, great experience best fans and arena staff
Great facilty, always full with security making us feel safe. Every once in a while when we ask for staff to verify seat check they do give an attitude but they do it.
