Dallas Mavericks History
The Mavericks joined the NBA as an expansion franchise in the 1980–81 season, becoming the league’s third team in Texas, joining the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets. The Mavericks struggled in their inaugural season, but quickly improved with Mark Aguirre, who became the franchise's first All-Star and took the team to their first playoff series in the 1983–84 season. The Mavericks went on to qualify for the playoffs for four more consecutive seasons, culminating in a trip to the Western Conference Finals in 1987–88. They came within one win of the NBA Finals, losing to the Lakers in seven games.
Dallas struggled throughout the '90s, but a new era began when the Mavericks acquired Dirk Nowitzki in 1998. Ownership of the team was sold to Mark Cuban in January of 2000. Cuban immediately began to revitalize the franchise, building around a central trio of Nowitzki, point guard Steve Nash and wing Michael Finley. In Cuban's inaugural year owning the Mavericks, they made the playoffs for the first time in 11 years. This began a streak in which they qualified for the playoffs for 12 consecutive seasons. In the 2011 NBA Finals, they defeated the HEAT in six games to win the only championship in franchise history.
Nowitzki retired in 2019 and passed the torch to Luka Dončić, who led the Mavericks to four straight playoff berths, including the 2022 Western Conference Finals and 2024 NBA Finals.

I love the Mavs! They won last night! My son really enjoyed the game too. We will go again.
lebron james and Shaq didn't even play. that is the whole reason I bought the tickets, sucks man
I did not know the seats were on the last row of the stadium or that Lebron James or Shaquille O'neil would not play.
This will be the last preseason game I attend! Neither Shaq nor LeBron played, so it was a total waste of money!
The total game experience was fantastic! The staff was pleasant and helpful. I can not wait to attend another game. Go Mavs!
It was one of the last preseason games. I saw lebron on the bench surrounded by his peeps. I just wish his coach let him play a quarter at least. Dallas played everybody. I just wish the Cavs did the same.
I like Preseason cause you can pick up cheap seats but it's not fun when the opposing team doesn't play any of their starters....
My family of five had come to Dallas for the weekend. We had saved our money ($147 per ticket) and by passed other pricey events. We get here and Shaq and LeBron didn't even suit up. I am not sure if Shaq was injured and yes, LeBron had the flu. But the other starters were MIA. What the devil? I will go to other events or wait until the playoffs. We had fun in spite of, but money's worth????? NOT
The atmosphere was awsome but he preseason game was missing the luster of a regular season outing
Mavericks game was great and cant wait to go to the next one. meeting up with some friends and getting to the platium level bar area made the event that more fun.
We had a blast for $2.00 a ticket!!! We will definitely go again...
Took my two boys - we had a blast~! Cheap tickets, lost of fun
worth every penny...All 200 of them :-) Kinda far from the action but still worth it to be in stadium watching with all the other fans
I really enjoyed the game! Finally the Mavs take control of their home court and show the other team who is boss! The defense was great tonight and it showed!
Game was awesome. Food was great and the beer was cold. They know how to put on a show. If you don't do anything else in Dallas you have to attend a Mav's game
The Mavs game was thrilling; every moment of the game was full of excitement.
It's a mavs game! We should've won, but it didnt really matter because its pre-season.
Great show as usually at the american airlines center
You should see those new screen. thank You Mark Cuban they are great A forever Mavs fan
OMG .. where do i start. We had ok seats for $2.00 in Section 325; that nothing never happens up there. No shirt thrown up there not even when we try to get on the Jumbo screen. The staduim was empty. Game was getting better then we lost.
