Dallas Mavericks History
The Mavericks joined the NBA as an expansion franchise in the 1980–81 season, becoming the league’s third team in Texas, joining the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets. The Mavericks struggled in their inaugural season, but quickly improved.
Their win totals increased in each of their first four seasons. Led by Mark Aguirre, who became the franchise's first All-Star, they reached the playoffs for the first time in the 1983–84 season. The Mavericks went on to qualify for the playoffs for five consecutive seasons, culminating in a trip to the Western Conference Finals in 1987–88. They came within one win of the NBA Finals, losing to the Lakers in seven games.
Dallas struggled throughout the '90s, but a new era began when the Mavericks acquired Dirk Nowitzki in 1998. Ownership of the team was sold to Mark Cuban in January of 2000. Cuban immediately began to revitalize the franchise, building around a central trio of Nowitzki, point guard Steve Nash and wing Michael Finley. In Cuban's inaugural year owning the Mavericks, they made the playoffs for the first time in 11 years. This began a streak in which they qualified for the playoffs for 12 consecutive seasons. In the 2011 NBA Finals, they defeated the Miami HEAT in six games to win the only championship in franchise history.
Nowitzki retired in 2019 and passed the torch to Luka Dončić, who led the Mavericks to three straight playoff berths, including the 2022 Western Conference Finals.

Love seeing Lebron James and Luka play! What a game!
My kids surprise me with a ticket to go see the mavs and lakers game on Christmas. First time ever seeing a game at the stadium, best Christmas gift ever. Dirk unveiled was the same day. We had so much fun!
The staff was nice and it was my birthday and the food was good
We took our 3 boys to their first Maverick’s game and it did not disappoint!
Although they were resale, they were row 8 for very good seats for a reasonable price!! had a great time and a great view!
Great seats. Easy access to tickets and parking. Good game
I’ve been to the AAC to attend about 10 Mavs games now and I’ve loved the experience of each one. Doesn’t matter where you sit, you’ll have a good time
The game and the arena experience was great. I enjoyed it all. However, when i arrived at the gate my ticket I purchased from ticketmaster would not scan. That was a hassle and inconvenience.
Had an absolute blast at the game and a very memorable experience.
the experience to watch a mavericks game live it’s lit and fun I recommend see one live
The seats were amazing! I had so much fun and would totally do it again.
First ever live NBA game, let me tell you the in person experience is unreal and unlike anything you can ever imagine. The look and feel makes you feel like you are part of the game itself. Definitely looking forward to come back again!
This was our first NBA game for us and our kids and the energy at the Maverick game compared to a MLB game was on a different level. My kiddos love basketball I don’t understand it like I do baseball/football but just the interaction with the fans and energy the fans put off was awesome. Definitely will be back to watch another game in the future.
