Dallas Mavericks History
The Mavericks joined the NBA as an expansion franchise in the 1980–81 season, becoming the league’s third team in Texas, joining the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets. The Mavericks struggled in their inaugural season, but quickly improved with Mark Aguirre, who became the franchise's first All-Star and took the team to their first playoff series in the 1983–84 season. The Mavericks went on to qualify for the playoffs for four more consecutive seasons, culminating in a trip to the Western Conference Finals in 1987–88. They came within one win of the NBA Finals, losing to the Lakers in seven games.
Dallas struggled throughout the '90s, but a new era began when the Mavericks acquired Dirk Nowitzki in 1998. Ownership of the team was sold to Mark Cuban in January of 2000. Cuban immediately began to revitalize the franchise, building around a central trio of Nowitzki, point guard Steve Nash and wing Michael Finley. In Cuban's inaugural year owning the Mavericks, they made the playoffs for the first time in 11 years. This began a streak in which they qualified for the playoffs for 12 consecutive seasons. In the 2011 NBA Finals, they defeated the HEAT in six games to win the only championship in franchise history.
Nowitzki retired in 2019 and passed the torch to Luka Dončić, who led the Mavericks to four straight playoff berths, including the 2022 Western Conference Finals and 2024 NBA Finals.

Awesome atmosphere, great seats, and the game were on Fire!!!! Go Mavs!
My son and I attended the game. Although the Mavericks lost to the Lakers, we had an amazing time.
couldn’t be more happy with my experience. Second time going to an NBA game at American Airlines and it did not disappoint! I sat and section 301 row DD and could see the court perfectly!
Parking at the AA was horrible. Unless you had a parking pass it was going to be a long night coming and going. I understand the wait in trying to get a parking place. After the game, we sat in the parking garage for a hour before we were able to get out. The Mavericks had no one to help or direct traffic on the way out of the main parking garage. It could have been much better. Horrible management Mark Cuban
Nice will call counter service , I mean it really is a patient Behavior with the best manner service. Appreciate the everything given from the game took place in the night at American airline center !
For a first timer for me and my kids, we love the experience! People were helpful and nice getting in and looking for our seats. We did though had rude people sitting in front of us constantly getting up and leaning way too back. Overall we were satisfied with the game.
Purchased five tickets together and held them on the Ticketmaster’s App—no opportunity whatsoever for tickets for being lost, stolen or misplaced. This feature is a game changer. The facilities and staff were outstanding. Even though was a pre-season game, we stayed until the end. It was a great experience.
I was in Dallas visiting my best friend and we decided to go to a game (planned a few months in advance). I must say everything was very well planned by the Mavericks organization for the game from start to finish. Fans are given the ultimate sports entertainment experience from parking, access to the arena, help or assistance inside the arena if you need it and a multitude of amenities before and during the game. If you need food and drink, there are many stations open so you won't be in line long. I even met a former basketball all-star, Spud Webb, taking in the game with his family. My first time Dallas Mavericks basketball game experience was AWESOME!!
This was such a special moment to share with my dad for his bday.
The screen scoreboard goes luuuuuuuuuuukkkkkkkkkaaaaaaaaaaa when he scores awesome 👏🏾
Tickets were great and game was great. Missed Dirk's record breaking scoring night by 5 points and one night!!! The crowd tried to will-in the last missed three's, but to no avail. He did get the record the next game though. Go Mavs and Congrats to Dirk - the G.O.A.T.!!!
It was my first professional basketball game. I took my 3 sons and we had a ball👌🏾
This was my sons first Mavs game and it absolutely great!! The game, the food, the service!! Just great!!
Seating in the AACenter are at a poor elevation so it’s difficult to see through spectators heads in front of you.
Thought we had aisle seats but that was not the case. Bought on the floor before the door and was huge waste of money. My kids did not get quality experience that NBA advertises. Overall experience to first NBA game for family was overpriced and subpar .
Really good, should consider give away promo codes for discounts once in a while! That would be awesome.
From the time we walked in to the time we left everything was smooth with no lines for anything. Loved it.
We took my son to the game for his birthday and I really wasn’t looking forward to going but ended up having a great time. I would definitely recommend going to a mavs game again.
LOVED our night out at the Mavericks. Amazing at how much fun it is to see in person. The AA Center is easy to get in to...although parking in the Silver Garage took a long time to exit. Have always been a Maverick fan from home, and our seats in the 200 section were perfect!
